A few more projects are also getting done around the home just in time for winter. In this episode I will also be showing you my old smoking oven and the new one that was delivered just in time for making dried orange slices and other holiday item for around the home..

Linda: You can do anything! I am impressed with your woodworking skills. You are one talented lady and I so enjoy your videos. I just cannot wait to see what your home will look like in by the time you are done. 20 people for Thanksgiving? That is nothing for you. I have noticed that our grocery store does not have some of the items I usually purchase for Thanksgiving, so I went to Amazon to buy some things I could not find.

My hubby and I bought 35 acres in very rural area (entire village population was 182, counting us lol!) We paid on land for 15 years...then decided to build a home there. Our first day moved in, I was so excited because all new appliances arrived, so I could FINALLY make our first night's dinner in new home. HAD entire meal all prepared when, wind started kicking up outside, sky got dark, lights flickered...a town siren began to wail! Yep, tornado alert....we hussled down to basement...with a bag of chips and a flashlight. A huge tree fell right next to our new home, its top point of branches knocking off a shutter. The power was off...FOR A WEEK. SO...meat cooked over portable barbecue...foil packets of potatoes and veggies...water in jugs and bottles. Yep...your oven trouble was annoying and expensive....but luckily, you got to use your brand new oven! I just polished my appliances, looked longingly at them...and had to wait a week until countywide electric co-op...got electric going again! lol!

Well I think we ARE kindred spirits! If no other reason than I too LOVE old grainy episodes of Martha Stewart Living, filmed in her Turkey Hill kitchen and gardens. When I was 15, we got our first satellite dish (as opposed to the aerial antenna before) and watching her on satellite tv began my love of all things domestic at that young age. 55 and never lost it. Hence me watching YOUR channel now! 😊 We too had the SAME issue with mouse deposits of dog food only it was my dryer. The repairman said he didn’t know why we hadn’t had a fire when he saw the damage. 🙏

That door is SO LUCKY you found it!! We have two of these on our 1879 Victorian, one of them I rescued off the side of the road to replace a missing one (because people are insane and throw things like that out!!) Luckily previous owners protected the beautiful stain on ours with marine varnish. Must be a northeastern thing (we’re in western NY state) my hubby who grew up in the SW had never seen one. They really help with heat retention and are beautiful to hang a wreath on. Gorgeous video as always 🌾🌲🍂. Edit: lol that orange paint!!! 😂

Is that a downdraft ventilation system? Our kitchen, in a 1920s mountain home, cannot accommodate ducting other than a downdraft system which isn't ideal according to what I've been reading. But you can only work within what is possible. I have discovered lately a ductless/ventless system that uses new technology, so will be looking into that before I make a decision on a new range. Love your videos! Always soothing and fun especially for someone who lives on the west coast and has always wanted to visit New England in the fall. 🙏🍁💖

Oh, I'm sorry if it sounded as if I didn't know. We were told the oven had issues and I was hoping it would last until the remodel. We only had use of the small oven and I thought cleaning out the dog food would stop the burning smell. There was no way the previous owner knew about the food stash since it was tucked behind the oven working, but near the flames. She did mention a fan did not work, but I thought she meant the convection fan, which did work.

Oh I just love your cow neighbors! I’ve read they love to be pet and scratched behind their ears. Have you tried that yet? What a little side bonus to an already magnificent home and property!

Linda, I am glad you're such a "hands on person" as I am too. Even at age 70, I love projects and have no desire to give them over to anyone else, unless it's something I'm not truly able to do. There's something so very satisfying about it. However, we just spent three days removing very difficult wallpaper from a bathroom... next time I WILL call a professional! I know when I'm licked! Whew!

I hear you! My husband keeps asking me to hire a painter for our rooms, but I have a hard time doing that. I might have to soon though with my shoulder getting worse by the day and surgery booked for January.

I cannot help thinking that "the universe" has guided you to Sugarwood. It began when you "found" your forever home...or it "found" you. How interesting, to awaken one morning...to discover an "open door" in a field.... like a past and future portal. Then next, you "find an original door...including the fragile glass"....and you having a strong yearning to "fix the door". Lastly, YOU noticing how Sugarwood door is exactly like the magazine cover's door from years ago. So many aligning "coincidences"....all connecting to YOU..I see these as "universal alignments". Years ago YOU visualized and created your"dream door" catalog cover shoot. The timing of your taking posession of Sugarwood ...and the placement of physical door opened in a field as a symbol of a portal opened between past and present times. And now... a restored historical front door.... will link Sugarwood to its past and yet opens daily to its future too....Wow! ...And it all occurred during all Hollows' time! ! I wouldnt be surprised if you discover an ancestorial link to Sugarwood!

so very true! A lot of things in this house remind me of things I thought of clearly. There are a few things it does not have and I need to stop thinking about those, like a beautiful stairway to decorate that goes upstairs.

@@newenglandfineliving I know, I am going to one floor living soon...and I love my current 6 bedroom, 3 floors colonial....but it is just a "new chapter" in the evolving story of our lives. You could still do evergreen swags...by putting it draping in a long or wide hall...at ceiling level. I bet clear thumbtacks or stick-on command hooks would hold it up. Just an idea...

Gorgeous view from your "new" storm door, that sunlight in the entry hall is bright and warm. The urns turned out so nice and I love the natural decor you used. I've wondered if you could use glycerin to preserve the fall leaves? I love the dried oranges; I would like to try this. Your home is a dream. You're so fortunate to have all that nature around you to gather from. Love it!

You do such creative things and not afraid to take on a variety of project's and they work out ..how cool is that.! I also said OMG to the door story. I do believe that the house was calling you to come home . Chills 💗

That photo of the storm door on the cover of your binder is exactly how I manifest things. It's a sort of vision board which works well for me and on it, I place many pictures of things I want. Once manifested, I remove the picture, place in a "Thank you" enveloppe stapled on the back of my vision board . Voilà !

Wait! I love the idea of the thank you envelope! I have notes everyone on old journals of each time things have come to fruition, but to save them together like that is such a great idea Suzie! Kudos!
