I asked this all the way back on the first episode, but do you think you could show the rare Bowser Space events? More specifically, the ones in Mario Party 1, like where Bowser steals coins from you just because he doesn't like you if everyone wins his minigame, but I think the other games also have rare events (like the obvious 100 Star Present, or landing on the space with no coins or stars) that would be worth showing off
As much as another video would be appreciated, all of the yellow events in Bowser's wheel have Bowser escaping. Except for Mario Party 10, I think, where instead of giving 1,000 mini stars he gives you 1 and tells you to go away.
@@user-sh7kw2qr3y Yeah, I know what it does, I mainly just pointed it out because it's a common appearance throughout games (mainly the first 4) that some people may have never seen. I'm more interested in the alternate Bowser minigame outcomes if everyone wins/loses, or if you run into him with no coins/stars
In DS, however, the roulette can stop on the orange highlighted option, but only for a second; Bowser rigs it to select something entirely different. It should go without saying that it happens during the Final Five Frenzy.
Ahmad1cool :D That was the *first* thing that happened to me from the first time playing Mario Party 9 since the game came out and landing on a Bowser Space in said game! You can possibly imagine just _how_ I reacted to that!
I wish they'd bring the lottery shop back honestly. I always thought it was a cool risk/reward system. Granted, not a particularly great one since the risk is hardly meaningful, but getting lucky can allow you to snag the coin star and potentially win the whole game because of it. I had that exact thing happen to me in Shy Guy's Jungle Jam, where I was lagging behind a COM in the coin count. On the last turn, I stopped by the lottery shop, got the ball minigame, and won 30 coins from it, giving me just enough to claim the coin star and win the game. It can make for some interesting plays and I love it for that. Really do wish they'd bring it back.
I’ve always wondered why it would be so hard to win the star ticket at the end of the game. If each player played the lottery and got a ticket, with each of their characters being different with no overlap, somebody would HAVE to win, but there always seems to be times where multiple players get, say, Mario as the first character on their cards and the game chooses someone like Donkey Kong. All my life I have NEVER seen someone win one of those things at the end of the game.
Same for me, played Mario party 4 hundreds of times with friends and have gotten 1st prize at the scratch card game a few times and at least once with the ball game, but never gotten a star from the end of game ticket lottery
Great video as usual. A little oddity that I found is that the CPUs/computer characters NEVER win the Scratch Off minigame, ever. They can win the ball one but always pick a "Try again" scratch card (regardless of difficulty).
I played Mario party 4 with my friend: once my friend went to the lottery, he left the room, I drew out his card and got a 1 and I screamed!!! The next time my friend went to the lottery, he left the room again, I choose the ticket for him and he go ANOTHER 1.
Nothing special. Whoever has no correct fruits to pick from when it's their turn just gets screwed(well, roasted, actually), because you have to pick a fruit every turn.
John Luke Corpus Unfortunately, no one is neither spared nor benefited from this, as this is _the_ only time Bowser takes coins. Interestingly, in Mario Party 2, if the player assigns Donkey Kong as a CPU, his description reads that he "thinks he can whip Bowser in a fight". I can only surmise that it only happens at that moment in Mario Party 5.
I've asked this before, but can you do an analysis on the Koopa Bank? Specifically, can it get full on coins? Same for the Bowser Bank in MP2, is there a maximum withdrawal limit?
In a 50-turn play in Mario Party 3, I was able to get as much as 97 coins in the Koopa Bank, so I would assume it can hold an infinite amount. As for the variation in MP2's Bowser Land, the Bowser Bank, it is essentially the opposite, albeit risky. After taking the loan, the next time a player lands on the Bank Space at any given point, that player's pockets will be pretty much emptied out. If a Star is in possession, that will be taken, but only if the player in question has no coins to fork over. Take my advice; avoid that loan!
Btw in SMP 2v2, your controller will vibrate while you’re walking if you pass a hidden block, so pay attention as you walk and you could pinpoint a potential star
So Koopa Kid says "Ruffle my hair", "Kick my shell", &... "By my papa's pants!"?! Who's his dad? Surely not Bowser, right? I mean, Bowser doesn't wear pants, so it can't be him.... But yeah. Good video!
Alias Pseudonym I think Koopa Kid is like Dr. Evil‘s Mini-Me from Austin Powers. He is literally called Mini-Bowser in some translations, so he’s probably a clone of sorts.
Somehow I don’t think the scratch game odds are really 1/12 for each prize... I tabulated 907 lottery playings that occurred naturally in my own games (both myself and CPUs), and came up with this: Ticket - 455 total games 1st: 14 (3.08%) 2nd: 9 (1.98%) 3rd: 14 (3.08%) Loss: 418 (91.87%) Ball - 452 total games 1st: 6 (1.33%) 2nd: 56 (12.39%) 3rd: 83 (18.36%) Loss: 307 (67.92%) So the ball game probabilities seem consistent with the video, but for the ticket game, it seems more like there’s only one winning ticket at a time, and that one ticket is equally likely to be any of the three prizes.
I think I know why and it's because of the CPUs. The computer characters ALWAYS fail the Scratch game. It's a little weird but they always pick a bad ticket. They can win the ball one however.
Regarding the ball side of the lottery, in one play I just witnessed two CPUs, one after another, get third prize. Unbelievably, both won the exact same item, which was a Super Mega Mushroom.
Hmm, that's odd. I didn't have to test the scratch off ticket multiple times because a save state revealed all the tickets each and every time. If I used the same save state and picked the top right ticket every time, it would always be the same result. So every time I picked the first place ticket for that save state, it was always the same one, same for the other two prizes. This was the case for all six times I did this. And I just saw the comment below about CPUs always picking a bad ticket, that might explain it!
One of my favorite Mario Party 4 memories is getting 3 stars normally, one from a hidden block, and then getting 100 coins from the lottery all in one game. Needless to say my friend playing with me was not happy in the slightest...
Here’s a rarity: In Mario Party 6, two people won at once in a single duel mini game. No tie. In one game, Lunar-tics, two people have tied with the same margin from zero, but from early and late. As a result, there is not a tie, but both players won.
@Toad Da Best The time in your link is wrong, and should be 4407s instead of 4430s. So, your link should be this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pgL0XB2PqUw.html
I like how out of all of them, Boo is the one that is the least happy for you whenever you win a prize. Koopa Kid acts in a sarcastic manner if you lose but even he is impressed if you get the top prize.
It's easier to change some of the values of items you have but to change the deeply routed algorithm of the dice availability and the random nature of the numbers generated I can only assume is significantly harder and prone to unprecedented problems.
Lottery system, slot machines, Pachinko and an entire casino-themed board. What were they thinking putting all these gambling references in a kids game...
How about a Rare Oddities where we see which MPs have the dice pre-determined or random? I know from you that it's pre-determined in DS, and my personal testing shows it's also like that in 1. 2 & 3 is random, though there seems to be some sort of timing based on the setup I use. I wasn't able to test beyond 3.
For MP1-3 Opponents dice rolls are normally pretermined, however If you pause before they hit the dice block, and adjust a setting (in MP3 speed for instance) it changes what they'll hit and their actions
I have experienced the "1" scratch and gold ball before very occasionally, but NEVER once, the ticket, had been accomplished. So nice to see what happens. (Oh, at 3:55, somebody's using an Action Replay, which I'm not surprised to make this footage possible)
I've played Mario Party 4 a lot over the years and I can't remember the last time anyone won the last 5 turns lottery ticket game. It feels as rare as the Bowser Suit. (At this point, I wish I still had 5, 6, 7 and possibly 8. 4 and Super are the only ones I have.)
To anyone who hasn't watched ZoomZike's video yet, The chances of winning in the character minigame is this (1/4 chance that your first character gets picked x the 1/4 that your second character got picked x the 1/4 chance that your third character got picked), That's a 1/64 chance right there!
In the ball game of the Lottery Shop, a yellow ball is 1st prize, a red ball is 2nd, a blue is 3rd, and a white is nothing. In the "Scratch Cards" game of the Lottery Shop, a "1" is 1st prize, a "2" is 2nd, a "3" is 3rd, and a "LOOK AGAIN!" is nothing. There are twelve cards. While 1 card has a "1", and 1 card has a "2", and 1 card has a "3", the other 9 are all a "LOOK AGAIN!". The 1st prize is 100 coins, the 2nd prize is 50 coins, and the 3rd prize is a Mushroom (Triple Mega or Double Mini). If you get the 3rd prize and have three items already, you can't have the Mushroom. Triple Mega and Double Mini Mushrooms also can be won in Lottery Shops you know. If bought from an Item Shop, they cost 15 coins (expensive than a Double Mega and Single Mini Mushroom).
For the Last 5 Turns draw, I assume that the game will re-roll to prevent handing out identical tickets to different players? I would hope so, or that would require programming in another edge of multiple players winning it. When are those tickets determined by the way? It seems like it would be possible to just generate each player's ticket at the beginning of the game, but I could see it being generated at the beginning of the turn or when the player enters the shop too.
I really don't like how characters do their minigame losing animations for losing the lottery. Like, is it worth getting that upset over? (I guess in Wario's case it would be) but I feel like the animation for landing on a red space would do just fine.
Could you record what Bowser says to each character in Mario Party 8's DK's Treetop Temple? When a character lands on a Bowser space, there is some dialogue before the star is moved, but the dialogue is character-specific (and I have not found a comprehensive list anywhere on the Internet).
I remember with (female) characters like Peach, Daisy, Toadette and Birdo, Bowser calls them a cutie, whereas for those such as Wario and Dry Bones, he calls them tough guys. I do not know about everyone else, though. That's all I know.
I have never seen a ticket win at the last 5 turns event. At least not live. I have also only seen MP4's Bowser costume live once. And CPU Daisy completely wasted it...
One time I was flat out rude to CPU Daisy. I was already frustrated with the skyscraper feature and struggling, then suddenly Daisy hits the jackpot, so I shut down the game (too bad so sad CPU Daisy, you're not a human player).
Koopa Kid: "By my Papa's pants! You won first prize! The 100 coins are yours". Me: Wait, pants, did he just foreshadow Bowser in his wedding suit in Mario Odyssey?
I have an idea is it possible for every one to get the same tickets or to get say 3 peaches in one ticket in Mario Party 4 and what happens if it is possible???
I remember playing Mario Party 4 way back when and my little sister got first prize with the ball game. Immediately after that I got first prize with the scratch-off game. Talk about luck!
Even if you were to win the 2nd prize or the 1st prize, you'd end up with either 25 coins or 95 coins coming back to your pocket in Mario Party 4, since the 5 coin entry fee is unavoidable.
How about the text shown when in Mario Party 7 you get all coins (better done in 8 players mode) in map events? Like the roller coaster in Bowser´s Inferno, the gondola in Grand Canal, the batting in Neon Heights, and the infamous trampoline in Windmillville. I think there´s also a different text for getting no coins at all.
Literally my first time ever with the lottery ticket was a 3. I was like "Aw man, just 3 coins? Lame", after which I got showered in coins... Never won the lottery again after that. (Aside from getting an item or 30 coins)
I've played story mode 3 times in MP4 and I have yet to get 1st prize in the scratch lottery or ball lottery, or get a star from the ticket drawing. (Even the CPUs didn't)
I was drawing up all the possibilities of the lottery ticket drawing and it does make sense what he's saying about having a 1.5% shot at earning a star. Let's say Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Wario are playing on Goomba's Greedy Gala and Mario is given a ticket that may present one character occupying all 3 spaces (4 ways), 1 character occupying 2 spaces with someone else taking 1 space (36 ways), or any 3 characters occupying 1 space a piece (24 ways). All Mario has is a 1/64 (1.5625%) chance of earning a star in the last 5 turns event. Heavily unlikely? Yes. Impossible? Not really. The odds are just against you. For anyone looking for a time-efficient way of arriving at this instead of using the hand-drawn version, it's very simple: 1/((# characters on board)^(# of ticket spaces)).
Now I have won the coins prize in the lottery a lot, although I've only seen someone get the star prize once. Same with the actually lottery when he draws the names near the end. I've only seen someone win that once. I've never won the scratch off lottery version though. Only the ball one lol
What if you have the maximum amount of stars and win the Lucky Party Ticket Drawing? Will it say that you can't hold any more stars, or will the game crash?
If it interests anyone, I'm working on a list of what minigames in the Mario Party series are likely to end in a draw. It's a work-in-progress, so it will take quite some time.
Take note, my list is a work-in-progress. In any case, if anyone is interested in seeing it, I want you to send an email to alpizarda@gmail.com. Give me a minute, though; I'm updating the chart, but I can send it anytime now.
Kids these days don't know what true disappointment is because they never won third prize in the lottery only to realize they already have the max three items.
Mr. Mario Party Legacy? Do you have VC games? If so, do you have the games in the Super Smash Bros series (if you have played them) including Super Smash Bros N64 on VC for Wii (both on the Wii and Wii U's Wii Mode)?
One time on Netplay I went to the lotto shop twice and got gold both times (I shit you not) and this other guy got two hidden blocks both with stars. What are the odds? Sadly though someone's game kept crashing so we never could finish the game...
