This song is subliminally so deep, it might go right over the average person's head. When I was 20 and bumping this had a totally different interpretation of this song..Now that I'm 30 yrs older, been to hell and back...A much wiser and seasoned man, I now know the real meaning of this song. His " Paranoia" was actually conviction in his heart warring within his own body, flesh vs spirit, for all the bad things he did...The wages of these actions is death...That' creep that he's seeing in his sleep.. is death itself coming to collect it's debts from him...His life...... Mind Playin' Tricks was initially supposed to be a Scarface solo track. He produced the beat and wrote three of the four verses. When the label decided to make it a Geto Boys track, Bill rapped Face's third verse and Willy D wrote an additional one.

The aong was wriiten bcuz of wat his grandmother used to say. His grandmother had a saying, wen she wud mumble somthn, face wud ask her wat sid she say? She wud respond by saying, "nothn baby, my mind playn tricks on me!" Scarface originally wrote the song for himself, but thought it wud be better used with his group members so he split up the verses btween he, willie and bushimwick bill. Scarface wrote the entire song.
