Hey everyone, welcome back to another video; in this video, I will talk about how you can extract smooth ride from your KTM 250 Adventure and quite possibly from any motorcycle. Here are 5 tips to achieve the same.
Tip No. 1
This Bike Loves to Warm Up
When you’re starting your motorcycle for the first time of the day or the first time after the engine cools up entirely, keep it a minute or two to warm up completely. The indication that it has warmed up is when the resting RPM levels are almost constant and just under 2k rpm for this particular motorcycle. Initially while starting, the bike sounds as if it’s gasping for breath. Once it’s warmed up, it sounds pleasant and a sweeter sound comes from the engine.
The same goes for riding as well, once you hop on to the motorcycle, don’t rev up and dart of into the distance. I personally ride it slowly initially for almost a kilometre or two till the engine feels quite at ease and then go ahead and push the bike. Otherwise, the engine feels like a brat!
Tip No. 2
Shift the gears around 4500 RPM
Having ridden the bike for a little over 2 years; shifting the gears in the range of 4000 to 5000 RPM range feels smoother overall with the ease of shifting, as well as the responsiveness of the engine. If you shift early, be ready for a display of lethargy.
Tip No. 3
Keep the fuel tank at least half full
I’m clueless on how this can impact the motorcycle, but I have observed that if the tank is at-least half full, the bike is smoother overall. I seriously don’t know the witchcraft behind this, but it worked for me and maybe you should try it out too. On a related note, just like I mentioned in the previous video, there isn’t considerable difference in the level of smoothness when you fill premium fuel. The changes if any in smoothness is minute at best.
Tip No. 4
Keep You Chain and Brakes Clean
As much as it is obvious, this is something that mostly remains on paper. Keeping these clean can mean a smoother ride as well as better stopping properly and better riding performance overall.
Tip No. 5
Adjust the preload based on the weight that the motorcycle will be carrying.
There are a ton of videos on how to calculate and adjust the preload of the motorcycle based on your weight and the luggage or pillion that goes with you. So, check those out and make adjustments with your preload; the other option is to try different settings and tune it till you find it to be perfect for you.
