Hi! Firstly, it's great to hear that you're wanting to be a CPO. You are doing miracle work and are going to help so many people so I thank you for that. Now on to your question. My prothestist told me that she starts all her new amputees off with the lanyard suspension because in the first months post-op, the volume of the residual limb tends to fluctuate more due to post-amputation swelling and other factors like the changes in muscle use. Her reasoning is that another type of suspension system wouldn't be as secure for the limb since its changing whereas with the lanyard, even if the volume of the limb is fluctuating it's still being held secure into the socket. I do not at the moment, however I’ve recently learned that my socket isn’t big enough and I’m not hitting the bottom of it like I should so I haven’t been able to be in it all the way yet to feel contact in those areas.

I do not know exactly but very expensive, these kinds of legs are usually only able to be gotten with the help of health insurance. I think without insurance it would be tens of thousands of dollars.
