Well, using colour certainly hasn't held you back, Paul. Your non-monochrome photographs are fabulous. I love shooting with my Fujifilm cameras when I leave the Q2 monochrom at home.

I think I’m more comfortable with the Fuji colours because I just dial in something I like and just use the jpgs without worrying if my colours are right or wrong! Thanks for your kind comment. I was nervous about releasing a colour photography video

Enjoyed your presentation and subscribed to your channel. I'll be reviewing your past episodes now and can't wait to watch your new ones. It's great to watch what other photographers are doing across the pond. 'Chuck Ables, Prescott Valley, Arizona'.

Colour or monochrome doesn't matter if you chose the correct scene and Glasgow is one of my favo cities for street/documentary photography 'cause the scene in combination with the people makes its one of my favo places in Europe.

Nice! I shoot an XPro3 with the Fuji 35mm f2 and 35mm f1.4. Used it all over Scotland on a 2022 trip.

I like those colour snaps … thanks! As it happens, I just acquired a 1/8 Black Pro Mist filter this week. I’m only just starting out with it and hope that it might enhance the Acros+R B&W photos that I take with my Fuji X100V. I’d be interested to see some of your Q2M images with and without the filter to see the effect.

I think the important thing is : "do you love your color photos ?" , for me to be "successful photographer" is doing what YOU Like most and don't care about the other. unless it's a paid assignment, your not taking photo to please others but to please you.

So I think it was an interesting experience. Maybe I changed too much all at the same time with the 50mm equivalent rather than 28mm. Maybe just simply changing focal length was enough to deal with
@veryjr2966
@veryjr2966 10 месяцев назад
Aside from switching from b/w to color- how did you find shooting with 50mm (full frame) vs 28mm on your Q2M - did you approach the scenes differently, did you “think 50mm” ? Thanks !
@paulreidphotography
@paulreidphotography 10 месяцев назад
Honestly it was a struggle! I’m so used to being much quicker and snappier on the streets and 28mm allows me to do that. I think after a week or so shooting 50mm I would be much better

Hi Paul. What film simulation did you use on the Fuji ?

It was a bit of a made up recipe!! Classic neg with some amendments to some stuff. Send me an email to remind me and I will look at the camera to see exactly what it was if you like the look.

Didn’t see anything real distinguishing about these color images. They were nice as they were but it would be interesting to see them against mono processed versions. An interesting endeavor though and always good to break the mold once in a while. Thanks.
@paulreidphotography
@paulreidphotography 10 месяцев назад
Way out of my comfort zone! I can’t see that they would be any better in mono. A good photo is a good photo and I really don’t believe the conversion changes anything much especially on a day with flat light. I saw this day as very much a learning process for me. Thanks for watching the video

I decided a while ago that, for me, just about anything looks better in b&w, unless the subject of the image is colour itself, for example some of the colourful graffiti in the background of your video. It's the abstraction; your colour street shots look too 'real' and therefore unremarkable, whereas b&w forces you to see it differently. Just my opinion.

you reveal faces with so much humanism, color and B&W. To improve maybe, stay more in between front and side position. Front ones look less natural and side ones are too side, just a little bit in between
