Get The Funk Out (Extreme); drum cover by Sina 

What does WTF mean? Welcome To Friday, of course! Or does it? You hear what you want to hear! THE SONG - "Get The Funk Out" ("GTFO" for brevity) is a song by the American rock band Extreme. It was written by vocalist Gary Cherone and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. It was the fourth track, and second released single, from their album 'Pornograffitti' which was recorded in 1990 at Scream Studios in Los Angeles. 'Pornograffitti' was released on Aug 7, 1990 and it peaked at #10 on June 8, 1991 on the Billboard 200 chart. "GTFO" was released as a single in 1991. It did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100 but entered Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart at #43 on Oct 26, 1991 and peaked at #34 on Nov 16, 1991. In the UK, "GTFO" reached No. 19 in June 1991. Extreme is a difficult band to classify. Their genre is mostly pop/rock/metal. A Massachusetts band, they formed in 1985. Bettencourt had played in a local band with bassist Pat Badger, while singer Gary Cherone fronted his own band with drummer Paul Geary. The two bands eventually merged to form Extreme. The band was influenced by Van Halen, Queen, Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin. Bettencourt also cites The Beatles, Prince, Brian May, and Al Di Meola, among others, as personal influences. Musically, "GTFO" is a funky rock song driven by Pat Badger's bass lines and Paul Geary's drumming. It mostly serves to showcase Cherone's vocal talent and Bettencort's proficiency as he delivers an acclaimed guitar solo. Lyrically however the song is mostly nonsense verse. Get the funk out is a euphemism for an expression that would normally use a considerably ruder word and the singers enjoy repeating the phrase many times throughout the song. If you didn't know the title, you might think they were using the real "F" word. Perhaps that limited radio play and kept the song off the Hot 100? I don't know but it's possible. Using euphemisms and double entendres is common in rock music and other popular media to (hopefully) avoid censorship or banning. One of my personal favorites is the famous SNL "Sofa King" TV skit where the sofa company describes their products as "Sofa King cheap!" Yes, I'll give you the link. This song is pure hard rock music at its finest, hammering drums, driving bass, incredible guitar play and a dirty voice that tells you that the fuNk should be spelled with a 'C' :) :). And if your good mood is back, then do a quick compare to the original Extreme recording. One thing you will notice immediately: Sina's version with a more pronouced drumming makes this song way better than it already was. TY for this wonderful cover!

I still remember when this song came out, like it was yesterday! I had just got my driver's license a year prior, and had graduated high school a week or so before this song was released.
