I am making a 1790's round gown in linen and I can never iron it to perfection. So I decided that some wrinkles would just have to be part of wearing it. And I am sure that would be true in the 1790's as well.
@bustedkeaton

Its harder if you dont have a servant iron it for you lol

Linen just creases the second you look at it... I do iron my linen kirtle after washing it, but any subsequent creases it gathers as I wear it are just part of nature and to be accepted as they are. I don't have time to iron all that fabric every day!

Starch or a steamer would help.

Suggestion: Maybe you could create a "comparison" between the styles through the ages ... giving your own (obviously subjective) evaluation as to: - comfort - ease of dressing - ease of cleaning - how complicated to create - variability (through "accessories" ... some styles probably have more options than others in shawls, jackets, ...) - ... Not many people have the chance of wearing this amount of different styles.
@priorattire

that is exactly what my videos do?

@@priorattire I think maybe they meant addressing comfort, or ease of dressing within one video maybe? Like, of all the eras you regularly dress in, which is the most comfortable? Which is the quickest/easiest to get dressed? I know you’ve addressed some of these questions for the Victorian era specifically already though.

I simply adore that gown! Recently after watching a video from Bernadette banner I made my first late 18th century shift at 61 years old! I want you to know how marvelous the journey has been and had it not been for wonderful inspirational content like this I never would have made that journey! Keep up the good work!

This one was interesting; once you'd got the open robe on, the first thing that came to mind was the 1995 adaptation of Sense and Sensibility; you see multiple characters wearing them, in different colours/fabrics, and also (in what I think is a nice touch) over different day gowns. I could almost imagine it being their equivalent of wearing a fitted jacket/blazer over modern clothes; it just adds a smarter edge to the look, somehow.

Patterns of Fashion 5 ends with the 1790s stays, actually, it doesn't go into the 19th century. :-) But as I was watching you put those on, I kept thinking "are those the 1790s stays from Patterns of Fashion 5?" I want to make them one day - I love 1790s styles, too, though I like Regency in general except for the extra floofy late styles - so it's really nice to see them in action! :-)
