We are now on day 14 of my journey to a 2000 rapid rating online on chess.com! Yep, we're actually playing chess EVERY day until I hit 2000... do I get the job done with the Queen's Gambit declined?
About me: I'm Farzy, a Chess.com partnered streamer and freestyle rapper who is on a quest to get better at chess! I've been streaming chess on Twitch for about a year, and have started to play over-the-board classical chess tournaments in the summer of 2024. I hope to grow as a player both online and OTB, and I hope my viewers can join me for the ride :)

Very nice game !! I like your time usage in the most part in these games ! If you are not willing to spend your time, you should play a rapid game 😂 just pmay blitz or bullet. I think above 1800 most people tend to spend their time more in rapid ! Tarash is interesting, I'm not too booked up there, for sure a great line against the queen's gambit ! Move 5, well analysed. When they don't defend their center with pawns you should always consider captures ! Here it allows you to develop with tempo OR to gain space in the center with tempo, which is insanely good ! Move 6 again cxd4 is interesting as their center is not defended by a pawn Also dxc4 is interesting in these catalan setup (d4 c4 and Bg2) because the c4 pawn is kind of free, they have to spend time to get it back or sometimes you can even hold on to it. But it opens their light square bishop and allow them some counter play too. This is never easy but interesting ! Move 10 I would take with the pawn. Taking with knight is fine too apparently. I like having pawns to control the center. Also you allow e5 with tempo after taking with the knight. Yes it's an IQP so if you are not comfortable with it, it makes sense to avoid it. But in most QGD, the idea is to take back with the e pawn, opening up for your light square bishop ! Move 16 : tricky situation here, with your c pawn pinned to your bishop. Not easy to realise but these pawns are super weak, white already has pressure on them, and is very quick with the rooks coming in ! Engine says Bd7 but always recommands Kd7 after, not castling. And that's because you don't want to let white rook infiltrate your 7th rank. King prevents infiltration and he can defend your weak pawns too by going to c7, and unpinning your c pawn by defending your bishop ! That's not easy, but to consider this you need to realise the danger before playing that move, which you clearly did not. I agree everything seemed to be defended but white was quick with making threats ! On move 19, Bxc6 (what they played) wins a pawn for white BUT if they play Rc1, you are completely paralised : Rc8 tied down to defend Bc7 which is pinned to your Bb7, c6 pawn also pinned. White can just improve and surely win both your b and c pawns here ! So Bxc6 (their move) give you the best version of being down 1 pawn but at least you can move your pieces again ! Move 21. I like Rd8 a lot more than taking on e5. Allowing both rooks in the 7th rank is usually very bad, here you have ways to survive but you need to find some very precise moves, which is never easy. I would prefer to not allow this. Move 23, white does not have easy ways to make progress, that's why here you can play c5 saving your pawn, Bd4 improving your bishop, protecting your pawn, g6 make a luft. All of this before going crazy ! It's equal material but his rooks are way more active, but as he can't do anything yet you should use that time to consolidate ! Move 29: I'm fine with you taking with the rook, the reason it's not good is because here you have absolutely NO good discoveries 😂. So bishop takes comes with tempo (check) and not rook takes (no threat). And then he blundered ! Very nice win ! Not the best game but def some lessons to keep in mind ! - Center control with pawns - Realising the danger (pins, weakenesses, active play by opponent) - Limit their active play (rook infiltration) - Improve slowly when you have time (no threat by the opponent) Let's keep the grind going !!

Can we just call you "coach"?

@@williamblake7386 ahahah please no ! 😂😂 I'm only a slightly stronger than Farzy with 2000 elo peak. I also learn a lot doing these analysis and I enjoy it. I rarely (to not say never) analyse this much my own games.

@@maximepoca9396 So i was right. A guy who analyses others but not himself is a coach. Impressive anyway. Btw, considering your approach to the game you might be able to make Farzy(and others, god knows how many students do you have) gameplay less boring.

There is one guy in the 2k community, Patrick. He's a legend. And all his games ends on increment. No idea how. 8 minutes, on the other hand, i perfectly understand.

70 mmr in 13 days? 1 day=1 game, right? Any plans to play more often like 2 games a day? I mean just to speed up the learning curve. Also, are you going to play on camera only or off camera is also possible? Anyway, this 1500 peasant almost ouplayed you until the endgame where his brain was unable to recognize any threats whatsoever 😛
