tried half cab today. That was a tricky little move. After about 45 minutes I landed one (about 160 degrees). Still wildly inconsistent for now...... I can do 180 hoptwist and can ride backwards pretty comfortably.....trying to pair them together...getting there. thanks man

Hey Eli, thanks for taking the time to put together and post all these videos, especially the instructional ones. Some truly amazing moves! I have watched many unicycle videos and yours definitely rank with the best of the best. You are wheely good (pun intended). I am a newbie and taking the slow and steady approach so not to get injured. (At the 180 jump turn, riding backwards, etc. stage) Why is it that most good riders like yourself do not wear even basic safety gear, helmet and wrist guards? How often have you been injured over the years and what were the worst injuries? Any broken bones? Also curious at what age you started riding and how many hours did it take you to ride 100 feet in control? And to learn to static mount fairly consistent? Did you “pick it up” right away or were you a mere mortal like the rest of us? Keep posting. 👍 〽️urr 🚁

Heli Murr thanks for the great comment! I’m glad you like my content- I’ll be making these tutorials again soon enough. I think the main reason most riders don’t wear safety gear is it’s just uncomfortable and cumbersome. I don’t like feeling weighed down and for the most part it doesn’t feel like I’m trying anything particularly dangerous when I’m on flat ground. I’ve been giving a lot more thought recently to the idea of wearing a helmet while riding street though. I’ve had my fair share of injuries and as I get older I’m realizing I might have gotten lucky a few times... The worst injuries I’ve had were all from riding street, and particularly from trying to grind handrails that were outside my ability level when I tried them. One time I broke my foot and my wrist at the same time when I split a handrail. Just a few years ago I tore all the ligaments in my left ankle messing up a different rail. I learned to ride when I was 12 years old, and I just turned 25. When I started riding I was stubborn and didn’t want to learn without simultaneously learning to free mount. So it took me a few weeks. When I started trying tricks a few months later it came fairly naturally to me and I wouldn’t hesitate to say I was a quick learner, relative to what I’ve seen of other riders. I also just had all the time in the world to practice so I would ride for hours and hours on a daily basis.

@@EliBrill I know you've probably answered this xD but what Unicycle would you recommend for flatland and street.

@@pitathechip I recommend you try a MAD4ONE or Impact setup. They’re the best for flat and street and are pretty reasonably priced

@@EliBrill I appreciate you responding to all my questions but I have one more. I looked into the Mad4one and I was wondering if you could buy the replacement parts in the US if something breaks like the tire or seat.

@@pitathechip sure thing! You absolutely can replace parts like that from the US. You can buy from Unicycle.com.

can you give a few more tips on no-footer jumps. (I suck at them)

man I was the worst at those, but through weekly practice I started to see progress. I think it's just muscle memory/coordination that takes time to develop. Almost hit my first unispin two days ago. Hoping to have them down in the months to come.
