We live in France and have a 1993 Westfalia California T4. We are having a little trip away this week down near Biarritz and the fan belt snapped 10km from our Camping Car Park site (highly recommend checking them out for secure pitches inc elec hook up 365 days a year for between 10 and 16 euros a night). Didn't make for a panic moment as the battery is new and I always take 2 spare fan belts, a power steering belt, fuel filter, glow plug, hose clamps, self amalgam tape for hose breaks, exhaust bandage, one axle stand, 2 jacks, slab of oak flooring as jack pad, obviously all the fluids, jump leads, decent socket set, hose clamp etc. I say this just to confirm that things don't always go to plan but some basic spares will keep you rolling and the miles adding up. Happy holidays!! Enjoy every moment.
@tonyanddeb1012 oh no sorry to hear your belt snapped. Will have a look at the camping car park sites thankyou. Thanks for the list of things to take, having an older van we need to make sure we have everything with us. Take care Sarah
Me and my wife have a similar motorhome, which we bought and started to renovate last year.. Following your journey and liked your way of fixing the front looks really good, will probably do the same - thanks for the idea 😊

@donnysweekendadventurevanlifetravel7854 yes we’ve had damp before from a previous leak on the roof and replaced walls in the cupboard! We are hoping Sofia keeps plodding on. Thanks Donny ☺️ glad you managed to sort your van out old vans are the best. Take care Sarah
My wife bought a Kon-Tiki Fiat Ducato 2.5 TD G Reg 1990 with no power steering a couple of weeks ago while i was away working without looking at it first. Now i have taken down the roof as it was very wet all woodwork has been taken out so now it's a complete rebuild. Luckily the mot runs out June next year the engine has had a full rebuilt new clutch etc. All the wooden lats are soft and decayed so that's a job and a half to do both walls need replying including the celling all cupboards need rebuilding what was she thinking???.
@@neilglenwright7384 wow that sounds like an amazing project. Our van does not have power steering either! You do get use to it. Good luck with the renovation I’m sure it will be amazing when it’s finished. Great that it’s got a rebuilt clutch. Hope it all goes well please keep us updated. Take care Sarah
