Mexico City has an amazing public transit system! From double-decker buses to trains, bikes, and even cable cars! We were warned that public transit in Mexico City was dangerous and crowded, but after a month of using it, I wonder if the people giving those warnings have even used it in the last few years? There have been a lot of improvements from a new cable cars/gondola system, electric trolleys on elevated platforms, and even new double-decker buses. Mexico City has better public transit than we have seen anywhere in the US or Canada.
We had a lot of trouble figuring out all of the different ways to get around so we decided to make this video to help you begin your trip with more knowledge than we had! Plus we are big supporters of using public transportation. Mexico City has too many cars! Taking public transportation ensures you don't add to the traffic and pollution that Mexico City struggles with.

I have lived in Mexico City all my life, but since I started high school I have had to take public transportation (metro, cablebus, trolleybus, metrobus...) And you don't know how happy I am that people from outside the country are interested in our public transport, it touched my heart and thank you very much for making the video. 🇲🇽❤️

I came to mexico when I was only 3 years old From venezuela to Mexico I now live a very happy life and the closest line to my house is the 12 line very good line with a lot of TV and it announces station have relaxing music open gangway and new modern doors When they announce station ''Proxima estacion Calle 11 prepare su descenso apertura de puertas lado derecho'' it also displays on. The Tv's and it haves a light outside that illuminates when the doors open Also. On all lines except for the line 6 have a special model that is rainbow We all mostly call it CDMX because it displays CDMX outside and also it has neumatic lines except for A and 12 Those lines are only metallic wheels. Neumatic linrs are only on Chile and paris (everything I know) and that's my life here Also they have a earthquake alarm The most recent one was a 5.7 one (7 of December 2023) Scary. But good.

Great video! Just spent a week in MXCD and your tips were invaluable. We found the public transportation easy, fast, and clean. A little crowded at times, but no different than any other city. The bicycle system is amazing, we rode 160km over the week, including a Day of the Dead night ride that was a complete blast! Easily the most surprising city I’ve ever visited, great people, food, and culture. Great tip on the cable bus, definitely something to see.

@solorock28

I am so grateful for this video! On a whim, I bought a ticket to Mexico City from Van. I will be there in July for 2 weeks. I thought my city had good transit, but I just got schooled. I’m a solo traveler, and loved learning about the pink seat buses. I noticed some of the words were also in English, so while I am a bit scared of going, I know I can do it😊

fun fact: Mexico city uses symbols displayed at stations or signs and the symbols are there to represent different forms of transportation and stops. the reason is that illiteracy was taken into consideration. you don't need to know how to read in order to get around. and since Mexico has 68 national languages including 63 indigenous, not everyone can speak Spanish or read.

Saludos.

@ShouldWeLiveHere
@ShouldWeLiveHere Год назад
You only need one Metro card that you can use for everything. Create an ECOBICI account online or on your phone, and then you can link your metro card to it. The metro card has a number on the back that you enter. You then use your metro card at any bike station. A couple times the card didn’t work- I think it may have been because the bike was charging. We just went to the next bike in the rack and it would work.

Local Mexico City citizen here, a few advices if you use the public transport, -metrobus lines 1,2 and 3 can also be paid with any nfc car or digital wallet -if your arrived at terminal 2, do not try to calling any kind of taxi that is not the ones from the airport, for some the reason it's not allowed there -DO NOT USE microbuses, combis and the purple buses, there unrealiable, the drivers drive in a dangerous way and it's quotes are extremely inconsistent -And there is also a "mini metro" line at the south, it starts at the south terminal of line 2

@@mathbyleoHi, the Metro card will allow you to take the MetroBus and the metro subway system. You just get the card and refill it as needed. So you can’t really get just a weekly unlimited card. And you can’t transfer for free from the metro bus to the metro subway. Thanks again for watching! Hope you enjoy a trip to Mexico City….

I don't believe what you said, you really don't know what you are talking about, I can see that it was your first time in Mexico city using all their beautiful ways to transport, also you have to stop talking all the time about "danger". You know that is much more dangerous in many US cities.

What part don’t you believe? My goal was to help other people try to get around Mexico City without a car? Public Transit in Mexico City was far better than expected.
