I feel like since I started painting, my ability to draw has been affected. Because when you paint the main aspect of the painting is the way you apply the paint. I tend to rush through the drawing part knowing it will be covered by paint. I recently started planning out my painting, sketching it in my sketch book and I found it has helped with the final sketch which in turn improves the final product.

Smart move, the under drawing is the scaffolding that will hold everything you put on top of it! Take your time on it, a solid drawing will make the painting process even more enjoyable :)

I have been drawing nothing but heads for like 2 weeks every day when I get off work, trying to get better. It definitely takes practice like anything else. Loved this, I just moved to the UK as an exchange student and started a fine art course which I never had the possibility to do back in Italy and we will be doing a fair bit of charcoal and graphite drawings so this was quite inspiring to watch!

Thanks for the tips! As an artist, I struggle with the idea of perfection. It holds me back from having fun in my art and stops me from doing figure drawings or just doing warm ups. I had this mindset that I could only create masterpieces, even in my sketchbooks. I've definitely been afraid to fail. I'm trying to get better. Your videos are very helpful along with Kesh's. I love how you not only work on your creations but you also help others with theirs. That's very kind of you and I am very grateful that channels like yours exist. Thanks again!

Loved the video. I think you have a great approach to drawing. If everything is too precious, that approach can really hold you back. I heard one instructor refer to pencil and brush mileage that you just have to put in.

Great stuff. Really nice to see an artist practice and struggle with some proportions. Which is good. It's indeed all about getting better, learning from your mistakes. Which is why I should practice more as well... but I'm really happy if I can find an hour of practice time once every two weeks or so. So my figure drawing skills are still pretty horrible, and I don't expect that to change anytime soon... just too damn busy with other stuff all the time.

Love the toned paper too, get so frustrated that my little town doesn't have a proper art store that sells supplies! cant even find a dang chalk pencil anywhere... ha! anyway loved the vid, been trying to get back into drawing but like I said been struggling for supplies. just pencils over here. envy your charcoal ;) love it! love it, bravo!
