✴️ Getting rid of Bing in Windows 10 search is difficult, but not impossible. We can't change the search engine used by Windows Search when searching the web, but we can avoid Bing by not trying to search the web at all.
You can remove all web search results by adding a key value to the Windows registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\DisableSearchBoxSuggestions set to a DWORD 32 value of 1. Be sure to back up the registry using System Restore before you make changes.

Hello leo. You explained it well. In Windows 10 of my laptop I followed some videos to disable Cortana you perhaps know why. Now search does not work. I watched and followed several videos on youtube but none of them solved the problem.Do you have a video to solve that issue?

Also, I want to change back to being able to highlight a term online and choose my "chosen" default search engine from the pop-up options, instead of Bing (I used to have Google search listed, but the last update this past week screwed that up too...).

That depends on what browser you're using, but I just successfully searched using that technique in both Edge and Chrome and got my results in Google. I note Edge has TWO search options, one that is explicitly Bing, and the other generic search.

rebooted and Bing is still there, went back and checked path and it is done according to your instructions, copy n paste DisableSearchBoxSuggestions change value to 1 no luck I HATE BING

The answer to both is: you can't. Microsoft has elected to hardwire that. So, don't use Windows search for online searching, but instead fire up your browser of choice and use your search engine of choice.

I have Windows 10 still (no plans to go to Windows 11) and I followed your instructions exactly and guess what? I STILL have that freaking Bing! So, thinking that I maybe did something wrong I downloaded your file and ran it. Same results. So how do I get rid of that f***ing Big Search?

Leo, I did this and yes it removes bing from the search window below. But, when I go into chrome and do a search it comes back every time as bing, and I do not want Bing! Please help me

Sounds like you need to change the search setting within Chrome. Check its settings.

Thank you for this. I've never understood why windows does this. if I mistroke a file path in the explorer it opens bing... Im trying to search my hardrive. Its so random and unnecessary. It might as well open the calculator. And why if im searching my system/hard drive do I need to go on the internet? Do people really search the internet by opening the Start window?! I'm a working professional and when I want to go on the internet, I open a web browser app.

People, in general, do all sorts of things we would not expect. And they stick to it if it solves their problem, no matter how counter-intuitive it might seem.

Bing means many things so I'd have ot know exactly what aspect of it you want re-enabled. If nothing else, watch the video to see all the different settings to turn it off in different places, and undo them.

I found a spyware removal tool to do it. I had a bing redirect on my browser. It could not be turned off

I hacked Bing out of my system sometime ago, however, depending on the type up-date...it will resurface...not to worry though, with minimal clicks, its gone again...😜

It was one the better Videos i have watch could understand your English, however it did not work. I had to revert back to and 2.5 year old laptop because i need to send my new one in for power repair, (not important info) i bought a window 10 in both tops and upgrade to 11. could that me a reason it did not work. Like i said i followed you steps and when i search for coffee got the garbage again. Never-the-less it did not work. I am going report again. and hope for the best. Hope you respond soon. John

Not just bing. Chrome and google are just as bad or worsre. Used to be in the early 90s i could go on the net and find anything i wanted. Not anymore. Now i have to fuck around seven ways to sunday to find what I'm looking for. What a fucking crock of shit the net has become. Set the value to zero. Don't reboot. Go to linux and save your own private life. What a crock.
