Felix surprises Rowan with a small early Christmas present and we take a good look at the fascinating multi-gauged DAVA picks.
Some players in a forum told us we had to check these picks out so we did! Let us know what you think of them, are they your main pick?

We ended up with mixed feelings about the Dava picks and they have not ended up living in our pockets. What about you guys? Anyone use the Dava picks as their main picks?

Yes yes I do. : ) Just if you want the ability 2 go into outright intensity when you have to then these r the picks. I ve tried some of the others but my main pick has been for years the standard green rock nylon, the ability of this pick has never failed me never once and is always surprisingly flexible. : ) I do not mind if not everyone uses them cause it’s like my little secret and I prefer to keep it that way. : )

@@Burnt_Gerbil Yeah I have tried Jazzs kind of picks and too small really for me, you can't pick hard, at least I can't, Eric Johnson has no complaints, so is interesting, I always keep trying cause they r subtle, yeah. Well I got a pack of grip tips and have remained unimpressed, even the yellow nylons, am still trying but nylon is not powerful enough surprisingly, delrin is too hard, no flex, the other see through material (gels /rocksolid) is no bend as far as I can trace, and so I would very much be willing to give the dava jazz grips a shot. : )

I saw rare pack of dava celluloid picks, oh don't mind me am just burning down the house, they should be great, have black plastic and celluloid tips r welded on, I am hopeful it could be decent. : )

@@Burnt_Gerbil That is interesting, I may do that. If they are heavy when you hold closer to tip I would consider, am not immune to picks, am always trying to find interesting kinds that can lead into new areas of playing, and can be different picks for different applications. I usually use Dava Green Nylon Rock Control, have good flex and subtley and intensity, the rock control delrin is fine for acoustic and other times. I even have the rock control with the metal tip, is interesting, especially on acoustic, unfortunately not as intense as I would have liked although the company said to sharpen the tip, in any case since am looking for miracle pick would be trying the jazz, maybe with rubber grip too you can really dig in while getting subtleties and control. : )

Nice review, guys. I regularly play in a swing jazz duo and the Delrin jazz grips actually give me a superb balance for comping and soloing. The low friction of the Delrin feels especially good against the strings and I find they have a nice flexibility when hitting chords.

Nice full range review. Thanks! I love the sound of Poly Gels as Grip Tip on acoustic. Warm but still clear and defined. The "multi gauge" really gives a larger spectrum of tone. But they tend to break on me, when I strum it too hard. On electric I use the Poly Gels as Jazz Grips. They do remain stiff, but due to the rubberized grip area, I can achieve different tones by holding them tighter or looser without ever dropping them. I love them both for what they are and keep recommending and gifting them to others, because they made a huge difference for my pick control, my playing and control of tone. They are not only my main picks, but are now the only picks I use.

Wow that is great dude, I be careful sacrificing my davas on the acoustic because it wears down the tip like you said, am only going to use mainly on electric unless I have unused spares they can go to acoustic, preferably Delrin tip composite picks. [:] 0

Yes is multi gauge, multi flex [:] 0 The key is finding out which ones work for you, and if they do you keep on using them [:] 0

I found a red jazz grip laying on the street years ago. Love the smaller size and the soft sound.

Dava should put this video on their website, they do need more information on the picks.

I've been using Delrin Jazz Grip and I love them, I would love to try the Poly Gel Jazz Grips and hear the Difference.

Well I have used the standard non-grip polygels n while they look great n shiny (they r see through too), the sound leaves a lot to be desired, is clumpy and unsatisfactory not smooth like the nylons. They r not reviewed here but am always curious to try them though cause they look so good. [:] 0

I like the Dava picks because of the grip, but they are a bit too pointy for me. I tried some picks from Zenfire because they have a dedicated non slip grip. These things rock. My tone has not been better.

what amp are you using and the settings for them during this pick review?

Delrin is a hard low friction plastic. I prefer Tortex, with the Flow design. Would be interesting trying a Dava Grip Tip made with Tortex.

I read that Tortex is the same thing as delrin?
