This video shows our quick, but very enjoyable time exploring Armenia.
We spent a few days staying by peaceful Lake Sevan, enjoying the mini beach and trying traditional Armenia food!
We also had to see Armenia's capital whilst we were here.
Yerevan is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, dating way back to 782 BC. It is also Armenia's largest city, and is full of both modern and ex-soviet influenced architecture.
Before we ventured into the city, we visited the Armenia Genocide Memorial and Museum. The museum provides a very thorough history of the suffering of the Armenian people, and it is truly a humbling and eye opening to learn about a part of history less talked about. We definitely recommend spending at least a couple of hours there to take it all in.
From the museum we headed straight into the main city. We wandered around Yerevan's busy Northern Avenue, to the Republic Square and took a sip from the famous seven springs Pulpulak! We then headed through Vernissage market (again hunting for a magnet!) before looping back up to the Cascade.
Massively overestimating our fitness levels (and how many stairs are in the Cascade), we decided to race to the top! This was a terrible mistake and we paid dearly for it! However 750 stairs later and we were at the top. Unfortunately it was too hazy to catch a glimpse of the famed Mt Ararat, but the climb was worth it for a final view of Yerevan.
