You're a bit stuck when you get to Keflavik Airport and you need to head downtown. There is a regional bus service, but at the moment (2021), it's not the best option as it hasn't been running.
So you're left with the Flybus service, Gray Line (which you need to book ahead) or a taxi.
Which is best? How much does it cost? How many of you are there? Will they be nice to deal with?

Hi! They do have a schedule but there’s usually always one waiting outside and you can get right on board.

Question, did you take a taxi while there? How did you hear about the more then the $150-$180, up to$250? I will be going with 3 others including elderly so trying to figure out easiest but actual budget for this.

Absolutely dreadful but I have had similar experiences in Iceland during the nine years I lived there. I hope you complained. Icelandic companies are very sensitive about their reputation abroad and every traveler should always report any rudeness from their employees. If they are aware that you are broadcasting it on YT, they will be super responsive. I have to say though that the staff in the hotels have always been friendly and polite.

Consider either of the main bus companies. You should know that they will organise pick-up but only from set locations, so check if your hotel is close to one of those. Flybus has a pretty wide connection via the main bus terminal, if you're staying at a city centre hotel or Airbnb.
