He most definitely has. 🥺 Even worse, he has to deal with Morina always dunking on him. 😞😂 But yeah, Crispin's story is very much a "you either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain" kind of thing. He doesn't actually want to hurt people, but he very much *does* want to survive. And when you're king, especially one in a precarious position, sometimes casual cruelty is necessary in order to survive. He's sad and vaguely apologetic that he's had to do all of this in order to stay alive, but he's also smug that despite all odds he's not only managed to survive, but even to work his way up from being a commoner to being king. Would he like to have had a better way? Absolutely. Would he change what he's done, given the chance? Probably not, since he would likely die.

I think personal survival is one of the few acceptable justifications for doing what Crispin has done, and honestly, I am pretty okay with his smugness since it makes so much sense---getting THAT far and still being alive? That's an achievement for real, even if everyone hates you for it. :(

The audio wasn't intended to advocate for a specific position on the issue, but it's very clear which side Crispin falls on. I think I fall more on the side of the -princess,- ahem, *queen.* It's good to hear that you're getting better, and that you're taking your meds! Make sure to take everything the doctor told you to, one of the causes of antibiotic resistant bacteria is people not taking the last few pills after they feel better, and it lets the remaining bacteria (which may have survived due to resistance to that antibiotic) live. One of the things I still remember from microbiology class. 😅
