Similar experience here. We didn't expect much since it looked rather simplistic, but it ended up being a really cool ocean trip, and also not without challenges. We really enjoyed it.
Thank you! And yes, once a recipe is known you can trash the blueprint, they serve no purpose. Probably a remnant of a previous game mechanic where blueprints worked differently.
It's a very hands-off approach with no clear written objectives. You'll occasionally find notes that give you hints, but for the large part it's exploring and reading environmental clues. Like signposts, or a broken device that needs repairing... so it's a lot more about you finding out what to do. The overall main objective (in addition to unlocking new blueprints) is always to find the code for the next story island.
Not a beginner guide. Doesn't explain anything going on when the game starts. There is a raft made of 4 foundations. But it seems to be moving. IDK why. There's no explanation what is moving. And how the world works. Why it keeps moving. And where all the debris is. What happens if you steer it away from all that debris? No info on the starting circumstance and objective of the story other than just survive on a moving raft. Users do not buy the game because the assumption is there is nothing other than floating aimlessly and building up your raft.
