It's a very small linguistic thing, but I think if we think of ourselves as "advocates for our business," instead of seeing ourselves as "salesmen," it might help some of those people who have a hard time talking about their own businesses (like me).

@8:13 "closing" is the term. My photo skills suck, but my sales skills are 100%. Here's another tip. CANDY JARS BRO! Put your logo/contact on candy jars. Hand them out to clients/potential clients. Move your way into taking the top clients pizza etc. Hang on to your butt cuz you will GROW! :)

Ps. I've litterally invested 30k in gear in 12months and have never made a dollar lol. It's just a hobby. For now...

This is really solid advice, and especially appreciate the part about not lowering your rates. Thanks once again!

Your videos are not only comforting to watch but they really offer so much value. Really feels nice that you're sharing this info like a friend instead of carrying a "sell, sell, sell" persona. Thanks for doing what you do!

Dammit, I am good. LOL... (Well, at least with Lightroom, Photoshop and Topaz to help.) 😎

That's tough, believing the lie "we deserve" Especially when there's zero feedback to PROOVE it as a fact. Sure people you know will tell you "Those are great photos" It's difficult to weed out kindness, When dealing with anyone who is familiar with you. I understand you say as anyone who has worked for themselves for a while will say, "Charge more work less" I feel that kind of mindset comes AFTER one KNOWS... it just feels like attempting to see around a corner, only being halfway up the block. I guess being delusional and seeing things with a cranes perspective removes the corners Tho that's difficult when you are "underground" just trying to feel things out like a mole😂 Yeah I'm all over the place. Guess I have to sit down w myself And not work with any facts and just make of some shit😂

It would have been good if you had mentioned ball-park figures on the rates you should charge for an event

I have in other videos. But there are a lot of factors to consider, such as skill level, the market you're in, etc. There's a poll in my community post you might find interesting. Ballpark figures in the United States: Low end: sub $75 medium end: sub $125, maybe sub $150 higher end: anything higher.

Have you ever worked an event where you make money by charging per person photos? As in not paid by the venue.

I actually steer people away from it, preferring to hire a videographer. Do you have a specific question about it?
