Thanks for this video! This is the best video I have seen on small gas engine servicing! You explain everything very well. I do have to disagree with you about the Poulan brand. I have this blower and a chainsaw for years and it has served me well, I would not hesitate to buy a new one.

thank you so much for your videos. I am subscriber and a fan of yours. I have fixed 2 of my equipment already this season. the first one was a mower that has a clogged jet. and the second one is the same Poulan pro you have. I have got it from my favorite used online store. but the owner said It was super hard to start. so I watched your videos and I replaced the metering diaphragm for only 10$cad! and it works like new! I would never be able fix it without your videos.😃

I recently picked up one of these off of Facebook marketplace for free because it had a no run issue. As of yesterday I have had to replace the crank bearings because one of the balls decided it was going to ricochet out of the sleeve, luckily no damage was done. I have decided to replace the cylinder and the Piston and fuel lines as well Because compression was low. Mine is a 2013 model that came with all attachments. Getting to recoil assembly is a pain in the butt for this leaf blower. But it can be taken apart very easily. Overall I have spend $25.00 for Piston $24.99 for cylinder. $7.00 for 2 bearings $7.50 for fuel lines and primer bulb kit. Overall I think this repair was worth it instead of sending another small engine to the landfill even though newer blowers cost about the same as what I have spent. Your knowledge and expertise has given me the courage to diagnose and take apart small engines. Love your videos and look forward to more in the near future!!

My Poulan Wood Shark 1950 is 23 years old. Now its no logging saw but it has done all I've asked for over 2 decades. I always drain the fuel and purge the fuel from the bulb and drain again. I also leave the cap off for a few days to dry everything out. I would and have bought again.

I’ve actually binge watched most of your videos. I came across a Poulan Weed Eater SB30 similar to the old craftsman 32cc units from 2000. Followed your steps and got it running again. Digging out the mud dauber nest from the muffler was a pain, but thankfully the muffler was a 2 piece unit and made for cleaning much easier. $5 for the machine and $35 in parts brought it back to working order again. Thanks again for filming these videos!

Good video!! I have no use for a leaf blower here. I have one that I cannibalised for the engine which now has a car alternator fitted to it. Once I install new fuel lines & carby, it will serve as a portable 12vdc power generator for my portable Ham Radio set up, or a mobile battery charger.

We just purchased an electric blower/ vac because we don't have a big yard and we didn't want the complications of another gas engine to worry about loved hearing your opinion on the brand as well pretty sure I would be in the same opinion as you where I would spend a little more but would have something that may be more reliable especially where it would sit for a while

I have this same blower. We were poor then. Used it all the time and even blowing snow for 9 years. No issues all those years. Last winter pull rope broke and I didn’t have time to tear it all apart for that job. It’s kinda a pain and time consuming so bought a BG86. Eventually fixed the pull rope and now it lives in my shed for backyard work. Stihl is much better but these are reliable.

Nice work on that blower, Poulan is a cheap brand but seems to be a decent blower and serves it's purpose well, keep up the great work! I actually have 2 blowers, a Stihl BR600 backpack blower that I got a few years ago from a landscaping company for a great deal because it needed a little work which I just resealed the engine on, it has their 4 mix engine and runs like brand new now. And I have a Stihl BG65 handheld blower which was given to me.

Poulan has always filled the notch for people on budgets or just starting out with yard tools. There is nothing wrong with them other than that affordability image. That bothers some people for some reason. I admittedly have moved on to Husqvarna, Milwaukee and Toro for my yard war tools over the years.

Looking at one today, guy says it needs carb work. I will check compression first before buying for $25. the last one I tried fixing had worn out rings, would start but not run. Compression is a huge factor in blowers. The hang and drop method works in the field. If you can hang the blower by the pull rope and it doesn't drop, compression is good. If it slowly drops or quickly drops ,run away.
@HomeGaragechannel
@HomeGaragechannel 2 года назад
good luck, hopefully the compression is good.

These Poulan's along with some of the other "cheaper" brands built 10+ years ago were pretty good. You can see this has a genuine Walbro carburetor on it, any of the new ones just have generic Chinese Walbro clones. I always rebuild the Walbro, and Zama, carbs on the old units as they nearly always work perfectly again.

Long term storage - know what is wrong with it right now, bad fuel, filter, fuel lines, carb etc. I leave my blower on half choke, high speed, for a few minutes before flipping it back to idle. If I go into a carb it gets a new diaphragm set in it and cleaned. I replace the screen as part of the rebuild. I also check the height on the lifter lever with my Walbro W or Zama Z gage to see if it is at the same height. The rest I do exactly as you did it. I use Tygon line, too. I like my Husqvarna 25B blower. I have owned two of them. Gave my older one to my older daughter. Gave my younger daughter a 55B Stihl blower. Both are fine hand held blowers.

You are better off storing it with fuel in the tank and in the fuel system to avoid any seals or gaskets drying out. Just use Stabil and ensure you don't leave fuel in the tank for more than 12 months. Power equipment should be started ever 6 months to keep it from "getting away from ya"

Gas oil mix units should NEVER be run dry, this leans out the engine and causes wear on the cylinder and rings. Using a stabilizer in the fuel before storing is acceptable. You can never extract residual fuel and it will end up as goo.
