LOL it's all good Chris, just glad I was able to help and you got it working. I know what you mean. I'm kmeww deep in chassis repairs and tube swaps. Never seems to end. Spend more time fixing than playing it seems. Thanks for sharing as ways.

Great job! I know anytime I've got to do any sort of repair I'm always expecting everything to BLOW UP when I hit the power. The REFLOW would have scared the ISH out of me. I really need to do like you did and buy some cheap kits to practice on. I've got some maintenance to do on my cabs. I've got a monitor out on 2P of my Virtua Racing that I need to troubleshoot. Probably either power or flyback. My dot matrix display just went out on my pinball this weekend, but thankfully that seems to just be a fuse, waiting for replacement fuses to show up. My Virtua Fighter randomly freezes, so I've got to get in there and see what's up. And my wiring harness in my MK is incredibly touchy, so I'll need to replace that. OHHH but it's part of the fun of owning them. Sure is satisfying though when you fix something! Keep it up dude and you'll be the next MIKE in 10-20 years that people contact for tips.

Hahaha I know that feeling. I check every thing about 10 times before turning it back on. The cheap soldering kit was great for me. I didn’t care if I butchered it. I honestly may get another one just for more practice. Troubleshooting arcade PCBs is what scares me still. I just don’t know enough about them. Which is why I store an extra MK4 and KI PCB lol.

The soldering and desoldering really isn’t that tough. Knowing what to put where and what causes what issue is the hard part to me. If you’re really nervous, grab one of those DIY radio kits on Amazon. You can practice soldering components in.

Props to fixing those monitors man! Yep baby steps and you are picking up things. I am still doing that with my soldering skills. lol Of course I repair consoles and such and trying to build a business doing that. Anyway going outside to remove the destroyed rear driver side wheel bearings in my '82 Datsun 280zx 5 speed slicktop coupe. Pretty sure they are original and the Z has almost 200k of abused miles on it.

Great job bro! And great video! Unfortunately this is the thing with owning real cabinets. I feel like you really have to enjoy repairing these things. This is the thing keeping me from owning anymore real cabs. I was really thinking about rebuying a KI after one of our conversations a while back. But remembering diagnosing these problems was a real headache. The actual repairs are usually simple, it’s knowing what to repair is the difficult part lol. As far as cap replacement those are easy peasy. You’ll have no problems at all. Just remember if you’re going to replace one might as well replace them all.

@@arcaderacer586 yes. I fully understand that move. But you miss out on that beautiful crt picture. There’s just something about playing these things the way they are intended to be played. I know most have crt fillers and such and the look good to varying degrees. But I much rather play on a crt.

Hey man my KI2 died the day I bought it within an hour. Lol had it repaired by a guy around DC. Now my MK4 is all waving for some reason the screen knobs don't stop it, and now my MK1 resets it's self after about 15 min of play.

Hey Chris question and by the way, I love your work…should I buy a crazy taxi near me instead of San Francisco rush the rock…in your opinion which one do you think is better if I can get either or❓❓…thanks👊🏻✌🏻
@KillerArcadeGames

Hmm…well I’d vote Rush because the gameplay is more deep and will have more replay value. But Crazy Taxi is probably worth more money in the long run. I’d ultimately decide which game you want to play more.
