Well hey! Yah, I love my Bermuda once it greens up, but we all secretly wish we had cool season grasses :). Just wouldn’t last with our ‘wonderful’ Texas heat :) . Welcome to the channel!
Just a quick video showing my very first step to the new lawn season! Yes! I'm fighting weeds already due to the acre next to mine. We're in their drainage.
Poa is short for Poa Annua. It's the same thing as annual BlueGrass. In Texas, it's considered a nuisance grass and is killed. Just like in other parts of the US, where Bermuda is considered a weed. No, Poa Annua dies when it gets hot enough, and it's rather soft and nice, but will not survive in Texas. Thanks for the question! :)
Man I know it! Seems our pre-ems didn't work all that well. Our soils are so stressed from that drought, there is no telling what actually worked! I've noticed a few neighbors with very bad Poa this year.
what part of TX you in ? I'm in San Antonio last year was very bad with POA but this year i have put down Prodiamine 65 WDG and only see 2 spots next to the sidewalk.. I will be leveling this year and buying a reel mower
Sounds like a good plan! I’m in the Dallas area, but I do love San Antonio. The Prodiamine 65 is also in the barricade, just as a granule. Our lawns have been so saturated, and in my video, those dark areas, that’s all soaking wet weedy run off from the field next to us. Weeds travel and collect in my yard. Lucky me. I do have luck with year-end pre-emergent applications controlling the weeds and Poa, but it still raises its ugly head in those saturated areas. That’s why I spray the Negate too. The combination of things, starting with this video and the next few show how I usually handle it. Stay tuned!
