Could not agree more! Seems they took all the experimentation from the last albums and applied them to "The God Machine" and it could not have been done more perfectly!
I went for a walk with my headphones on and played the album through a couple times and was just blown away by everything - the riffs, the vocals, the drums, everything just resonates perfectly. The pure nostalgia from songs like 'Eternally Apart' and 'In the night' feels like rolling back time to coming home from school and blasting metalcore, to songs like 'The storm in me' which is just absolutely beautiful. - 10/10 album in my opinion and to be honest, goes straight in my top 5 albums of all time, letting alone AOTY. It's an album that you'll come back to in 10 years time and be like 'My Lord this still slaps'
Dark Flag was always my favorite until I recently revisited it. Unfortunately the mixing isn’t great. Till the End is just an all around amazing album! Hopefully one day they get to remix and remaster Dark Flag!
@@michaelv8721 i think the issue with Dark Flag was that they had to mix it themselves so if you focus more on the riffs and songwriting the album is amazing
@@naorishi yeah apparently their guy that mixes was out of the country and they were between labels so they had little means. It’s still the album that got me into Phinehas and one of my favorite albums ever!
Boggles my mind that most reactors push Phineas so far down the priority board or don’t react to them at all. This is Metalcore in its most perfected matured form. People continue to sleep.
I meant mature mostly from a production standpoint. It’s definitely their best mix to date. But yeah I still think the sound in general is pretty mature in the world of modern Metalcore. I think they got a lot more out of the traditional structures than a lot of bands would. All opinion of course. Erra goes for a totally different sound imo so not super comparable.

There's only so many ways to reinvent the wheel. I enjoy music for what it is and not what it isn't. Use to really be into Birb but a lot of times it's just critique. I enjoy seeing others hyped over music which is why I lean more towards this channel as it seems to enjoy music for what it is.

So glad to see you smashing out to this because I enjoyed it so much too. For over 15 years I've held City of Evil as the *perfect* album. Nothing apart from The Blackening ever came close, until 2021, and Erra and Phinehas went supernova on us. For the first time in over a decade I'm genuinely considering whether I have a new greatest album of all time. Thank you Erra. Thank you Phinehas.
I love how on every album, they have a song that starts out soft, but ends heavy, and they’re all so well done. The Wishing Well, Dyson Sphere, Seven, Meaningless Names, and now the Storm in Me. Absolute bangers, all of them

As you can see that the drummer also recorded the last Like Moths to Flames album and that both this Phinehas album and the LMTF album are made in the same studio.

Eternally Apart is still my favorite, but I already faced the fact that it wouldnt be topped before even listening to the whole thing, its the perfect metalcore song, period. Song of the year. For me, incredible bands, or bands that are at the top of the food chain in their respective genres, almost always consist of one of these things: Being groundbreaking and influential, or, being able to do the basics incredibly well, along with great songwriting. The latter is definitely applicable to Phinehas. How have I slept on this band for so long? They're insane!!

You got me into this band. Listened to this album a lot since the release, and it's so heavy and nuts. Eternally Apart is amazing can I can see the crowd screaming that chorus. As a drummer, this is so tasty. I found a new favorite band, and heck, I haven't even heard the rest of their discography!
Returning to this a year later I can say this album was in my top two albums of 2021. "Severed by Self Betrayal" is definitely my favorite track and I've kept this whole album on my main playlist ever since.
It's 100% "headbang" approved. It's like you can't even control it, and in my book this means that an album slllappsss. I was headbanging the whole way through at the office this morning. It's nothing new, but it's executed in a way that if you have respect for the core music, you can't ignore the fact that this album is perfect for what "IT IS". I'm not into classic metalcore anymore, but I follow these guys since Thegodmachine, which is still to this day one of my favorite metalcore ever, and when you follow a band for this long, it hits different no matter how your tastes have evolved, mostly when it's executed in such a great way!

This album is as the name says true the fire itself all tracks one bye one hits hard stuck in your head type. The one song that amaze me is holy coward like the thrash metal touch very much don’t expect so… this will be sure on the top in best metal albums of 2021. 🔥
