No. Like everyone who has died, he remains in his grave, unconscious waiting for a resurrection (John 5:28 - 29). He will eventually live eternally (if deemed good enough), without sin, in the new heavens and new earth, which is the entire theme of the Bible - to bring life back to the Garden of Eden conditions but on a worldwide scale. - (Isaiah 65:17, 2nd Peter 3:13, Revelation 21:1 - 5). "No one has ever gone to Heaven." - Jesus (John 3:13)

A true mensch. I heard a story about him at the Oscars. He was walked to his seat by an usher and he chatted up the guy as they went. At the end of the walk, Candy said, “Thank you.” I know that’s simple. Built according to that usher, no one else he walked over said a word to him or thanked him. John was a treasure and he never got the recognition for his talent he richly deserved.

I shook his hand at Exhibition Stadium, Toronto Ontario Canada as a child. My family was at an Argos home game. Attendance was light and as a kid I was walking around. He was a step down at field level, back towards me. I spoke loudly "Mr. Candy, Mr. Candy, he turned and stepped towards the wall. I reached over and offered my hand as I introduced myself. We shook and I'll never forget how big of a hand he had. My child hand disappeared into his fist o' sausage fingers. he was partial owner of the Toronto Argos at the time. He said "Hey kid nice to meet you. Enjoy the game it's going to be a good one." And that's my John Candy story..

I got his autograph when he was walking really fast after accepting an award at Harvard. He wasn't signing anything; he was just moving really fast through the hall to get to the door and then his waiting limo. I ran ahead of him and his people and said "please sign this -- it's my take home quiz for Economics" (which it was). He stopped and said "Hold on...I've got to sign this one!" Then he signed it "Give him an A! --John Candy." The assistant professor gave me an A the next day (he was a fan too!).

I met Wayne Newton 2 years ago after he performed a concert for Arizona centennial 2 years ago. I wanted so much to meet him after I went to the back where his car was. His security guards said don't bother him, but Wayne was very nice; he said he would love to sign autographs and pose for pictures. Amy Van Dykan the Olympics swimmer was in Glendale last week for the tree lighting and I was fortunate to meet her in time she said she was really delighted to meet me. John Candy always enjoyed giving people his autograph. I read that when they were filming Uncle Buck, a lot of fans showed up wanting to get his autograph and he gladly gave it to all of them. I heard that he didn't mind being bothered for autographs and that he actually enjoyed it because he liked the attention. He did enjoy making his fans happy. He was an actor that did like to socialize with his fans. He was a people person, a great quality for a celebrity. Such a class act. And was nice because he was Canadian😉. Seriously, what an inspiration regarding treating strangers, fans, etc. We need millions more like him. Now.

This man is how every actor, entertainer or sports figure should aspire to be like. John is so missed, there will never be another like him. He seemed like such an awesome, nice, genuine person.

Agreed...a lot of them forget whose responsible for their livelihood nevermind widespread success. It's not their agents, it's not directors, it's not fellow actors it's the people who take time out of their day to see their work regardless of how good or bad it turns out to be...whether it's a bad movie, bad concert, bad game...doesn't matter. If they hate the attention so much, they should get the fuck out of Hollywood, they've plenty of money to start a new life elsewhere. Candy was always grateful for his success and never forgot who largely made it happen for him...

He lived not too far from me when I was a kid. I never had the pleasure of meeting him, but everyone around town said what a wonderful man he was. His house also was a very modest ranch style house on an acreage.

I met John Candy in the early 80s when I worked at the Beverly Center Mall. What a great and humble man. Super friendly. Some of my favorite movies (John Hughes of course) feature John Candy.

I met him in Vancouver when he was shooting a movie ate my job site. He didn't hang with the movie people between takes, he spent time with us, chatting about everything and nothing, and just generally being a regular guy. He spent DAYS with us and went from Mr. Candy to John in the first few minutes. He loved to laugh, and obviously he loved making other people laugh. He was a big sweet teddy bear of a guy, and everything s celebrity SHOULD be.

A true talent with a big heart to go with it. All those who knew Mr Candy have spoken highly of him. May his films live on forever.

A much different era. The days when you approached an actor on the street and it was almost as if you were doing them a favour by simply letting them know that you make their lives more worthwhile. No big deal, literally a few seconds that today would equate to hours upon hours of the contemporary star's precious time. You can still get that reciprocity with some actors but social media has really turned it into a fucking warzone and some actors can be total self-centred douchebags. I'm sure Candy would be appalled to see some of the shit that goes on today.
