I pick up a rare Giulia GTA from Alfa Romeo and head to the mountains for a proper Italian coffee!
About the Giulia GTA (from Alfa Romeo):
- Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and Giulia GTAm make their dynamic debut at the Balocco Proving Ground, Italy, where Autodelta developed the legendary 1965 Giulia GTA
- The Giulia GTA is powered by the Alfa Romeo 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo engine, upgraded to 540hp, with a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 187hp per litre
- Extensive use of ultra-light materials means it accelerates from zero to 62mph in just 3.6 seconds

The QV is the only car that I've owned that wows me more in 3 years than year one. I own two 997.2 GT3s and would give them up before my Alfa. Until you own one it's impossible to understand it. Joy. That's the best descriptor.

Great video as always. I’ve watched this channel since I saw a video about an Alfa 4C being reversed into by a van driver, you’ve come a long way since then. I had the privilege of meeting Sam at the Goodwood Revival a few weeks ago and all I can say is Sam is so down to earth and that the personality that you see on screen is mirrored in real life. I still can’t believe the channel doesn’t have 1 million subscribers. All I can say is Sam, keep up the excellent work!

As a Giulia Veloce owner (3 years from new), wonderful to see that dashboard pov I recognise so much, but the soundtrack is another level. As a daily the Veloce is perfect mix of sensible and fun and you have that perfect balance. I'd go to a QF but cannot justify the extra £100k, except from the collectors perspective of a limited run.

gotta agree with that. just the fact that you can spend around 25k on a standard Guilia QF, suspension coilovers, carbon bits, exhaust, tune and some fancy brakepads.. and have the same fun (i think) and keep 75k in your pocket.

Not to brag but I have one and daily it in Texas. It's thirsty, temperamental, delicate, and my hands down favorite car I've ever owned. Yes it's annoying that I have to slow to a crawl at many intersections to avoid bottoming out, it may or may not have eaten a fuel injector at 2000 miles on the clock, and the tires disintegrate if it's below 50ºF, but somehow the faults are charming. Jeremy Clarkson has always said that a car has to have human flaws to be loved, and I get it now. I desperately hope it doesn't take Alfa Romeo another 20 years to make another super sedan. I've driven BMW's for years. I'm not sure I can ever go back. p.s. the tire thing is not a joke. Pirelli themselves say on their website to never expose the tires to subfreezing weather. I lost both rear tires as a result of not having power for a week during the 2021 icepocalypse here. Spent more on replacing the tires than I did on fixing my pipes.

Great Video! Making me miss Italy too! I learned how to drive in an old Alfetta 1.8 and my first car was a GTV (we're talking back in the 80's here), so I've always had a love for Alfas. An acquaintance is thinking about selling his 4C Launch Edition, and after watching this video, I'm thinking about rekindling my Alfa relationship! The GTA appears to be an AWESOME car - and one we won't get here in the States. But based on the price in the UK, it seems it would have been north of $200k, had we gotten it here. As much as I love Alfas, that would just be too much for me. There are too many other great cars available at that price point. But what a stunner it is, and what a soundtrack! All captures in the typical awesome Sam style!

Still not the same car. M cars look so good because of their wide arches. Well gta and gtam do the same. Plus exterior touches. So it’s not only about power is it? Theoretically you could improve any car engine performance, but that’s not everything.

"Is it worth paying the extra?" Yes, it is. When it comes to Alfa Romeo, you buy an experience. I have an Alfa Romeo GT from 2006 with the 2.0 JTS engine, red (Alfa Rosso 130 B/B) with the lion yellow leather interior. I actually got it for free as a graduation gift in 2017 from my parents as it's my dream car and have been since 2007 when I fell in love with it at a car fair. I remember 10 year old me, behind the wheel at that fair, saying, "I will have this in the future". But I could actually have had paid for it, no problem. It's a feeling to sit behind the wheel of an Alfa Romeo. You don't buy one because you want a practical car, you buy one for the passion of it and the smile on your face. And I would more than likely pay that extra for a GTA. GTAm is overkill and only have two seats. So the GTAm is a no for me. We have similar roads here in Sweden, but it's in the Swedish forest instead of a mountain top. Cheers from Sweden!

There are so many tuning mods available for the standard Quadrifoglio that it’s hard to believe the sum total of the upgrades total an extra £80k! Carbon wide body kit will be available soon, and easy ‘stage 1’ map to 600bhp+ for the standard cars. It’s purely the ‘limited edition’ premium that you’re paying for here and that’s sad because most of the 500 will not be used for the purposes they were intended. Keep up the great work. Nice blend of PTC and montages. I’m trying to live up to your high standards on my own channel @BackRoadHero. Ps my own QV is available any time you wish if you want to compare it with the F-type R. To answer your question, I would take the GTA. The price is hard to swallow as it is. Shelling out anymore for the M just wouldn’t be worth it imo. The M is geared for track use like you said so driving the more road oriented GTA is just a better fit.

Included in that price is, a bespoke helmet, race suit, a day out at the Alfa Romeo driving academy and customers have a retail assistant taking them through the entire purchase process, so that goes some way to justify the price. I would go for the GTAm to an greater extent still, make my money’s worth, but still, what a car. The Giulia QV remains my dream car and please, everyone who’s looking at an M3, C63, AT LEAST check the QV out. It’s unusual, but that makes it so cool, plus it’s so beautiful you go everywhere feeling like the biggest winner! They deserve MORE ATTENTION!

Try a comparison with a 156 GTA, especially for those below who'd see driving one of these QF GTAs around Italy as nothing more than a dream. The 156 GTA is a flawed gem, bags of character, stunning engine and beautiful sound...and affordable!

The Italians really do build the greatest cars in the world, driving a 360 Modena from Milan down to Naples was spectacular, I had to drive through Modena also. Every chance the Italian locals got they would spur me on to floor the 360, even the police in Italy give you thumbs up. There really is no place like Italy.

My brother-in-law is in the cars business and had to once pickup a second-hand Ferrari in the south and drive it up to Belgium (bad for the back 🙂!). He was stopped by Carabinieri. He thought "Damn, speeding ticket 😏" Turned out they wanted selfies with the car 🤣 When he took off again they gesticulated "common, floor it!"
