It would never have occurred to me to freeze the pie before baking it. And it looked SO good! You're brilliant, girl! Hi Miss Lori, I have enjoyed your pie making. I have made so many pies over my lifetime. I recall watching my grandma even make her pies and I am almost 84 years old! I will be planning on baking pumpkin and a black raspberry pie for our Thanksgiving. I doubt if I freeze any as my freezers are pretty full right now. Trying this today with some wonderful Stayman Winesap apples from Pennsylvania and some lovely Golden Delicious apples from here in Maine. I have to tell you, I recently purchased a silicone mat to roll out pastry. Then, lo and behold, I see you’re trick of using a flour dusted dish towel. Wow. It’s great. What a great trick be it for pie crust or bread dough or biscuits. Works like magic then goes into the laundry. Love it. The only plus on the side of the silicone map is it has the measurements on it showing you how big to roll out your crust. Keep your wonderful videos coming Lori. Oh Miss Lori, I just adore you! You remind me of one of my lovely prior co-workers who grew up in the hills of Kentucky with all her wonderful stories and sweet southern voice ❤️.( and her work ethic could just put me to shame... She taught me a lot about that as well...). I haven't worked with her for close to twenty years but I've never forgotten all the wonderful country stories she told us about growing up in the Appalachian Mountains and her sweet, simple life there.😘
Mrs. Lori, Thank you for this Apple pie recipe and the freezing directions too. A sister at Church gave my husband and me, a recipe that I fixed much like yours, for canning apples pie filling.. I used it so much I don't remember the amounts of apples & spice amounts... I canned the Single pie in pint jars and 2 to 3 in quart jars... It was written in a composition book I kept for recipes. In moving Alot back then I guess I misplaced it. We've bought this home and thank the Good Lord, we've lived here for 15 this past June... Plus, I saved our rent receipts for seven years...That helped us get our mortgage.. Anyway, thank you for doing this video.

I love homemade pies. I always think I’m going to make this one and that one and then the holiday show up and I haven’t made them. This is a great tip and thanks for the step-by-step instructions on how to freeze and break it. Have you ever made home made cherry pie filling from scratch? I’ve always wanted to do it but it seems so tedious. Now I want apple pie and ice cream. my family only eats cornbread dressing! in fact I have yet to test a bread dressing that I like. I was so happy to hear you say that. My grandpa was born in raised in Arkansas and he thought my grandma how to make it and she passed it on to all of us. Would love to see how you make yours. Grandma put apples and white raisins in hers. She said they had to be white raisins. Thanks for a great video my friend.

We strongly believe in hospitalty and encouraged people to "just stop by" on occassion. So if you freeze them, then you have some dessert on hand. Nobody expects to have dessert in such situations and then they asre very surprised and happy. Such desserts really help for church pot luck dinners when you wouldn't have time on that day to knock one out.
Y'all are so cute; you could be prom queen & king! How I remember working up dish pans full of sweet potato pie filling & pumpkin pie filling with mama & my aunt~then putting it in freezer cartons to make pies through the holidays & winter. Thx for the happy memory. Mr. Brown looked like the apple pie was really good! :)
Your Apple pie looked absolutely delicious. I grew up in northern Maine and we have a camp in the Haynesville woods. One of my uncles and aunt was a visiting from Connecticut 1 late summer day and we were taking them down to camp in the Haynesville woods. It just so happened that the raspberries were ripe and as we were driving into camp my aunt kept talking about how ripe the raspberries looked and how it was a crime to not pick them. She suddenly out stop the car and all of us kids my mother my father my at nikal all piled out of the car instead of picking raspberries. After we picked every raspberry that we could see we went home. My mother made on a shopping list for my father and my Uncle and they went to the store to get everything they would need so my dad could make homemade Vanilla Ice cream. My mother my aunt my sister and I were cleaning raspberries at the kitchen table and on my dad and my Uncle came home mom put everything that she needed to put in the Pan and cook it up. After that my father and my Uncle took over. They get the ice blocks out of the deep freeze went down stairs and broke them up and put everything in the ice cream maker and made the ice cream while my aunt and my mother get together to make the raspberry pies. That night supper consisted of vegetables from the garden and I can't tell you for the life of me what we ate for supper. Just that it came from the garden. However I have no problem remembering what dessert was like. It was absolutely spectacular. We never did make it into camp to go swimming but that's OK. It was worth it. I will remember to do this with the fruit pies for the holidays. Thank you so much for all of your advise.
Hi, we come from the North East of England and have a son who married a lovely American girl 7 years ago. Whilst visiting I (Mary)always look for Pecan Pies but would love to see and bake your recipe for them I’m sure after watching all your videos your recipe would be the most authentic. For years I used tin foil to keep edges from burning until about 5 yrs ago I bought a pie ring that fits perfectly around 9 or 10 inch pies, have never had any over browning issues at all. Best thing I ever bought for under 5 bucks.
My mom used to make pies in those pans if we were going to a potluck or something so she didn't have to worry about her Pyrex getting lost or forgotten.
