The perm is a big change, but I honestly think it's a good one! When you get used to it, I think you'll be rushing back to the salon every few months for a touch-up! You can see how your experience styling it is increasing as the viseo goes on! I love how it looks after the cut at 7:46 - which demonstrates that the key to a good perm is the right cut! I also love how it looks at 12:41 too! Keep on perming!!!

aw thank you cheryl!!! haha yes i'm nervous for when it grows out and the top of my head is flat! and definitely agree with getting the right cut, i'm so glad I went to a curly hair specialist haha. thank you!!!!

@@jennyjzhou You're welcome! Don't be nervous - just go back to the salon in 3-4 months time and get them to perm your new growth in the root area only. There's quite a few vids on here showing this - basically only the straight new growth is wound on to the rods and permed, with the already curly hair from the previous perm wrapped in foils and not processed. You might occasionally have to re-perm your whole head if the existing curls drop, but normally you can maintain it by perming your roots only - keeping your hair healthy!

Love your new curls!!!!! Like you hinted at, I think the final touch would be get some light blonde streaks put in using a frosting cap, as this would really heighten the texture of your curls, and the blonde sections would look amazing contrasted against your naturally black hair! Do it in a follow up vid!!!!!

Jenny, I feel you on so many levels!! This happened to me right before my high school prom!! it was the first time perming my hair and I went to "asian aunty" hair salon too.. i was petrified when the curlers were removed 😂

I Love your perm!!!!! The tighter curls look great, and you don't look anything like a poodle - except for looking cute! lol Caring for for and styling curly hair is a learning curve if you've had flat and boring straight hair all your life, but it's well worth the effort! I hope you continue to get perms going forward and never go back to having straight hair again!
