if you think that's bad... well... it's worse for us guys... my girlfriend was 10 years older than me. during the beginning of relationship, when we go out to restaurants, especially fancy ones, the waiters frequently just put the checks on HER side of the table...kind of embarrassing and awkward for me. what made it worse was that she made almost 20 times what I was making, so she always was buying things for me. I didn't want to hurt her feelings, so I just accepted them without saying anything. that made my friends/family think that I was a male gold digger or something.

My parents have a 12 and a half year difference, they never really felt the age gap until recently cause they're both getting older and my dad (he's older) is becoming a bit of a grumpy grandpa and my mom now is like I'm gonna have to stand his grumpiness lol. My husband and I are 15 years apart. If I'm a golddigger, I did it wrong, though, haha! My husband works hard and is financially stable, but we're far from rich! We just love each other and get along great! I'm an old soul and he's young at heart; there are many times I feel like the older one. We're a cross-cultural couple too. There were things to work out, but as Tay said, communication is key. We're best friends and love spending time together. We've been married five years and are expecting our first child. That sugar daddy concept, girl I felt that on so many levels! My partner and I have a 15yr age gap but for us it didn't matter. We realized that our standards, moral values, ideas, etc. aligned so well that there was a potential to grow as a couple. It's been 10 yrs and I do not regret the decision of having him as my significant other. People just love gossiping; at this point I just let them (I'm too old and too tired to fire back). If I was with someone for their money, I would have rinsed them and moved on to the next 😂 people, it's 2018, love comes in all forms and sizes ❤️❤️❤️

My mom and dad are 10 years appart. They balance eachother. Some people don't understand that even though you have a certain age, your emotional and mental age can be totally different. Honestly, I find that people who feel the need to point fingers at others and nitpick, usually are unhappy with their own choices and have a very limited vision of life.

I agree. I work in a tobacco store, and many of my customers that are in their 30’s will act like they’re sooo old. I always make sure to let them know that they’re not. While their brain has now fully developed, they’re in their first decade of fully developed maturity. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, in fact it should be CELEBRATED! Your 30’s-50’s are some of your best years of life if you let it be! Your 20’s are for finding out who you are and where you fit in society. You’re learning and exploring. Every decade provides its own opportunities. 🙂

My parents are 12 years apart too. I actually really loved it as a kid because it gave me a wider perspective on things that happened in the past because they remembered it differently. It's never bothered me that people have an age difference. I definitely think that once you're older, it doesn't feel as much like an age gap as much as needing to be similar in values.

I love this so much! Social media is all about human connection and I think you've finally breached that barrier in a way that compliments your lifestyle based channel. I know it was tricky because explaining everything entailed releasing super private details that clearly were out of your comfort zone, but I'm so glad you did this in your own time despite the pressure you received. I love how you guys are so understanding and accepting of each other and of any differences you might have. I think we're all inherently raised to think that our culture and ways of doing things is the best and sometimes it's hard for a person to accept that there are other ways of thinking and doing things in different cultures. Some people think "My culture is the best. The way these people do things is weird. Why are they doing/saying that? That's so stupid". But I think the love you and Elbow-san have for one another could have only been made possible with your open minds and willingness to understand and learn about one another and each other's cultures

I’ve always admired you and after watching this video, I feel close to you guys more!! I just got married last summer with the guy who’s Canadian (I’m Japanese) and 14 years older than me. I love him but I was nervous about culture difference and age gap before. I’m more comfortable and have confidence now tho. When elbow San said that he couldn’t speak English much at first, I was like meee tooooooo!!!!lol I’m still learning everyday. And, finally , one important thing I must say is Thank you for your generosity to share with thousand of people your personnal life and couple life, and to show a great example of what real love and real life is: made of ups and downs, but persever in your love life, not quit your boyfriend and go with lots of guys at the first difficulty, or just because there is one thing that bugs you, etc. We dont have so many exemples on tv or movie of all you have to do to keep a long couple life...I thing both of you named the essentiel things you need: respect, communication, taking care of each other familly, interest in each other passion and having a part of your life where you're different and independant. A previous boyfriend and I had an age difference of 16 years - I was 22, he was 38 (but everyone swore he looked 27!). We met at university. I didn't realize his age at first, but quickly we realized that our values were the same and we moved past it. I liked that we could both introduce the other person to new things, and he told me that my energy kept him young. Our thought processes complimented each other well, and we lasted 2 years! We only split because our careers were headed in different directions and we didn't want to do long distance. As long as you are consenting adults, age really is just a number!

That's the age difference my grandparents used to have ❤️ they started dating when my grandma was 16 (that would not fly nowadays lol) and lived such a loving life together until my grandad died just over a year ago, aged 96 ❤️. I used to date someone who was 10 years older than me. Age doesn’t matter. As long as y’all love each other, it doesn’t matter. Oh and also that situation where you get sick and still have to suck it up, I know how you feel. One time I threw up before going to school and my moms exact response was “You’re still going. You’ve already missed to many days for this year”. I missed only like 3 out of the 10 days I can miss. She told me take medicine to still go to school.

I had my first boyfriend at the age of 21. Who was 7 years older than me and that only lasted 6 months. He wasn't for me and i wasn't ready to settle down since i was still enjoying my life.
