ya'll.. I'm well aware of the curly girl method and the fact that i have wavy hair😂 wasn't about to waste any time styling it right before going to the salon! I love my natural hair texture but it's much more difficult + time consuming to care for and style wavy/curly hair in a country with extremely high humidity and very little curly hair products. Happy New Year💗
Oh my Lord i can so relate to this, I'm a guy and i have long wavy hair and the time it takes to care for my hair is just so much, i have 4 different shampoos for different reasons, and it always starts proofing up on the side and gets in my face and the ends are so dry right now, so I'm cutting it at the end of the month so that it's easier and takes less time since it's so long right now (goes down to my shoulder blades when it's wavy which doesn't sound long but it's a lot to wash since it's rly thick) obviously not the same scenario as you but love that someone acknowledges how much care wavy hair can take
I can relate to this, I have a 2a-3a type of hair which is curly and I live in a tropical country, I always styled my long hair whenever I go somewhere else. AND ITS A HASSLE it's so time consuming especially I had a very long hair. So after Christmas I decided to cut it short, curly wolf-cut. And now, it's easy to style it. And I like the kinda messy look of my hair. It's so cute looking. And Happy new year as well!💗
@@vinziiiiiii i am from belgium and had a chemical keratin mates do a few years ago and it really ruined my hair. I had curly puffy hair. last year i had a natural keratin done on another woman and my hair became much easier to manage. meanwhile I did my second keratin treatment with the same woman because I was so impressed. my hair is thinned and instead of being on my hair for 3 hours, I am now only on my hair for 1 hour. I had very curly hair, but it is still curly, but much less than it used to be. a few more keratin treatments to go and the curls are almost completely gone. I go back every 6 months for the keratin treatment. I personally wanted thinner hair because my hair was super thick and had the feeling that this was not beautiful. my parents are originally from Spain and Morocco, so I don't have European hair. The results are for everyone different. I recommend it for people with thick hair and curls. I only recommend the natural one. The chemical one just ruins your hair. Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language.
Not people telling her to do the curly girl method but if she posted a video of her doing it people would bash her for not having “actual curly hair”. 💀💀
@@momplspickmeupimscared the toxic CGM people I’ve seen were people who denied they use the wrong products. They’d have a 2C and say it’s a 3b and buy up the products that are too heavy for their hair then complain about how the product does their hair and the brand changes the product and people with curly/kinky hair that’s around 3b-4c have to find new products. There should be no reason to put Mielle 4c bundle in hair that’s 2a/2b and thin. It crazy.
@@okaykh-o5316 weird the only toxic CGM people I saw say that only 4a and up hair is really curly and 2c people arent allowed. They also accuse everyone, even non-white non-american folks, off cultural appropiation. I, a turkish girl, wearing a traditionally turkish silk band (tülbent) to protect my hair from frizz during sleep was accused of culturally appropiating american women of color and told my 3a hair isn't "really curly". Also, some of them believe "white people can't naturally have curls" which by far is the dumbest thing I heard. Btw what you say are people who just dont know better and can't take critism well. It doesn't harm anyone else except them when they use the wrong products. On the other hand, gatekeeping hurts others.
A lot of people don't understand that not all of us love our natural hair even if we treat it right. No one's obligated to use CGM when they have curly/wavy hair if they like them straight lol
Plus CGM is so time consuming and a literal process. I don't wanna do all that just for my hair. My hair is very thin so globbing a bunch of product on it will make it greasy way faster and cause buildup making it even thinner over time.
right, i have wavy hair but i work full time and have online classes also, my shifts are 12 hours long so i don’t always have time to do what my hair wants me to do 😅
Right ? I have curly hair but I hate having tangles and CGM implies not brushing them for days ! And their wide tooth comb dont do shit to my hair. So I peefer them straight and I feel fine this way
@@rewdskwid if you have thinner hair, just use less product/less heavy products. Honestly just switching to sulfate/paraben free shampoo and adding a spray leave in conditioner helped my hair so much
@@naufrage0 Oh boy, I would never recommend doing this at home. The chemical they use is so strong that it literally burns sometimes. Have you tried doing it at home? I just think it's a disaster waiting to happen. I do not trust myself at all 💀
I think she knows that her hair is wavy, but doesn’t like it that way, and brushes it to make it straighter. My hair is like this too, but it hasn’t looked like that since middle school, when I learned not to brush it when it’s dry, and to get long and medium layers in my haircut to prevent it from poofing out into a triangle. I wish someone had taught me these tips, but I had to learn them by myself!
People really need to let people live their own lives. If someone feels better styling straight hair, let them be. I’m sure she’s aware chemicals are involved…but it’s her hair.
I have a straight af hair but humidity can affect even my hair. I can imagine how it will affect wavy/curly hair 🙃 I always think that styled wavy hair is so pretty but that's it, I completely understand why she prefers straight hair because it IS so much easier to deal with 😅
The perm looks great, super smooth and straight, but looking at the before pictures your hair kinda seems like it might be wavy instead of thick and frizzy straight hair. Maybe if you ever feel like it you could give waves a try, I'm sure you'd look great. Though this comes from watching just one of your videos so you may have already tried or don't want to, so either way just do what feels right for you 😊
I think it's a convenience thing. My sister has beautiful wavy hair and I never understood why she would get it permanently straightened. She said it's simply because she can get ready in ½ the time now. Although beautiful, her wavy hair required special products and a lot more patience and care. She doesn't even feel the need brush her hair now; it looks perfect as soon as she wakes up.
Wavy hair is 2a- 2c, it looks like her hair is 1b or 1c which is still technically straight hair. It would have been better for her to just use serums to keep the frizz down.
@@Georgeツ I mean, yes. But at some point you need to be patient with your hair. Perm treatments and overstraightening can and will damage your hair eventually. I don't have waves, I have curly hair. I have been transitioning from straight to curly for the past year and I've been paying one heck of a price for it. My curls are defined but they're trully dehydrated and frizzy, just *dead*. though yes, straight hair is convenience. But we need to trade convenience for health at times so I'd reccomend your sister to give her waves a little care from time to time to maintain it not only manageable, but healthy.
Not everyone has to keep their wavy hair. They might just prefer it straight. Secondly, looking at her hair, the wave is VERY minimal- even with proper care and products it won’t be that big of a different. It looks cute straight
@@iland2isrigged I've had it done to my hair it's not semi permanent. The portions of the hair that the process is done on will be straight until cut off.
@@JoeMama-1diot😂 right! Honestly what difference does it make to get 15k likes? Does RU-vid send people a coupon for Sizzlers or something? I can never understand this obsession people have with getting likes. There are no prizes, are there?
Okay but for all of u who are confused abt getting this treatment done, she already did the pros, I'll do the cons. - damaging to the hair ( I had it done twice, i didn't notice it early on but it did damage my scalp, my hair fall increased just slightly but the regrowth rate reduced drastically) - once your hair starts growing, the difference will look ugly, so you will have to redo the treatment for the roots and it's an endless loop. ( You need 3 or more inches to do the root touch up, so until that your hair will look bad) - your hair will become oily after 3 days, but that's easy to deal with -sometimes your hair will set weird, so you will have to rewash your hair. Hope this makes your decision easier.
💯! I’ve had it done a few times in Japan and after a while noticed that way more of my hair started falling out/became much weaker on average 😢 in the end I don’t know if it’s related but the chemicals are strong and I can’t imagine it was good for my hair/scalp even though hairdressers claim it won’t cause any problems
For anyone wondering that hasn’t found an answer yet, it’s Japanese/Korean straightening/Straightening perm. The first solution is to break the bonds of the hair and straightening it with the iron helps to shape the bonds in the desired straight way, the second solution seals the bonds to maintain that style. The hair is permanently like that until it grows out or unless it’s damaged by things like salt water or products containing salt. There’s lots of other information regarding this but that’s the gist. Also, there’s lots of types of perms and lots of names for them, just research peeps. ✌🏼
When I had mine done while I was living in Japan it blew my mind. Absolutely life changing how great it makes your hair look afterwards. I wish it were cheaper to redo stateside though 😭💸
I feel like you could benefit from some sock overnight curls. Tbh to perm flattened your hair a lot and the volume you had originally is to die for. This is your preference of course, I’ve just seen so many overnight curl transformations. Your hair type would be perfect for them. 😊
Can't wait for her to make a video in a year like "I always thought I had frizzy hair, but turns out I have wavy/curly hair, I'm going to try the curly girl method. You can see here on my roots it's really working but my ends are flat because of this korean hair treatment I did."
Some wavy hair are just impossible to maintain and more costlier to buy good curly hair products than just getting it straightened. I spend hours while using shampoo, hair masque, conditioner, hair cream and frizz control oil but 15 minutes out and it looks like a bird nest esp in the summer. Hence i just tie my hair all the time. I don't straighten my hair only because it looks flat on my chubby face. Wish i could get a pro stylist to suggest me a good solution.
@@klowee5240 I would not call her lazy I have the same hair type as her and straightening it takes over two hours and getting it curly takes four hours in the shower with paying way to much on products then comes out in 15 mins.
Maybe because we were there until we understood that all hair patterns are beautiful, and that not treating our hair for what it is can be a whole lot more damaging, frustrating and expensive
From what she said in the video, her main problem is the amount of time it takes to manage her hair. No saying there are no downsides to this treatment, but it will definitely fix her problem
I use to do this permanent Japanese straightening, same thing as this. Anyways, my hair was almost at my butt and then I decided one day to embrace my natural hair texture (curls). So I had to chop off my hair to about my chin 🤦🏻♀️ then slowly but surely I began to grow back out my hair while using the correct curly girl products (trial and error) and I’ve never lived my hair more!! It’s past my boobs now but with the curly girl shrinkage it’s like…right on top of my boobs loll
Sooo true it really gives back time.. I had curly hair and i had to style it whenever I wanted to go out it would takes 45 min to 1 hour and had to consider my clothes and accessories (since I didn't want it to be too much or over) but know i just shower change clothes comb it and finish!! It coasted about 110$ mine was kera treatment my hair will be straight but when it grows.. the hair from the root will be curly.. Otherwise it stay the same
@@meowgy oh wait mb i thought the beginning was her hair straightened. i have curly hair and even if i brush it, it still dries curly without product in it
I actually do this every year cuz I hate managing my hair too. A lot of people tell me to keep my natural hair blah blah.. but you should do what is most convenient for you
Correct me if I’m wrong, I thought a perm was when they put texture into your hair. This seems more like a relaxer ? I just remember getting them done and going through a roughly similar process especially the smelly lotion that went in to break the hair bonds lol……it was like a funky chemical fish
unfortunately a lot of products are know to cause cancer.. bought a bag of chips that had a cancer warning before and also pet bedding or shoes so yeah unfortunately we are surrounded by cancer causing things 😖
everything causes cancer babe. if you worry about everything that causes cancer, you would be staying inside doing nothing and eating nothing. 🙄 cancer doesnt discriminate and it can literally appear out of thin air. theres no use worrying when we literally cant do anything about it
Helloooo!! This was my experience getting a “straight perm”!! It was exactly the same as this process except mine took 6 hours yikes 😫! I went to a Korean salon and I got a Brazilian blowout which basically does the same thing this does and I’ve had it for 2 weeks now! It made my hair look so much smoother and silky soft. For reference my hair is slightly wavy and I would be happy with my hair except for the fact I tied my hair really tight for 2 years every day every hour except when I slept. This made a ponytail mark that was impossible to get out so I really didn’t have a choice! Mine was around $90 as well and now my hair is stickkk straight. I have pretty thick hair so it doesn’t make me look like an egg but imo it’s kinda too straight. Might get a wavy perm in the future but it was sooo hard to convince my parents so for now i just curl it once it air dries and boyyy is my life way easier now❤
My hair is like her "after" picture. Super straight and looks silky (but tangles quite quickly). I like my hair, but hate the fact that there's no volume. So I can't have haircuts without layers, because they just make the top of my head super flat. I always call my hair like spaghetti, it's THAT straight and volume-less. I've gotten so many compliments on my hair, ppl asking me what treatment I've done, and Idk what to tell....it was just shampoo (my mum didn't allow me to use conditioner, because our hair is already straight and silky, I've only just started using conditioner at the age of 26 after moving to UK, cos I've noticed my hair is more rough and frizzy after coming here), but my main issue is the volume. I look like I'm wearing a wig cap when I'm not, that's how flat it is.
We always want what we don’t have… I have naturally curly hair, full of volume and length, but was bullied for it and told it was “ugly” and that I would look better and 10x prettier with straight, flat hair :/
@@sammierose1150 Gosh, that's so terrible! I'm sorry that happened to you! But you're right, we're never happy with what we have 😅. Worse is when these horrible words are told to us when we're young and impressionable, and we begin to mirror their projections, until common sense hits us. I wish people wouldn't give unwarranted opinions when it has nothing to do with them. Tbf, I like my hair, I've tried curling my hair and it doesn't suit my face, I just wish I had more volume. I remember in school, everyone would ask me about my hair (and in my head I'll be like why TF are they asking about my hair that gets greasy in a day and makes me look like I dunked my head in a vat of oil, but I've obviously matured lol), and I would be obsessed with this one girl's hair which was kinda wavy/curly, shiny af, bouncy, and so voluminous. She was the one that made me wanna try curling my hair because she maintained it so well. She would say that I was the only one who liked her hair and played with it. There was another girl (I didn't know her that well), who's hair I was also kinda envious of. She had straight and silky hair exactly like mine, but my god the volume was insane.
I got this done last year. Was amazing the results. I am very lazy with my hair routine so it saves me so much time getting ready for work. Very costly if you have long/thick hair so what you paid is amazing.
I used to have your exact same hair natural hair! Omg 😭 and I found out 2 years ago that I’m a curly girl! All those straightening salon treatments and straightening products didn’t allow my full curls to come out. It wasn’t until I chopped off my treated hair and switched to CGM-friendly products did my natural curls finally appear. I swear I never felt more free and alive when I was finally able to wear my natural hair after 15 years of straightening it. Please do try researching about CGM!
I did this treatment years ago and also used to brush my hair like straight hair when I was in uni. I thought I had bad unruly hair which always be frizzy and dry. Years later, I realized my hair wasn't the problem, my technique was. I love my curly hair now and straighten it 1/2 times a year max.
@@ola-gf9rqand how would you style wavy hair? Most styles just look messy, unless you straightten it first. Even braids turn out uneven when you don't straithen it first.

She has chosen to post this in a public forum(RU-vid) and therefore has opened herself up for discussion; either that be people agreeing with her decision or telling her that her natural hair is beautiful. not only do people who dont have curly hair have no idea how much time effort and energy it takes but also the effect it can have on HOW you feel about yourself! i dont feel good spending lots of time trying to make myself look good, it makes me feel rubbish and also when i don't have the energy to do and my hair isn't looking its best i feel not great! i'm all for this!!
I've tried this method in Japan = it was superb. I do know that my hair is wavy/curly but I did tried the methods for curly hair = much more frizz and overal worse quality/look of my hair plus I do look horrible and much older with it as well. So.. I would rather have a bit of frizz and straight hair than "ugly, soon to be oily/dry mess making me look significantly older" look 😆
Hair looked better before in my opinion. I feel sad when I hear girls talk about their beautiful wavy hair like it’s unkempt and unattractive. And then try to kill it with chemicals.
Why are people not allowed to like straight hair?? Every single time a person with straight hair exists they're told they should curl their hair, and when someone straightens they're told it looked better before. All hair types are beautiful and people should be free to choose what they want, even if it means paying for treatments. If it makes her happy, who cares?
@@_.-._.-. well that’s what I mean - all hair types are beautiful. But the way she speaks about her wavy/curly hair sounded like it’s something negative and unattractive. I don’t care if she prefers to straighten her hair, my main objection is the way she spoke about her wavy hair.
This is exactly what Black women go through on a regular basis. It’s interesting to hear a white girl saying the same things we say at hair appts. I just wish there were the same level of interest and positive vibes given to us…
This girl has followers already because she got married to a kpop idol, also her editing is good, idk, i don’t really care about this girls videos or content, who cares?

Her hair is pretty thick. She has fine hair, but a lot of it. I wouldn’t say it’s super thick, but to her, it is. Why are y’all so bitter? What happened to women supporting women? This was an embarrassing comment to make, Amanda. If your irl friends saw this, oof. I hope they all know how fake you are.
I’d say it’s fairly thick. Thick just refers to the amount of hair on her head, she may have finer hairs so it looks thinner. But it’s definitely fairly thick.
I'm trying to get my wavy hair to get curly-er, not straight. This treatment is really good for those who want to loose their curls cuz maintaining curls is expensive and time consuming. I wash my hair every 5-6 days, and it takes 2-3 hours to style it.
@@sc3neboi647 I'm just saying, we've come to think of "relaxer" as something negative, criticizing it for how damaging it is, but call it a "Korean perm" or "Japanese treatment" and suddenly, it's magical and wonderful. Let's call it what it is, relaxer. 🤷
