Nipped into a corner shop to buy a drink in Moss Side about 15 years ago. Had to go into a caged area before being let in, once deemed to be OK. Only other place I've seen a similar system is with Polar Bears at Yorkshire Wildlife Park.

It's a matter of opinion but Moss Side isnt too bad, you have the gangs but they battle with each other and i feel safer walking round there than other areas mentioned here in the comments. Moston used to be like the Wild West but now it's had a great influx of African people its a lot safer to walk around at night and that's to its credit. Parts of Cheetham and Broughton are rough but as a separate city, Salford has the roughest estates by far in greater manchester. Good video bro.

I grew up on the border with Old Trafford and Moss Side as a kid, as well as spending a couple of years in Wandsworth, in SW London. And I can tell you that neighbourhoods in North and East Manchester like Openshaw, Clayton and Harpurhey are all rougher than Moss Side. Moss Side has improved a lot over the past 20 years although it still has its.issues.

I was born in Salford and regularly parked up at Moss Side to watch City at Maine Road. In my opinion, Moss Side is the scarier of the two. Salford Precinct made me feel tense walking through it, but walking through Moss Side just made me feel uneasy. Didn't want to be there longer than I needed to. Not actually been to Moss Side since the late 90's, so maybe I've just got an old fashioned view of the place, hopefully things are better.

You’re getting two things mixed up here really. There’s at least two or three degrees of rough. People rarely get bothered if they’re not looking for it in Moss Side. Moss of the gang related stuff is gang on gang. It’s a massive student and ethnic area. However if you’re a dick or get on the wrong side of the wrong people you’ll be dealt with no doubt. But this is different from being inherently rough to the degree that walking round it you’ll be liable to get a smack in the mouth l/mugged or worse. With that in mind I can think of at least 5 rougher areas in the north of the city between the city centre and Middleton that are far tougher than Moss Side and where you are liable to just being jumped for no reason at whilst minding your own business. Also I wouldn’t class Wythenshawe as being right next to Moss Side in any meaningful way. It’s very close by car but on foot it might as well be a million miles away.

So sad, in the 80's all these estates where better. That's what you get with unlimited immigration especially illegal immigration. We need tighter laws like Australia and have proper asylum processing, not letting 20-30 year old men in who claim they're minors and have no ID whatsoever!
