Here in Washington state,Yakima county the whole building permit process is extremely expensive, the department is not helpful at all,and they make it very extensive and complicated... You Guy's are so very lucky to have such a great building department. Congratulations!
First. Congratulations! Second, Wow! What a simple permit in Idaho. Compare with the Bay Area-CA: permit cost, multiple layer of inspections, response time from the city, required signatures, and coordination with multiple agencies /architect / contractors, you are really blessed with the simplicity.
It's quiet simple for a building permit. Here in Indonesia it's quiet hard to get building permit IMB just for a simple house. We need to provide many documents including architectura/technical drawing. Just like a corruptor once said, "If it can to be harder, why make it simpler?"
Love how the plans followed Seth's Minecraft proposal. Haha. Just a suggestion. Maybe consider attached bathrooms for the kids so they do not need to go downstairs for the bathroom?
We might do that later. We have a small budget and it is more important that guests don't have to go upstairs to go to the bathroom. Guests don't normally use the master bath so there should be 2 bathrooms downstairs.
How come you all decided to move from TN to Idaho? I heard land was super cheap in TN and didn’t have a lot of laws and regulations compared to other states
Pak Martin over there on your very own property if you find something such as tressure, prehistoric items, are you allow to keep them or you must surrender them to the gov. As far as I know that in some country by law you must surrender and report them to the goverment.
Hey guys. Great video. We are doing the same thing in Utah starting this May and we're about to start the permit process. We are building a 1300 sq ft log home as owner/builders with a loft similar to yours. Our permit application asks for a geotechnical survey and a septic letter before they will issue a permit. Did your county not require those?
No. It is pretty ez in our country. We had to get a septic permit but it was unrelated to the building permit. You can build with out a septic permit. But you can’t install septic with out a septic permit. You can also get an outhouse permit.
Is there more than one egress for the upstairs bedrooms in case of a fire. the wood stove by the stairs, if it starts a fire, it could restrict the people in the loft from escaping. Maybe a lean to roof on the north wall to allow escape from the windows onto the roof and a short jump to the ground. Just thinking out loud.
There is one for each bedroom. There will probably be a rope latter attached below the windows that can be let down in case of a fire. I like the lean to roof idea also.
I'll make a video about why Idaho. My job here is only for 1 school year. I don't want to work here longer than that. That forest is our land in Idaho.
I am a servant permit building in North Sumatra indonesia, specially spatial map urban planning, law permit building not clearly for customers from federal government, many documents must be there from customers and the law complicated will make crime services.
All these permits..in a city I get it...but if you own the property in the middle of nowhere...that's ridiculous...the only permits you need here are for fences or advertisement signs if it's not public property.
as I understand it, unlike many countries that only allow land sales to those with citizenship in the country, the United States treats sales of real estate to foreigners almost the same as sales to citizens.
We add one later. We have a small budget and it is more important that guests don't have to go upstairs to go to the bathroom. Guests don't normally use the master bath so there should be 2 bathrooms downstairs.
You better believe there is, people are just ignorant to that fact... Do your research and you will find ALL the details you need. Hint: think about how the Amish, Native Indians, and some other indigenous individuals live.... Happy hunting!
it just means you don't have to rely on public utilities, no public water, instead just septic and well, no electricity, instead solar panels, no public schools, instead homeschooling.
@@mariacerrato2931Apparently like what I said though. There are no more new posts/videos from them or I don't see their posts on my feeds anymore from them it seems.
yeah, lots of people do, with technology the way its going, it's not what it used to be. You can live quite comfortably w/o being connected to the grid, and have internet too!
Let me help you. Off-the-grid or off-grid is a characteristic of buildings and a lifestyle designed in an independent manner without reliance on one or more public utilities. It has nothing to do with permits.
Martin Johnson - Off Grid Living .... I meant no disrespect but if you were truly off grid... permits would not be necessary... it’s like the solar panel situation... when the power goes out so do most solar systems... off grid means just that... OFF THE GRID... but we as free people are forced by the barrel of a gun to comply with city, state, and federal ORDINANCES or policies... when a person buys solar panels... they want power when they need it... when a person goes off grid.... they usually don’t want to be found... well... your PERMIT let’s the powers that be know exactly where u are... defeats the purpose... wouldn’t u say... unless of course u just like to say the phrase OFF GRID and similar terms for personal gratification and don’t really mean what you say but likes the “lifestyle”... either or... ur not of grid... ur gridlocked... we all are...
