Phil really hit the nail on the head at the end of the video talking about the misconception that introverts are all shy or that we can't be friendly in social situations. The *only* thing that makes someone an introvert is that we recharge by being alone and thus need to rest after social interaction, while extroverts recharge by being in social situations and feel drained if they're alone for too long. Introverts can be friendly and outgoing. Extroverts can be shy and socially anxious.

Honestly!! Also I hate the idea that being introverted means you have to 'come out of your shell'. Sure, I have anxiety around socialising (which is also based in other issues) but I love my friends so much, I just am fine with being alone to recover and do my own thing. I just hate that anxiety around people and being introverted get seen as THE EXACT SAME THING. I hate introverts being seen as losers who have no friends and need to just open up more.

I agree so much with Phil about the off-handness of people thinking that you're SHY?? i went to a party once, i danced, i cracked jokes but maybe i didn't engage much in conversation because i was feeling a little bit off thanks to too much beer and a little bit of dissociation but i tried my best! and at the end of the night this friend of a friend just goes to me and tells me he thinks I'm too shy, I'd never felt more insulted or misunderstood bc i tried sooo hard that night to be nice to everyone and that just ruined my entire night and i just went home immediately after :(

Forgive me, but your friendship is so amazing. I love the supportive atmosphere you have with each other and how you stand up for each other. I think it is something we should all aspire to: to be so honest and supportive with the people in our lives. I have social anxiety so I don't have "friends" other than the acquaintances I work with; but, when I watch your videos, it makes me hopeful that maybe I can have a friendship like yours one day.

this was SO FUN and is totally going on the comfort video playlist but also i'm gonna be honest i'm pleasantly surprised at how genuine you both were in this?? it's so cool to see you be real people (if that makes sense! i know you're obviously real but in the sense that before there was a pretty fixed set of topics and anecdotes that were approved and everything outside of that was seen as taboo to ask) like phil talking about people's perception of him and his personality is FASCINATING to hear!! thanks for sharing a bit more about who you are with us (while also being very entertaining)

phil's red flags are so niche but SO RIGHT! they may not seem that important initially but are actually pretty good indicators of what kind of person somebody might be. i'll definitely keep an eye out for whether i'm asked enough questions about myself - and also whether i'm asking enough questions to people when i talk to them!

when i was probably like 16 dan tweeted “don’t trust people who tell other peoples secrets” and i genuinely found that so profound and eye opening and it genuinely made me reevaluate the way conversation is perceived and cut off a lot of toxic ‘friends’ and i am grateful still got extremely traumatized in hs anyway but not from that thanks dip and pip for the life advice
