Your videos are so helpful. For whatever reason, out of all the other videos I have been watching yours helps me understand what's actually going on, and the capabilities and uses a lot better. Thanks!

I am getting RICH with knowledge watching this guy. He's so very good, and these videos he posted are in my honest opinion required viewing. I have only watched a fraction of his offerings and already solved most of my design issues. I mostly model for 3d-printing, but also use it for home projects. And he covers WOOD PROJECTS also! Another of my interests! The layout of his videos are great, easy to follow, and pleasant to the ears. Subscribing to his channel has been one of the best finds for me for 2024. This and another series on Python Scripting Fusion 360. Thank you sir, I sincerely appreciate the effort and you sharing your vast knowledge!! I hope to see a LOT more videos soon. I'm a fan! {LIKED=TRUE}

I'm trying to follow along here, but keep running into things you haven't covered yet. So I'm trying to do the Sweep function as shown in your second example (the "picture frame" one). I've drawn a profile on the xz plane, and a path on the xy plane. But Fusion is not letting me select the shape I want to use as my profile. It would help these videos a lot if you did them with a mind toward people following along as you go, and try to anticipate problems that might come up. So "If you're trying to select your Profile and Fusion wont select it, you might need to ____." Because right now I'm just stuck trying to guess why it won't work.

amazing series. just what I needed. thank you, great job! Gonna be binge watching the rest. excited to learn 360. I have been using blender for a few years but now feel the need to "start over" and learn to use 360 for more 3d printing and cad design.

Hey Justin, hope you’re doing wel irl. Thanks for all the tutorials! I’ve learned so much from your tutorials alone, I’m almost fluent in modeling in Fusion 360. Much appreciated for the time you put into these videos.

Thank you so much for these tutorials, I’m learning so much from you. Please could you do a more detailed tutorial on the revolve tool. I’m struggling so much with this tool, particularly helping me with both the profile and axis. It’s only allowing me to revolve around the centre axis and not itself!

Hi Justin many thanks for the great channel. I am currently on a very steep learning curve with fusion 360, I previously learnt Sketchup using The Sketchup Essentials. I have a design job I'm working on that has a particular complication, I scoured RU-vid and can't find any examples which deal with this, or a similar issue, so I figure it may be of interest to you and other subscribers. I'm about to build a small structure designed by an architect which has a conical roof. Think of a silo roof, however this one does not extend up all the way to a point but is cut off at a lower level, so imagine cutting off the top of the cone leaving the bottom quarter. Now a silo roof generally has a reasonably steep pitch but this roof has a very shallow pitch so we now depress the "upper" part of the cone down to produce a very flat cone segment. So far it's all simple enough to do in Fusion. So here's the complication, I want to construct it using tapered flat segments of plywood. So they have to taper by the right amount and the edges have to be cut at the correct angle so they abut neatly. In addition to this on the lower side I want the two adjacent plywood panels to join with a V joint chamfer. I have considered creating a circle representing the bottom edge, making individual segment and using the pattern tool, however this will not automatically give the neatly abutting segments with the correct angle or the joint. Any thoughts?

HI, I'm going through your tutorials in order (so far) and this third one builds on Sketch from the second one. But, if I try to replicate what you are doing on the screen here (which is how I usually learn), I need to know how to make curvilinear shapes. I'm experimenting, but having trouble figuring out how to control which direction the curve goes, and other important details. It would really help to either stick to shapes you can make with what you covered in the previous one, or expand the Sketch Tool section of the previous one to include how to make that curvilinear form. Thanks!

Justin, just found you. New Sub. I am new to Fusion 360. I find your teaching style to be easy to follow and comprehensive. One issue I am having is with entering a dimension after placing and pulling out a circle. While the diameter field is still blue I enter the wanted diameter and press Tab or Enter. The circle is drawn at whatever the diameter is that it was pulled out to. I have to go in and edit every dimension that I want. This is driving me crazy! I have done a search for this anomaly with no luck. I hope you can help. Mark

Hi, could you explain in more detail how you got the PATH function set up on sketch s,or if you have it on another video,i finally got it, but im not sure if i did it right, so is it you have to have the Profile on its own sketch on a Different axes than the PATH and near the Path ? Thanks

@TheFusionEssentials Great video, one question tho, so I made a word in 3D, I'd like to have it hollowed out but with the exact same values on all sides on the inside, how do I do this? Hope my question is asked the right way since English isn't my first language. And if possible to have a background on the letters, a very thin background, so it's hollowed out but still you can't see through, because I wan't to fill it with something else. (Trying to make a LED letter sign).

I cannot figure out how your making sketches on different Z heights, anyvids where you touch on that process?
@noweare1
@noweare1 2 года назад
create sketch, make circle, finish sketch, click on circle, right-click choose offset plane, enter distance to new plane from original. then click on that plane and create sketch, draw a circle then finish sketch. You will see that the circles are at different heights. You can also make a circle in sketch plane then use move tool and check copy and enter in the distance. This way you do not have to exit sketch mode.

I want to make a tapered cylinder. I know this can be done by creating two thin discs centered along an axis, then using the loft tool to join the space between them. Is there a way to do it using the cylinder tool and tapering while extruding?
@TheFusionEssentials
@TheFusionEssentials 4 года назад
You could create a cylinder, then select one end and scale it down?
@lenslover
@lenslover 4 года назад
After my post, I discovered that you could sketch a circle, then extrude it with a taper angle. Of course, you would have to use trigonometry to calculate the angle of taper and know the distance to extrude.

I am trying to use the sweep tool to create a shaped bar. The cross section is 30mm x 5 mm and the path is a simple L shape. However when I select the shape and the path I see the OK box in the sweep pull down menu is still grayed out so i can't complete the command - anyone any ideas as to what may be wrong ?

in 4.52 of video where you talk about how to make that; I'm sure I missed how to make that drawing. so I created a circle; that becomes profile, then the line drawing and when I selected the circle as profile, it didn't work. must have missed something. not sure how to rotate circle to make this; so it's at the right angle. the error I get is the path is tangent to the profile, try adjusting path or rotating the profile, I was like ?

So...so many issues with this damn loft along a rail. "Your profiles can't be coplanar"...wtf, why not if it's going to follow a rail?! "Your rail doesn't intersect with your profiles"...wtf the rail runs right through the middle of both? Make it touch the edges of both, nope. Make it outside of both, nope. Try to delete any of it to adjust, nope you can't delete anything while you're inside a sketch (and most of the time out of a sketch). Is Fusion360 really this much of a steaming load of crap that it appears to be? I draw a thing...why can't I just select the damn thing and hit the Delete key? Nothing happens...it just unselects the thing. These tutorials need to start from a COMPLETELY EMPTY design to have a chance in hell of understanding how to get to the point where you can even try to use the loft tool or whatever.
