If you find yourself buying a lot of books that you won't read, definitely utilize your local library more! You can request new releases, place holds on popular books, and due dates can motivate you to read books before you need to return them! Book shopping IS very fun, but supporting libraries is also super important.
Definitely agree!! I do find myself using Libby more than checking out physical books but I definitely need to physically go to the library more and request new releases more often instead of buying them!
Agree with the library. :) I'm in 2 book clubs and we're reading books I don't want to keep (except for one. "Episode Thirteen" by Craig DiLouie. I may order that one Used later). I'm in Los Angeles County so I can check both the Public Library and the County Library catalog. If it's in a different library, it can be delivered to mine then I just go pick it up when it arrives. Plus the library has reading challenges during the year and I'm sure this is to chart how needed they are for budget and resources. It definitely helps the community. :) And they're fun.
I'm 100% with you on the popular book fomo.. even if i KNOW it wont be my thing it still takes huge amounts of self control to not buy it anyways just to feel included in the hype 😂
you've got me soooo curious about that extra chapter in verity 👀 I've never heard anyone else talk about it and now I'm going to have to excercise some of that self control I just mentioned to not go buy that edition to read it even though you said it's terrible 😂
I ready Verity & Layla by Colleen Hoover, bought all her other books ( because of the hype) and once I started It Begins With Us , I was so disappointed this was marketed as Romance. I just don't think you can glorify domestic abuse and I sold all of her books on Pango. I was a buyer of 'hyped' books but I have tried to do a little better. :) Great vid ! Love watching an unhaul.
Thank you! 💗 Yeah I read Verity first like you but then once I read her other book and found out it was marketed as romance I felt really uncomfortable
I need these videos so I can learn to unhaul the books I don't see myself reading. Thanks for the discussion about TJ Klune. Everyone and their lesbian aunt is recommending Klune's books and I keep reminding myself that author rubs me the wrong way for a reason. I ended up with an ARC of The Extraordinaries from a bookstore where I was friends with the owner. Ended up DNFing it because I was tired of the book being "these cops aren't the bad cops, I promise" vibes, and because YA is just not for me anymore and nothing else grabbed my interest from it. I also unhauled the book so I don't have that negative energy in my home anymore either.
I actually ended up unhauling even more after this because I realized I should stop keeping things I don’t want/will never read lol. I agree with getting rid of the negative energy from those problematic books 🙅🏻♀️
Billy Summers is on my tbr 😭😂 but it’s like the only Stephen king book I have a want to read! We love a good unhaul though 🙊 I got rid of the only Colleen Hoover books I have lol
I kinda want to try some Stephen King, but his well known books are so famous I already know the whole plot and the rest is hit or miss from what I hear. So its hard to get a recommendation. I need to find some of his short stories…
nooooo daijah 😭 I mean I feel like I would like it if there was set up for it in the original book because the extra chapter is very unhinged buuuut I just feel like it ruined the original iconic ending
@@flowerreadsalot the book is good too, if you’re going to read a Stephen King, I’d read The Shining, Pet Sematary or Revival, or maybe some of his short stories!
