Is it bad that I squealed when I started watching this? Lol!! I need more information about the rulers themselves though...

Squealing = excitement so that's a good thing! There are so many rulers available that it's hard to talk about them specifically but I do have some videos where I use quilting rulers that you can find on my channel. I do like to use Sew Steady (Westalee) rulers - good quality, lots of choices, and well thought out rulers.

How important is it to have the blue dot bobbin case and what exactly is the different function of this bobbin case? Thanks for sharing 👍❤️😊

The blue dot bobbin case has less tension so works best for free motion quilting to avoid thread tension or breakage issues.

You don’t get the blue dot bobbin holder with the machine and that costs a further £36. This seems to me to be a great omission as the M7 is so geared to quilting and is an expensive machine. Also I found that free motion quilting did not work without the purple tip needles and they are more expensive than ordinary needles. It doesn’t seem to be a case of “if” you need them, more like it won’t work without them. As I expect you can tell this left me with a bit of a sour taste after buying the M7 myself.

Sorry to hear that you are feeling a bit upset about the M7. While it does work very well for quilting, it always is a great machine for garment and home dec sewing and I think this is why the blue dot bobbin case isn't included with it. I've also used Organ top stitch needles and they work well with this machine. It's probably more important to use good quality thread when free motion quilting to get good results - IMHO. Hope you start to like the M7 more as you get more familiar with it.

hello from Belgium, I have the Janome M7 but I have never done ruler work, I don't even have rulers yet, but which one should I actually buy, low shank or high shank?

The Janome M7 is a high shank machine so you would look for high shank rulers.

So to do ruler work I need a different bobbin case other then what came on my machine?

I like to use the blue dot bobbin case for any type of free motion quilting, including ruler work. You can use the existing bobbin but I find that you don't have to do as much tension adjusting if you use the blue dot bobbin case.

I like listening to your directions, Except for you often go from one point to another without showing on the screen. Which button you hit to get to the next screen?. If you could show those. On camera you would be absolutely perfect thank you for your time.
