Hey Nolly, if you read this, or Misha or Matt, anyone that worked on the GGD samples or the Neural DSP sims, thank you for making it really easy and affordable for people to put their ideas down on paper with the quality and care that you guys have for your products. Not to get too serious or heavy, but it means a shitload to me to be able to sit down and write again and have samples/amp sims that are this quality, because I had an addiction problem when I was younger and I ended up selling all my music stuff just to get messed up, but to be able to come back and start writing again and not have to buy back $5k worth of gear just to get a decent sound has been a huge leg up and a major inspiration. I hope to someday be good enough to be mixing/engineering for a living like you guys do. Again thank you and all the best to everyone involved with GGD and Periphery

A really good addition to the kit would be the reverb IR sample of the room this was recorded in, so one could use third party percussion/samples and make them feel like they're in the same room.

I completely get why Nolly is so crazy about the room sound. That’s actually what brought me here: I watched his drum mix masterclass a year ago and came back because that super explosive snare sound stuck with me for a WHOLE YEAR. There’s a sound I will never forget.

Our band did its last recordings with this kit and it sound great. Easy to use and really enjoyable, it perfectly fits with the modern rock sound we were looking for. Really happy with the final result. Still revelent even 5 years after the release, congrats.

4 years later still using this on every session. Came back to this vid cause I'm forever refining my multi-out template and I wanted to refresh myself on the differences in the overhead mics and to see if kick sum is a blend of kick in/out or just one of those. Thanks for the info!

I have no problem admitting my shortcomings when it comes to plugin issues. And since no one at GGD can or wants to help (I've even sent them video of the problem) , I reach out to the masses. When I click on a drum or play one of the grooves it registers in GGD but I get nothing in Ableton 11 (on a new computer with windows 11). While setting up the new computer there where no other issues. A TON of thanks to any who can help.

I hate Kontakt. Trying to mult then out to separate tracks is a nightmare, so bad I don't even use it for drums anymore. Slate and EZ are just as good and easier.

Question: My QDrum 24x16 Steel Kick Sample in Modern and Massive seems to have some pedal noise at the end of it. How can I get rid of it in the plug in? Thanks! -Tobi

Seriously, it's so bad. Also humungous room noise. Noise gating definitely takes away from the realism of this sample.

It is possible to select GENERAL MIDI in Modern and Massive? I’ve installed everything correctly on kontakt and selected all the outputs in Cubase and Kotankt, everything works fine but the mapping it’s not correctly assigned. Thank you 🙏🏼

I don't really know, but you can program your own map. Which is pretty cool. I write my drums in Guitar Pro, and I adjusted GGD to work with the midis I get from it.

Hi Nolly! Great videos! If you take questions... I don't know happened, but my GGD (Agressive Rock) has Kick at high volume, but the rest of the kit is half volume! All mixers and levels are the same as the kick. So if you or anyone has any suggestions, I'm at a loss for why this is... thanks everyone!

Can you “crash” on the ride cymbal though? Or is full velocity just a heavy bell/ping sound still? Many drummers actually will crash on the ride too….super low pitch and washy. Thanks in advance for your response!

Perhaps I missed something here but are there different articulations or is it just one sound per drum? Hopefully this will get answered before the 30% sale is over. I have SD3 but it’s a processor hog. How heavy is this on the CPU?

Hey Nolly, with M&M, do I still need to do the 16 inputs like you demonstrated in the Matt H. kit? I did it but looking at the M&M interface it seems all the bases are covered as far as mixing. Any reason to do it?

sorry for the stupid question but how can I make my kontakt5 look like the one nolly uses? I don't want to have my library menu on the left and the keyboard at the bottom seems to be quite helpful too... BTW just purchased M&M yesterday and I'm super stoked with it! EDIT: forget my question, I just managed it on my own haha

Even if i disable the bleed i can still hear the other mics passing into the kick channell specially after being routed out of kontakt.

I cant load this plugin within cubase. It works within kontakt standalone, but not within kontakt opened in cubase pro 8.5. It just freezes the whole program any help? Other libraries work and load

I've watched this video several times, I can't figure out how to add pieces to the drum kit. I bought modern and massive without realizing that there's only one kick, and three Toms in the drum kit. Yes you can choose from different sounding pieces but you can't add pieces in? You can't have two different kicks? You can't have four or five toms? Why is that? Is this possible and I'm just not seeing how? I've been pulling my hair out LOL trying to figure this out and have had no luck, please give me some guidance!

Hey man, have you had any luck figuring that out yet? I'm thinking of buying GGD modern and massive but if I can only have the number of drums and cymbals showing on the default set up at any one time then I wont bother as I have an expanded e-kit with many cymbals and drums.

Surely not the best solution and I don't even know of it works but have you tried to set up 2 drum kits, which you handle separately and mix and program in a way that they feel and act like one big kit?

I really feel like you guys should revisit/UPDATE the Q Drum kick, denoise the samples from the huge room tone/machine sound in the mid low range, & definitely trim the end of the kick to get rid of that horrendous scratchy squeak sound permeating/ruining the samples. It's unfortunate because that drum has the best tone out of all of the kicks, but those 2 factors make it almost unusable without a ton of processing & it could have all been eliminated from your end of the product development stage.

I’m shopping nolly’s drum libraries with the current sale that’s going on. Have you been happy with mordem and massive? Looks like one of their older libraries but still sounds good and versatile to me. If there’s another library I should look at, let me know what you’ve learned over the last year!

@@dylanjastle PIV is my favorite, maybe Architects. PIV or M&M would probably be the most versatile because of the options. But you can get a lot of genres out of Modern Fusion too, with no kit change options however.

Hi Nolly! I'm really interested in buying this awesome library but I have a question. Since I'm a mixing and mastering engineer, if I use the turbo version of this kits, eq wise, should I post process it to get a right space frequency balance in the mix or it's perfectly mix ready? Maybe it would depend from song to song but I'd like to know if I can tweak the turbo kits without major phase issues.

Hey Gianluca, there's no phase issues while using the turbo - you can set any of the turbo knobs to anywhere between 0-100% and everything will still work. How much you want to use is up to you. With all faders at 100% turbo you'll have a great, usable drum mix but there might still be things you want to hear differently of course.

Doom Rot when you have the EQ’s it’s really easy to get more low end without tuning it just by kicking up the sub switch

In my version of M&M there is no drop down 'arrow' where you select: Factory>Default Kit, 100% Turbo

I had this issue a few times. If you have a look next to the top where it says “Modern & Massive Drums”, you’ll see a camera icon and an information icon. Click on the camera and that drop down menu comes back. It took me so long to figure this out on the Matt Halpern Pack! 😂 I think it’s because we have to change the MIDI channel to Omni on the information tab and forget to put it back.

Hey GGD, love these new kits, but theres something weird happening I noticed; when there are many close hits in succession, and say there's a hard hit immediately followed by some soft hits it cuts off the hard hit really hard and suddenly in an unnatural way that's immediately picked up as off by the ear, and is something I noticed happening in the actual midi packs provided. This is also something that I did not notice happening with the Halpern signature drums previously. Anything I can do about this?

Nolly, I recently purchased GGD Modern & Massive, it sounds really awesome. I'm just having some trouble in loading my own programmed MIDI drums to GGD play, it loads through the groove player, but when exported to midi track it does not play... I'm devastated... Even if I just copy and paste the midi sequence to GGD track, there is no sound. I hope there is a solution for that. Thanks in advance

Cause there's basically only one tuning per tom (excluding a few rack toms, but its only ONE semitone), adding another tom would just be another tom that sounds exactly the same.

Dont WASTE your money. This is dependent on Native Instruments kontackt player.....which is an absolute nightmare to install on at leat 75% of studio computers. I have an expensive Sweetwater Creative station, 2021 version with massive ram and memory, i7 core....and I have spent at least 10 hours trying to get native instruments to help with the constant failed installation.I have reached out to tons of other studio owners and novice studio dudes.....and a massive amount of all have the same issue with not being able to get the native instruments app to install after creating an account with them and all the other hoops they require. Get yourself something from a company that backs their product and is not dependent on another company that has horrible customer service. Addictive Drums, Superior drummer, EZ drummer, Steven Slate... so many companies out there that wont run you through an obstacle course to purchase their product.
