I think they would both be SO much fun to hang out with!!! Shane seems like a regular guy- and I mean that at a huge compliment!!!! And I have to say it -Melody is do adorable and that accent gets me every time!!!!!❤
I have a very deep respect for those who process their faith in the Lord and scripture and not fearing what others would say on this channel..great for sharing..I do love scripture and Jesus is the most influential person to me...my free time I love reading scripture in Hebrew and Greek..I love the Appalachian mountains from Georgia to new Brunswick Canada..I love studying the people and history that is my passion
@@shaneandmelody it's hard it take deep devotion and discipline to read in those languages.. Hebrew is very hard..all and all it is very worth it..a while ago I attended seminary to kick off study..but I have to start reading in English
Very sorry you feel that way, faith is such an important piece of our lives so we hope you get yours restored. I envy you seeing George Strait - haven’t gotten to see him any
@@chubbawubba4287 When I start feeling a little "wobbly" in the faith department, I just keep reminding myself that "God is love. And who abides in love abides in God, and God in him/her." It's hard (for me anyway) not to believe in love. Because even though there's some very dark stuff out there, if you look, there's always love somewhere. Even if you have to create it yourself.
I’m a 100 pointer! 😂 Watched the entire video and loved learning more about y’all. Melody, I’m a sewist and a quilter. You’d be surprised at the number of quilters out here. Warning, it can be a very expensive hobby, but I love it. Join a quilt guild in your town. Quilters are great enablers and would be more than happy to teach you. Thanks again for another entertaining video! 😊💕
Thank you, Donna! I’m going to have to try to find one! That’s how I learned to crochet, was by joining a local group. I’m a little rusty on that now but I’ve just always loved quilting and wanted to learn! - Melody
Some hobby supply shops also have classes on quilting, knitting, etc. But I think it's more fun to learn from people who do it just for the pleasure of creating art and connecting with other women (and these days, men!)
Shane's musical number is an instant classic. I don't get to laugh too much these days so I really needed that. It was also nice to get to know you guys a little better. Melody is always a doll.
Dying to know if y’all are a couple? I know there is a baby, but you keep it so quiet if that baby is yours together…..I know it’s private, but your viewers will continue to love you two either way! lol….if you’re not together you probably should be! Just being a “nosy Shenandoah valley Aunt”..😂❤️
I crochet and my mom quilts! We love listening to y’all’s conversations and we both said “can Melody be a member of our family?” 😂 I always enjoy Shane’s boxing references, too!
I'm glad to hear that ur faith and family are the 2 things most important things in ur life. U both do a great job. Shane I said it before, u are a BLESSED MAN , also that the Bible ( the words of God are important to u .
A lot of fun watching this. I can't mention all the funny parts here, but Shane singing is a trip. I really appreciate that you both leave out the politics in your shows. Seems like everyone is talking about that crap and making fools of themselves for doing it. My hope is that you both continue to make these informative shows about the wonderful world of Appalachia.
Thanks Shane and Melody for letting us get to know you better! Loved the singing.!So much fun!!! Can't wait for the next chat! Much love and respect!!! 💖
Any music or movie I like have a mountain flavor. That's what attracted me to your channel. I don't have TV, but if I do watch it at someone's house, it's got to be Jerry Springer!
I enjoyed earning the 100 points…especially to hear Shane singing 🎶🎶🎶 A few things we have in common: -Love Jesus -I crochet just about every day & I want to learn quilting. -My favorite food is Italian. -I enjoy traveling and want to see more of the U.S. Keep sharing great content! 💝💝💝
Awesome video folks ! Touching on the subject of music. If you haven't checked them out yet take a listen to 49 Winchester. They are about to blow up big time. The cool part is they are from nearby Castlewood. The song Russell County Line really makes me homesick for the mountains.
Oh yes, we love the band 49 Winchester. Our Castlewood video goes by the house at 49 Winchester that they’re named for. We are really cheering for them to hit it big
Loved this! Great John Andersen, hot legs...haha.....my bad habit is eating wrong stuff, that taste so good! I enjoyed my trips to the rocky mountains of Colorado and Wyoming in the autumn...I love southern Appalachia, the beauty, the culture, the people, just everything about where I live, in southern Appalachia. My favorite food is good southern cooking, I do love the gravy, biscuits, eggs, bacon, sausage too...I hope you guys get hundreds of thousands of subscribers and views ! What gets me are these people who just sit home and tell other peoples stories and have 600 thousand subscribers and that many views, especially tragic or horror stories...crazy ....oh I like tommy lee jones, morgan Freeman, denzel...like no country for old men , the ballad of buster scruggs...haha....anyhow thanks guys ...appreciate you 2....God bless y'all 🙏❤
This was fun! Well, you asked! 1. TV show: Sitcoms from the ‘60’s: No real favorite but shows like Bewitch; Gillians Island; Gidget; Flipper, Laugh In, etc.. 2. Travel: To historical sites like Colonial Williamsburg, Va.. My favorite city: Charleston, SC 3. hobbies: anything related to hot rods, old school customs, low risers & nostalgic drag racing; fly fishing; cooking; golf (I suck @ golf) and learning the guitar. 4. bad habit: Not letting people finish their questions before I answer. 5. Passion: anything automotive up to the mid 70’s.....especially customs of the late 50’s thought the 60’s and gassers. 6. Book: It would have to be the Bible 7. hidden talent: If I told u it wouldn’t be hidden!! 8. Perfect day: Well, I’m retired so every day is a perfect day! 9. Super Power: Being true to myself & beliefs. 10. Laugh: The ridiculousness & absurdity of post-pandemic politics and social media! 11. Life influence: My parents. I’m adopted and they taught me to stand on my own, not compromise my beliefs and not follow the crowd. 12. Job: I have my dream job! I’m retired! 13. Movie: Any James Bond movie, especially from the 60’s or 70’s. Runners up: Elvis's movies; How the Grinch Stole Christmas; Nation Lampoons Christmas Vacation! 14. Concert: Jimmy Buffet in a college town back in the late 80’s. 15. 5 years: To be healthy and still have a lust for life and new experiences! 16. Food: That’s a tough one....If I had to choose just one, it would have to be grilled duck breast. 17. Favorite item: My father’s Purple Heart. I never knew he had gotten a Purple Heart. I was in my mid 50’s and was prepping my parents' house for sale post their passing. I found it in a small cigar box on the floor in the back of their closet. Also, there were other WWII artifacts and a box of letters between my parents.
So interesting about your Dad's Purple Heart. My father was of the WWII generation and it was a real thing for them NOT to talk about heroic things they had done. My Dad and his fellow vets tended not to wear "I served" type of clothing or get "Veteran" license plates and things like that. They had this attitude that you "shouldn't blow your own horn." It was a very impressive level of modesty and humility of the best kind I think.
@@kesmarn Yes, u r so correct. My dad instilled in me...'it's not what you've done but rather what you're doing that's important'. That was defiantly a special & strong generation.
@@shaneandmelody Shane we have read a lot on the Appalachians to see it at first hand is great and to see you and Melody drive in your car is very interesting (to see you drive on the wrong side of the road 🤗 ) which we love. Your roads are bad like ours? hahaha . . .... . .
I grew up in Oklahoma. With lots of farmers and Indians lots of Westerns. Farm animals and large gardens. My father is still in Oklahoma. With all his cattle and large gardens. And lives alone ..
Melody if we didn’t live on opposite sides of the country I would love to teach you sewing. I quilt some, but mostly make clothes. (I also crochet and was working on dishcloths using up scraps of yarn while watching/listening to this video.
I’ve always loved it! Even though I can’t do it haha My mom could tell you, ever since I was little I talked about wanting to and I’ve never really gotten the chance to learn. I wish we were closer! Thank you!! - Melody

@@shaneandmelody I loved blowing rock and twency I don’t remember the spelling lol. We went for a Riders in The Sky concert. Did you guys know that’s also the area the New River starts?
Guys, this was so much fun! I love Shane/John Anderson interpretations. Shane is hilarious. We need to hear Old Chunk of Coal from Shane/John Anderson. It is so hard to distinguish between the two. They sound so much alike. LOL! Maybe we could get Melody to sing some Loretta Lynn? LOL. Be sure to put my 100 points in your book!

My favorite TV shows are treasure hunting and or mysteries. The Curse of Oak Island. I love it. Hobby is working out. I try to go 4 days a week but life interrupts alot anymore. I have a 16 month old grandson and love him so much. A hobby I would like to do would be mountain climbing. I love to push myself very hard. Shane I have lost interest in sports too.
@@shaneandmelody I love the history they are finding, this year will be exciting. They are doing work under ground at the womens memorial. Dumas mining! I am an Oak Island nerd I think.😂😂
This is going to be long: Okay, I'm 35 seconds into the video and Shane is talking about answering personal questions. I never asked any because I never wanted to pry into y'all's personal life.🙂 Okay, so it's not viewer questions. I got that. Okay, I'll just keep watching now, lol. I like too many TV shows to have one favorite. 😁 Okay, since you asked us to chime in on the questions, My favorite TV shows: I can't pick one. Dukes of Hazzard, Twilight Zone (original and early 2000s remake), Addams family (original), Law & Order, Blue Bloods, and other police TV shows. Favorite places- within NJ my favorites are anywhere in Salem and Cumberland Counties. Outside NJ: New York City, and any place in the South and Appalachia. Hobbies: I love old cars, actually any kind of vehicle, not just cars. Also local history, family history, and postal history, which means collecting anything that goes through the mail, mostly old. Also postcards. Also photography. How could I forget that? I almost did. Okay, books: I collect books on New Jersey and South Jersey specifically. I collect them with the intent of reading them, but I'm bad at actually getting around to reading. I get into everything else and then don't read. I should be reading the Bible, but haven't been. I admit that. Super power: Probably invisibility. The other one would the ability to snap my fingers and be somewhere else in an instant. Movies: My favorite is "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", but really, anything Clint Eastwood. But there are several others I could list. Best concert I've ever been to: That's easy, cause I've only ever been to one. It was the Moody Blues with an orchestra. I think it was in 1993. Favorite foods: That's hard to say, but I love Italian, but I love other stuff too, like burgers and dogs, and I love breakfast, like pancakes. One time in the south I tried gravy and biscuits and loved it. My most treasured possessions: Any of my artifacts of our family history or family heirlooms, and then items I've had since childhood, like my teddy bear and a bunch of other things. Okay, that was fun. I enjoyed that.
Thanks so much for sharing your experiences. I absolutely love the Twilight Zone and The Good, the Bas and the Ugly - anything with Clint Eastwood is going to be good.
@@shaneandmelody Hey, did you ever hear of a movie called "Conrack"? It's about a man (played by John Voight) who takes a job teaching in a one-room school in a poor black community on a rural island off South Carolina. It's based on a book called "The water is wide". It's one of my favorite movies. I think you'd like it. I think it's from the early 70s.
@@shaneandmelody it sure was I also been to Paris France and Holland and Belgium because my dad served 20 yrs in the air force and got stationed in Heidelberg Germany
Quilting is a very big hobby in response to Melody's comment about being something she wants to learn. In fact there is a new quilt retreat center in Mouth of Wilson in Grayson County Virginia. This is operated by Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville Inn.
Ok so I believe that from following you guys on camera you seen to be highly compatible with each other. So the big question ❓ Are you an item or good friends?. It's okay if you say none your business! Lol 😆
@@shaneandmelody Yes! I'm not sure what causes it, but it does seem to be a pretty consistent thing! I never get tired of the original Andy Griffith episodes though. (Could I possibly be getting a little older? Nah...)
Shane check out Dr. Berry BBBE challenge. I did this and still do to this day. I lost 90lbs and feel great. Also, for Melody... Shane doesn't sing a lot he is just reciting lyrics in a rhythmic voice. 🤣
@@shaneandmelody Awesome, If you decide you want to give it a go... and you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I was overweight for 30 yrs. I reversed type 2 diabetes and gout. I can show you in the Bible how I lost the rest of the weight. Because the BBBE is half of the solution in my opinion. The other half is what Jesus told us to do. Love ya both.
Hey guys. Where did y'all eat in Memphis? I live an hour south of Memphis and I'm there often. You're right. There are some awesome eating places there. And....You're right. Yeah, I'm pretty sure you guys could stand some counseling. I'll tell you my dark secret: I'm actually a lesbian trapped in a mans body, but don't tell nobody. 😀
Ugh I hate sitcoms. It's basically just a bunch of corny one-liners. One of the worst is the golden girls. Whoever was the writer for that show was a sick pervert. Just for fun one time I wrote down how long the show would run without a sick sequel innuendo or something referring to sex and the average was 40 seconds. The ENTIRE show was underhanded jokes and references to Blanche and sex. Anyone who told me they liked that show I would question lol.
@@shaneandmelody just like with music, many people don't pay attention to the words in sitcoms, it's the actors the like. Trust me, those were 4 dirty old women! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
