Instructions unclear, sent the druids packing and stole the harpies from the tiefling

I haven't seen anyone mention this before, but I was able to Indiana Jones it. Cast fog, go to turn based mode, steal and swap with idol of selune. Turn off turn based mode and walk out of cloud and go about your business. They didn't notice until the tieflings left.

You can also resolve Kagha quest and it will be enough to avoid bloodshed. If you notice the entrance to children hideout yourself, you don't have to fight harpies either, it's enough to save Arabella and go easy on Silfy for Mol to give you the quest.

Protip for the harpy fight : Silence is a ritual and while you are in it you are immune to their most annoying ability.

If you steal the Idol back after giving it to mol shes like "If i find out whoever stole the idol from me... IM HIRE THEM =D"

A very important fact missing is the rite of thrones must first be stopped first usually by ousting Kagha with the note from the shadows druids. Then the idol is safe to be stolen by fog method and teleporting to camp. IF the Rites are going on when this happens the druids will attack no matter what.

If you don’t have any fog spells but do have summons, you can also use a familiar who can move objects to slowly inch the idol to a blind spot and then have a companion pick it up that way

my fav method is to expose the shadow druid plot and then all of the druids just kind of sit and chill there. even if you accidentally trigger a fight you can kill them without the game acknowledging it

You don't have to wait until after the tieflings are packing. You can do it after the quest called "investigate Kagha"...but yes you need to get the quest to steal before this.

Tips: you can steal it before exposing khaga but you need to go to camp while the idol is moving from you stealing it. If you go even a second late it'll start dialogue of the druids attacking tieflings. I like to cast fog and stand away from the idol and click it and hover over the go to camp button. As soon as it moves I go to camp and I'm good. Helping the kid steal the locket from that druid is not necessary. I used to worry about saving the druids at the gate but it doesn't matter. Just save mirkon and Arabella. Also cast sanctuary on mirkon before talking to him for a guaranteed win on the harpies.

Also avoid stopping the ritual before taking the quest from mol or she won’t give it to you. Which makes sense since the idea behind stealing the idol is to stop the ritual. But if the rituals stop she won’t want the idol anyways.

300 hours and didn't even know mol wanted it

Easiest way would be to spare the pickpocketing kid to trigger the quest, and go to camp as soon as you grabbed the idol

You can also cast Mage Hand on the pillar the idol is standing on, then grab the idol with the hand while it’s invisible and throw it towards the beach where the druids won’t see you stealing it.

I waited until after I saved the grove but before I saved halsin on my evil run, and Mol didn't want it anymore since the ritual was called off so now I'm just wandering around with it. Glad it at least gives the bonus skills.

Frankly I prefer to keep the idol and pass a speech check to NOT vide it to Mol at the end of the quest.

My druid isn’t gonna take away their idol of Silvanus, but my upcoming rogue just might...

You can also steal it if you do the investigate Khaga sidequest. You don't have to save the camp. This sidequest stops the ritual and allows the Teiflings to remain in thr Grove longer.

Oooooooohhhhhhh thats why the druids killed everyone in my playthrough.....

You can also buy it back or steal it back from Mol in Act 1, don’t have to wait til Act 2.

Also a fun tip for the harpy fight. You can send gale up the cliff before the fight starts and summon a cloud of daggers right on the spot where the first singing harpy is. Fair chance to immediately break the song.

You get the ring by just saving mol in general when you catch her sneaking into the camp. Once you clear the goblins she'll give it to you to thank you.

If you expose Kagha and have a little fight with some rats down in the sanctuary, you can steal the idol right after. You basically just have to make sure there isnt a bunch of druids chanting around it to be able to steal it no problem.

If you do the shadow druid questline and convince Kagha to join you, she will stop the ritual. Instead of all the druid being there, only a few will stay near the idol, easyer to steal.

Damn I found Mirkon's body by the river, near the harpies. I was so confused about who it was. Even speak to the dead wouldn't work on them. My questions have been finally answered

You can also do it without triggering the cutscene if you'll steal idol in turn based and tp away as quick as possible But now if you'll stope in the grove it will insta trigger, that's all until you finish goblin quest. I had a weird way to find it out, yeah Also, it doesn't trigger if you're invisible For some reason

You could also just grab the idol and the second it leaves the pedestal you return to camp. Make sure to save just before en case you mess up but it’s never gone wrong for me

I just did this, except the idol was inside the area, like on the way to nettie. I just didnt talk to halsin first, went inside and stole the idol. If you wait til you talk to Halsin, Khags goes inside and watches the idol like a hawk.

You can steal the idol back from Mol before they even leave the grove. When everyone is hanging near the grove's entrance before they all come to your camp to party you can just pickpocket it back.

For any theft if you Split the one who will steal from the party , send them to camp then quickly switch back to your party and quickly go to camp it doesnt even get noticed. Worked for this and to steal merchant stuff to sell to ethel to buy infinite giant hill potions.

I got it without bloodshed and far before getting near the Blighted Village. I simply used a potion of invisibility, told my Tav to take it from far away, waited for her to get close, had my mouse hovering over the "Go to camp" button, and RIGHT before she grabbed it, I hit the button. I thought that I hit it too soon and would have to try again, but nope! There it was, in my inventory! Left camp, and I was hovering above the spot where the idol was. Nobody seemed to notice. Got the ring, and nobody got hurt.

I realize after many videos I have watched, that on my first play through, I did so many insanely rare things by accident without causing any consequences.

I actually stole the thing in invisibility mode + darkness I think, transferred it through the inventory to my Tav standing right next to Mol, got the ring, stole the idol from her, threw it back to the thief through the inventory again and dropped it back on the altar. If you do it fast enough in turn based mode, nobody would even aggro on you, no matter if the Kagna chilled out or not. 😂

You can also expose Kagha to be with the shadow druids and if you redeem Kagha you basically stop the ritual and the druids aren’t as bloodthirsty after you steal it using fog cloud and save Mirkon. I’d prioritize Mirkon first then exposing Kagha. Edit: Reason for prioritizing Mirkon is to get the quest to steal the idol before exposing Kagha.

You can also this earlier by finding the Shadow Druid letter and then confronting Kargath. If you pass the speech checks and have her rejoin the Druids you can then use fog cloud and steal the idol.

PSA get the quest from mol before resolving kagha quest line. Mol won’t give quest after ritual stops but it’s also easier to steal after ritual stops so get quest resolve kagha steal idol get your ring

I let Wyll play a song (He has the ability from the interaction with the tiefling bard) and the moment everybody crowded him, Astarion gos up, gets it and hand it over in camp. 🎶🎶🎶

Fun fact: if you expose Kahga as a shadow druid, you can steal the idol without having to rescue Halsin. This is useful if you want the ring for a bunch of stuff in Act 1.

My favorite way to steal the idol is to wait until the teiflings are packed up, stack a few boxes by the idol’s display stand, then cast mage hand from a distance and have it throw the idol down towards the river where the bear is. You can pick it up with zero consequences.

Put it in the curious book to keep the buff permanently

Well, now i feel ridiculous... I've been using a bard to use performance and popping and invisibility potion to steal it. Damn it, this is way more effective.

Heard some singing by the beach when I was level 2. I wanted to save the kid but one of my teammates got one shot by a harpy so I was like "F**k them kids!" And fled. Wanted to help Arabella too but I was simping for minthara's approval. Now she's dead too 😅.

My favorite is just using mage hand to throw the idol to a place without eyes on it. For some reason, this doesn't actually affect any NPCs attitude towards your character, but it will for the mage hand. "Attitude Mage Hand -20" no conversation or explaining required, and then pick it up. No spell slot either.

Dunno if it was the version I was playing on but i stole the idol after saving the Grove, everyone was still there, mol reminded me about stealing it but when I did she wouldn't take it and I just had the quest stuck in my journal. Even said I could find her in baldurs gate but even finding her in the guild no option to give it to her. Oh well permanent blessing of silvanus for me

The fastest way to start the questline is just to save the girl from kaga and then talk to the little dude at the door if you pass the perception check you can go in and just talk to mol that way

Maybe this quest would be easier to do if Mirkon didn’t just randomly drop dead in the middle of the harpee fight when running away. I still don’t know what happened

i stopped the ritual by revealing the shadow druids ( using the info about kagha ), and stole the idol with astarion ( sneak, go into turn mode, move the idol to the ground, take it, and then zoom out of there with rogue dash + normal dash just in case )

Easiest way to steal the Idol I have found is to cast mage hand just outside of view and just move it (without picking it up) towards your party and then pick it up once out of view of anyone.

The way I stole the idol of Sylvanis but sold it… 😂

I had no trouble buying the idol back from Mol as soon as I handed it over. I carry it with me wherever I go since it gives skill bonuses.

I wonder if there is unique dialogue with halsin in the party when you steal it.. XD

Ohhh thats what I did wrong. Took the idol and all died lmao. Derailed the entire trajectory of my gale playthrough

if you accept her quest, you can beat the goblins and take the idol after the fact. Give it to her and you’ll still get the reward- then pickpocket the idol back😉

Darkness works a little better than fog.

I find that saving Arabella and sneaking into their hideout is much faster/easier than doing the Harpy fight

Even though I saved the kid from the Sirens, I didn't not let that one kid get slapped for stealing. Apparently that makes me pure evil to them or something.

Just pick it up and quickly exit to camp after the item has lifted off its perch but before it lands in your pack. No one will know you've taken it & it'll be in your pack as soon as you arrive at camp. No bloodshed, no blame, no fuss

Important note, you need to do this BEFORE doing Kaghas quest. Since after you have done her quest Mol won't give you the quest anymore

Something funny is if you drop the idol in camp and try to pick it back up, all companions not in your party will become completely hostile until you kill them.

Good tip, but does anyone know why none of the Tiefling kids are with her when you come across Mol later in the game? She makes a big d al of doing anything to protect them but ... Er, what arent they with her anymore...?

Okay well I didn't save the kid, but did the rest on my first playthrough! I'm just a little loot goblin in these games 😅

You also can while they are chanting go up to it click steal and during the pickup animation go to camp you will have it they will keep chanting and everyone is happy you will even get the inspiration for stealing it if you are a criminal background but only while they are chanting can you do this this and yiu can do this trick with almost everything that you can steal i do this to take the chest from roland in act one

Make sure to have the quest before saving the grove or confronting Kagha. Hardlocked otherwise.

I waited until after I confronted Kagha about the shadow druids then used mage hand and put the idol on the lift, activated the lift and then took the idol

Kinda strange they didnt' have the quest fail after saving the grove since there would be no reason to do it after.. Either way, as it heavily goes against narrative sense (much less the whole teleporting shenanigans required) I'll not use the method myself.

You don't need go go through all this effort for mol's approval... Just save the tiefling from kagha and mol approves of you (for consistency with my advice, dialogue with the parents, choose "no more light fingered antics,") doing exactly this worked the last four times I tried it. Will reply here later if it works again post patch.

Well, I bug abuse it. I straight up walk to take it and then fast travel to the entrance. It takes 1-2 seconds for them to notice. Enough time to open the map and teleport elsewhere.

Complete the shadow druids quest and you're good to go

Update this because I stole the idol when they were packing up... went to find Mol she was gone, tried to give it to her in the shadow lands she wouldn't take it, tried to give it to her in BG she wouldn't take it so I put it in a bag and got 2 blessings for animal handling and nature for me and everyone around me.

Just expose Kagha and make her not excise the Tieflings and then use change appearance out of sight, walk up to the idol, take it and run to the rocks with the harpies

Spoiler cheese: position yourself as close as possible on the right hand corner behind the idol and go to the camp instantaneously. This can be done directly upon reaching the grove. Follow Mol movement in the hidden base down in the grove. If you find his path he's gonna look into a pond, here it is possible to steal it back with Astarion.

I normally just steal it, give it to Mol(get reward), steal it from Mol, then put it back.

You can also get the idol and give to mol by exposing kahga and dont convince her. My run end up everyone inside dead except Rath so I can steal later after clearing goblin camp.

Well for me Mol doesn't like me bc "scared" the Thief kid, but after o shaved the kid from the harpee sooooo yeah 😂 i only wonder what will happen later on with her super special special "deal paper"

Ive just been stopping the rite of thorns and then yeeting the idol to the area where the bear is fishing and picking it up and heading to camp with the person who picked it up, (the pweson who threw it might get a fine or jail tho)

I was able to steal it after stopping the rite when I outed Kagha for working with the shadow people

Or, kill Kagda, un group your Tav. Sent the rest around the corner and up the steps. Steal idol, misty step and dash, join the four, kill all the chasing druids at distance 2 at a time. Cash in idol and everyone’s cool. Exp dump.

Alternatively, I "discovered" that you can utilize the iron flask as a distraction, allowing you to casually and openly pick up the idol. The druids will be too preoccupied to even care that you picked it up. If done right, not a single tiefling will be harmed, only a couple of druids!

Dont know if they fixed it or not but i remember that in later acts the idol wont give you any buffs but if you place it on the ground and pick it up it will make everyone hostile towards you including companions who are not currently in your party

You know you can take the idol and add son as the idol moves, go to camp. No aggro. No one noticed

wish id seen this before trying and failing to steal it and then quickly fast travel, causing damon to die in my honor mode run 🙃
