I Agree 100% !!!! I ride normal bike every day and it’s really comes down to respect for others. In golden gate park people on electric bikes ride like idiots super fast and you can’t hear them really so it’s not safe to ride fast up onto people on a regular bike .

Yeah ill slow down but Karen's shouldn't be writing laws in the first place. If a pedestrian gets hit, they can sue and whoever is there can rightfully kick the riders ass. Im pretty sure that's common law.

@@absolute757 From what I have seen these guys are very respectful. Being on a pedestrian trail you should have a spotter in the front at all times. A small child could get killed if they run out in front of the bike. Hit the wrong man's family and you could end up losing yours.

I sold my big dirt bike because I needed so much space to have any fun and got a little yamaha 125 big wheel and just made a couple of pit bike tracks on my own land. Then I paid 3x as much for an E-MTB so I could peddle my heavy ass all over the hike/bike trails.

Same here in the UK, it's all the rich boomers, they've bought up all the property so nobody younger can afford shit because we pay their mortgages for them, getting by is a struggle like it's never been, so you try to get out in nature to have fun with your hobbies, you're respectful, safe, courteous and these same people abuse and harass everyone out of public spaces using the state that's made them so privileged as their weapon, because "MINE MINE MINE" Not all but a lot of, selfish, entitled af people from that generation who stole their kids futures and now want their kids out of their recreational areas. Perhaps the very sight of younger generations reminds them deep down of how rich they got cannibalising the financial futures of subsequent generations. I can't even kayak down river without some boomer fisherman screaming totally unnecessary, disproportionate abuse at me because it's 'his river'. I wish I had skin thick enough to not GAF but it causes me more stress than it's worth these days, so my hobbies are now largely confined to staying in and keeping tf away from society, and they wonder why there's a suicide epidemic in younger people, no in fact THEY don't, they just say we're weak, 'because iphones & netflix, oh and don't forget dem damned immigants'. @@xafbxmoto269 You made? Trails through public lands should be planned by people who understand the environment not kids who parents could afford dirt bikes. I don't mean any offence but did you consider erosion when you cut them at whatever age you were? When I was young we (with permission cut horse trails through park land/wild woodland. About a decade later the neighborhood grew up and kids with dirt bikes found the trails and started riding them even though they weren't supposed to. I didn't care I liked bikes but then a few years latter the hills started becoming impassable due to erosion following the bike tracks. Horses don't make canals that allow water to flow unimpeded they make round holes that catch water. This is why many woodlands have banned wheeled vehicles.

@@ghz24 For one horses are more expensive then dirt bikes. For two,who did you ask permission from? Dirtbike riders have been working with forestry for years way before Mtb were invented. That was my point. As for the erosion I'm pretty sure housing developments and paving over beautiful mountains and valleys is worse then dirtbike trails through the woods.

@@xafbxmoto269 We got permission from the county park and pleasure district that owns the land. I was young so not sure if it was specifically granted or just checked for allowed use. Likely the latter because the parents bought the land nearby partly due to the park land being an 1/8th mile down the way. Nice perk if you want people to board their horses at your stables. Lots of the trails farther away were on private land that they had to hunt down the owner to ask permission, mostly farmers who farmed the flat bottom land but owned the surrounding wooded hills as well. I do get your point cutting and maintaining trails is work. Over development is bad but dirt bikes can reach and damage areas that won't be developed anytime soon if ever. I do think there should be areas designated and developed for dirt bikes. If they have nowhere to legitimately ride they will go everywhere/anywhere to ride. I don't see why mtn bikes and dirt bikes can't use the same trails and I can understand why both might not appreciate horses using them. I don't understand the rub between the two kinds of bikes. Maybe drawing unwanted attention. I don't see why these bikes would be banned from the first paved trails they were on, providing they mostly keep to speed limits and don't interfere with it's intended use. I really hope inconsiderate people don't ruin e-bikes being allowed on parkland bicycle trails, the behavior of these riders is a threat to continued access for people who aren't interested in how fast or crazy they can ride.

So true. Even with random people I have been stopped many time by kids that seemed genuinely interested in the bike but then they start asking sketchy questions and I’ve felt threatened many times as if I was about to be jumped and it was gonna get stolen.

Cannot stress this enough. I usually like talking with everyone and chatting. But I now just ignore people And keep rolling. Too many sketchy incidents where I don’t trust anyone anymore.

Besides that as a suron owner and owner of zero Electric dirt bikes I ride only in OHV designated areas. I don't understand why these guys ride dirt bikes on the pavement all the time when they're designed for off-road use and it's illegal to use on streets.

These bikes.may be illegal due to busting out the.speed limit for a class 2 bike.

When you remove the limiter like these guys clearly did, they become motor vehicles which would place all the restrictions that a motorcycle has (pedals or not)

Aslong as the don't collide with an innocent child and kill them they won't have a problem. If they go as fast as a car they should pay registration and insurance and have plates to identify themselves. I remeber the time I went on a roller coaster after a meal and 8 beers, I vomited all over some e-biker in front of me and made a poo in my pants but they were okay about it. Most e- bikers are cool.

@@10aDowningStreet I've found in my experience that walkers/hikers are the worst offenders when it comes to trail etiquette. I'll run into them on obvious dedicated bike trails, walking 4,5,6 abreast blocking the trail. Even on the coastal bike trails (The Strand), they choose to walk in the bike lanes rather than the pedestrian lanes provided to them. They'll walk right across you without looking and then freak out when you ring your bell or call out your intention to pass...in the bike lane. The point is that even walkers aren't innocent. All we can be is considerate out on the trails.

Class 2 ebikes are restricted to 20 mph. pedals or not.

There are mtb guys that do build off-trail single tracks, and they get established.. But yeah then they think they own them afterwards. Some of these same guys bike on muddy wet trails and destroy them. Horses will and can destroy the shit out a wet trail too. That guy was a whiny poosie though.. Out of touch dork. Trails are meant to be enjoyed and shared. Ebikes make little to no impact on a trail. They are the future; and they are a ton of fun.

72v is pushing up to 13,000, but you can set different modes with limited output to put it at 750w. Each state has different laws and some only restrict the speed. But majority require pedals to be functional, and that's when you get the kaniwaba pedal kit that can actually move the bike

I'm not saying they weren't within their rights, but you just don't play with fire like this and not expect to get stopped. They did not sound prepared at all to speak to the police. They knew their rights, and yet they second guessed themselves. As funny as the edits are, they don't change the fact that if you can't prove yourself legally, the cops can easily bust you for crimes you didn't even commit. This is why the 5th amendment is a thing. Sometimes it's better to just STAY QUIET. That being said, they seemed legitimately concerned and confused. Yeah i was really wondering how the heck these pass as 750w when the product page says 3kw/6kw peak stock. You wouldn't see performance anywhere near what they're showing on a lightweight road bike putting 750w through the crank. And that's without a metal frame, batteries, motor etc

About a year after getting my license I was in traffic going about 55 and some guy on a motorcycle decided to pop a wheelie in front of the car in front of me. Well he fucked it fell off up got ran over by the car in front of me while I swerve and clip his bike. So while this time, no one got hurt and everything was fine. Doing reckless things on the road at speed is a good way to kill yourself and injure other people.

The only problem i have with Horses are the Shit Piles on the Forest Trails. But it's also a Slalom event. Only hit the old and dry ones and you're good.

As long as there stock and you don't cut the wire to make them faster most states will let you ride them on the road

Some states like montana let you apply for a vin number which you could then use to register them. Some people did that with those motorized bike kits.

In CO, you change the VIN to 17 digits, add a mirror and a brake light, stop by State Patrol, and you get registered with a plate. You DO need a motorcycle endorsement on your license. Then, if you also want to ride off-road, you get a cheap annual OHV permit. Between the two, you can go anywhere. Did exactly all that on my 5-yo Beta RR390.
