I was 21 when I got my driver’s license. I was afraid to drive because even though I passed my road test, I still didn’t really know how to drive. The anxiety comes from not being confident in what you are doing. You’re constantly second guessing yourself. I drove in NYC which gives even more anxiety. I scraped a few cars. I felt so bad. So I didn’t drive for 4 years. One day, I just visualized me driving with ease and it was like I knew what I was doing in my dream. So I bought a car at 25 and I challenged myself to drive every single day. I would go to empty parking lots, and practice parking in a spot. I would get on the road early in the morning and practice switching lanes with other cars around me on highways. But the road wasn’t crowded in the morning so it wasn’t as stressful. I just drove every single day. Within 4-5 months, I felt like I’ve been driving for years. My confidence grew. I became a better driver. That was over 10 years ago. I drive any and everywhere now. It’s really about practicing. You will get it.
Thank you so much! , That’s exactly what I need to do ; practice switching lanes and I need to drive every day I would get frustrated and not practice on the freeway for weeks at a time. Thank you for sharing this.
@@JasmineIneice No problem. Yes every day Drive. And if possible, drive around the time of day when there’s less cars on the road. It will help build your confidence. Anything you practice at daily, you have no choice but to get better at it. Good luck.👍
I was thinking about driving daily but parking is hard to find my area and already got 2 tickets but I’ll just try to drive more often so I can do it when there are less cars on the road.
Thanks for sharing ur story! Gives me peace of mind. I can’t take my road test yet until dec. but when I tried moving forward in my moms car, I was stressseddddd. But it will go away w practice
It’s really comforting to know that I’m not the only that suffers from driving anxiety. Car accidents are my worst fear, especially being in that situation alone and having no one else there for support. I always feel like whenever I forget to do that one little thing then it means I shouldn’t even be on the road.
I don’t even have a drivers license but I want one and I am also scared about those things. My mom said that I shouldn’t think about crashing. I didn't even pass the bike test because I panicked on the road. But I was only in elementary school then. ( I live in Austria 🇦🇹 )
I got my driver's license two months ago and every time I get out of my car I swear I'm not going to drive anywhere anymore because of how stressful it is. Seeing you try and succed to drive to work gave me hope that I too can get over my driving anxiety. Thank you 🥺
The good thing about it though is that you’re alone in the car and you can give yourself pep talks without nobody hearing. Or scream while overtaking, it’s pretty hilarious but it works, calms the nerves
as someone who has her learners permit and also has driving anxiety, it's comforting to know people who have their licences also experience anxiety on the road!!
I’m 28 years old and I’ve never driven on a highway by myself ever in my life. I start college classes in a few weeks and I need to learn to conquer this anxiety, constricting phobia once and for all.
@@joannaajoi8539 I’m only 25 and still nervous. I got used to it at first and I haven’t been behind the over a year that’s what make me nervous to get back to driving
I'm 26 but I'll need to jump back behind the wheel soon after having a collision (no one was harmed but it was pretty scary), wish me luck, hope I won't be too nervous but I seriously don't know what to expect of myself. Fingers crossed for all of you guys!
Just got my license today and I don’t know why I unconsciously thought that the anxiety would disappear after I got it. Super nervous but willing to do it scared! Praying the Lord keeps me and others safe 🙏
girl its you driving in the rain for me lmao i would've had a panic attack then probably crash lol. I'm 20 and just got my permit, soon getting my license and i am such a nervous wreck about everything!
@@JasmineIneiceyes it does get easier with practice. I am currently trying to get over anxiety after 6 months of being scared to drive my car. I know I have to practice everyday until I feel more confident.
Hello Queen I am a 62 year old female from NY, that moved to Florida AND NOWi taking driving lessons 😮 I’ve had 6-2 hour lessons and still have anxiety driving 😩 I can maneuver the streets, but have a “ death grip” on the steering wheel. I really want to say that I admire your courage and determination to drive. I now wish I had begun at an early age 😢. God bless you and keep you safe
This is so relatable 😭 I got my license in September and I’ve just been forcing myself out there. I just got over my fear of the highway. It is not easy, and sometimes I still get really nervous especially when parking in tight spaces. I’m the opposite when it comes to people though, I get more nervous when there are other people in the car, when I’m alone I’m fine. We just have to take it day by day🤍 Cheers to facing fears!
I am an older lady who started driving at age 39. I am age 41 now. I have my examination permit. I take my road test again on March 25th. Wish me luck. Pray for me. I want to get my provisional driver license upgrade. Congrats on getting your license. I pray to get my license soon!
I'm 21 and I have my permit but I’ve been super anxious about taking the driving portion of the test and its honestly very comforting to know that I’m not the only person who is struggling with driving anxiety especially considering that everybody I know is driving and doesn’t understand my fear
Hi queen!!! I also have drivers anxiety it’s taken me years to get behind the wheel, but now that I have found the courage it’s easier every day. I’m so proud of you for loving yourself enough to tackle your anxieties and live a full life!!! ♥️
I think it's cool that you are driving. I am too! I am trying to get my license at the DMV in mid-late March. I am 41 years old. I got my examination permit at age 39. I am cool with driving at age 41. No big deal! I have driven my mom's Honda CR-V SUV a few times before. We'll see what happens after the pandemic is over. The probationary period is two years from permit to a basic NJ driver's license. This is a process that has different stages. I have to practice on my own for at least a year before I can upgrade to a four-year NJ driver's license.
It's ok the more you drive the better you get at it... And learn from the mistakes I'm a new driver as well it's been a journey but I'm doing good lol...
Sisss thankss for sharing ! I'm a Young Mommy of soon to be 4 & I'm definitely ready to get up & out of my fear of driving!! This was so motivational ! Also youu did great Siss , the rain was your test that day ! It was to show youu , youu are capable!! & Youu did it girl ! Made it to work safe & all 🤗 I'm looking forward to following this journey w youu 😊🤗
@@JasmineIneice yesss we can Siss , you're soo welcome ! I'm anxious to see another driving video already 😂😂 because youu reminded me so much of myself. I don't like to feel like, I don't know what I'm doing while I'm driving 🤦🏾♀️😂😂
I got my liscence in hearly July, and outside of driving 30 min, to and from work I would be so scared to just get the house. So i just started forcing myself to go places I had very been before until I got more and more comfortable. I still get anxiety before i get in the car, but once I'm in I feel just fine :)
I relate to you so much with the social anxiety and driving anxiety your really encouraging me to not give up and keep going thanks so much for the video
Your videos always bring me joy. Congratulations on your passing, I'm already praying for your future customer service, you bless their lives with your knowledge and passion!
I work for the same company lol, swear it looks like you are at BOA, my old site, this video is so comforting because I am new with driving & it has been so scary sometimes, thank you for posting
i got my license in july 2021 and i literally have not gone anywhere farther than 5 minutes from my house. in drivers ed i got the best scores in my class yet im the only one who doesn't drive... i think its because i tell myself idk what im doing even though i do. i got a 98 on the written test and 93 on the driving part
I just want to say how inspiring this video is. It takes a lot of courage to face your fears. I got my license about 3 years ago when I was 18 and I can probably count on 10 fingers the amount of times I’ve driven since then. My anxiety is so bad to the point where I’ll get sweaty palms and panicky just by the thought of driving. My therapist has recommended exposure therapy so I plan on easing into it soon little by little. Even if it just means backing into and out of my driveway. I hope that you were or will be able to overcome your driving anxiety as well❤
It kind of comforting to know other people have driving anxiety too. I've been learning how to drive and I always get anxiety when I come to a four way stop because I'm afraid of getting into a crash. It's gotten so bad that I've had a dream where I hit a car. I just hope it passes over with time =/
I’m 21 and I’ve had my license for 4 years now but I rarely drive by myself bc my anxiety is sooo bad. I’m about to drive by myself to a couple stores and I’m so nervous 😬 gonna play this so I feel like I’m driving with someone else 😭
My eyesight is bad. Whenever it rains heavy I have to pull over till it stops lol. I had to get me a car with back up cameras and lane change motion signals.
I’ve just my license and first car not long after each other and I’m made it out the car place but I have really bad driving anxiety, I will try to avoid driving as much as possible 🙃when I say I have driving anxiety ppl are like “ what do you mean” and my biggest fear happened I scuffed someone car and now I’m like I don’t wanna even get in the car 😩😭😭 I’m trying but it literally makes me panic !!!!
I just came across this video, that "I should have stayed home" - girl, I felt that in my soul !!😅 great video, I have anxiety too when driving, but this helped!
im 40 just got my drivers license, still scared to go to grocery store by myself coz im not good with direction. Slowly i’m practicing.. Hoping ill get better soon.🙏🏻
when reversing just look in the mirrors or reverse camera without turning your face back putting your hand on the front seat and turning your face back
It's ok lil sis it happens to the best of us hang. In there your get better with time when you hit things sit down take a deep breath write a note with your number in name in leave don't give them too much info in write really sloppy lol for they want be able read that it that well always keep pin in paper in your car don't give them too much info until or snything they can use against you font make a claim with your insurance until they actually contact you it's there responsibility to call your insurance if they want there car fixed
I’m watching this because I literally have to drive on my own today in like an 1😭 I just got my license 4 days ago so I have to drive on my own for the first time🤧
So um as a black women my anxiety mainly is being pulled over by a racist cop and getting hurt I get behind the wheel and I can’t stop thinking of the victims and the families and I put myself in their shoes Ik you normally don’t get pulled over without doing anything illegal but for black people it seems that doesn’t always apply to us I just don’t really know how to get over it
The thought of getting pulled over by a racist cop and pulled over in general has definitely crossed my mind since I’ve started driving , and I know as a black person I don’t have to do anything wrong for those things to happen but the thought has never hindered me from wanting to learn how to drive. But I feel like no matter how good I get at driving that will always be a concern of mines.
@@JasmineIneice Exactly. It's not the wild wild west out there. The likelihood of it happening is Definitely not on my mind. Just the possibility of hurting someone or myself..or damaging another vehicle
I've had my license since i was 18 and i'm almost 22 and i think i've driven like 4 or 5 times in these past four years, it's very scary for me because i'm terrible at parking it's so confusing hahaha i know if i dont practice i will never learn but feels like literal torture for me lol
Start off driving short distances to places where the parking is easy. For me I would go super early in the morning to like a local grocery store or target because I know no one would be there and it would be easy for me to park anywhere I want.
bro freshman year ends tomorrow and next year we have to do drivers ed and then take our permit at the end of it and all of a sudden I built this fear about driving recently and it’s messing me up
Guys I'm so nervous it's bad, my insurance starts on the 29th and I'm freaking out. My instructor has said he'll give me a lesson. How do I shift this feeling 😢
I relate to you so much with the social anxiety and driving anxiety your really encouraging me to not give up and keep going thanks so much for the video
