My favourite kinds of podcasts are ones that are just friends having a conversation. No script, no formality, just friends having a good time together.
Are there scripted podcasts? I mean I've seen plenty that have a list of talking points, but they're not really scripted. I feel like it's not a podcast of it's scripted lol
@@cadrenadams9109 There are a ton of scripted podcasts. Most educational podcasts are quite scripted as well as basically all solo podcasts. There are also storytelling podcasts. The Magnus Archives is the most popular example, but there are many. There are also *moderately* scripted podcasts like "Escape this Podcast" where the general plot has been laid out, but the players will do things in certain unpredictable ways.
Definitely. Plus, messenger of water feels like his role as the Reddit story reader. He is a redditor and he isn’t, he tells the stories as an actor and he analyzes them as a psychologist. He’s found a way to live in both worlds and find success. I really feel like his cards tell the story of his career. He followed the wisps and became an actor even though it’s a dangerous path that very few people are successful at. He has let his career be different, freely moving between movies, tv, and RU-vid, so few actors will do all of that, they feel like RU-vid will kill their acting career. But Shayne doesn’t let anyone put him in a box. He is both the tame dog (maybe a 17 year old bichon-frise? 😂) and the chosen wolf. He’s followed an unexpected path but it has made him a fascinating person and a successful one. Anyways, I love it.
@GeorgeTalvan she's just having a good time with her friends, podcasts don't have to be relaxing and chill especially this one it has never been relaxing or chill. Not their problem you listen at night
aww jackie praising her friends at the end like she isn't one of the most talented people on the team as well. love her and her reactions to all of this
Right! I missed this episode until now and forgot they didn't have the name for the pod until a few episodes in when Jackie gave them the idea on accident -- thought they were just doing a bit at first until I remembered that lol
@@TM.BECK14 according to a later episode, she’s not the one that came up with it. she just threw it out there in an actual video. i think they say it on episode 15
I love how Shayne's cards can be distinctively linked to some of his characters. The dumpster wizard, the chosen and himself, as an actor and all the pathos that it carries - which certainly Amanda and Jackie can relate to.
I'm kinda like Shayne when it comes to stuff like this. I don't necessarily believe in it but I'm open for the possibility of supernatural stuff existing. And I'm also super interested in it, 'cause I'm a huge fantasy, myths and folklore nerd.
I'm suprised Shayne never brought up the fact he drowned as a baby; I was waiting for that to come up, especially as they were all fascinated over his "theme of water" among his cards
Maybe something he's not ready to confront, you can tell this touched him but he's not really "spiritual" per se so he probably didn't/wouldn't read into it that way
Amanda’s cards were so cool to me. I’m surprised no one noticed that the lady in a red dress from her past card on her future card, there is bodies of water in all three. And her present card showing her as a fish ends up disappearing in her future card. A handful of different animals stand there but no fish. So interesting to me.
Also, the lady in red looks older, wiser, slightly off-centred, and blended in the harmony of others in the future card, compared to her youthful, centred appearance, which was so cool to me!
Shaynes past card was literally about him drowning in his pool in the swampy state of Florida, being led to the lights, and then not getting permission to die and being brought back to life😂
Whether you believe in this or not, you can not deny the cohesiveness of all 3 of their pulls. They were all VERY beginning, middle, and end. Shaynes really impressed me because even his pictures (starting with a swamp, to a lake, and then to the open ocean) told a story of rebirth in a way. Of letting go, finding your path, and then flourishing in it. It was truly an awesome deck, Amanda! Great job leading the reads! Now I have to convince my hubby to buy me one since I can't get it myself haha
Amanda is the only person I know that feels the same way about Tarot as me. I don’t necessarily believe that a higher power is guiding my hand to a specific card, but it’s just bringing my thoughts to light so that I can better understand them and my environment around me.
And yet hers is the least watched ep. Which makes me so livid. Cause the numbers will be the end all be all with how much they have her on. Mych like the friday smosh games channel. But ill watch anytime she shows up. ❤
I loved all of this. First, excited to learn more about Amanda. But I HAVE to say, Jackies energy for Shaynes pulls put me in mind of those third party compilations of "Jackie & Shayne being best friends" vids. She's SO intensely excited for his pulls, almost above her own.
everyone talking about shayne's pull. but amanda literally pulled jackie as being in her past, and an unexpected change in her present, and jackie left smosh 2 months later.
amanda did an excellent job!! sometimes readings can seem kinda reach-y or arbitrary but all 3 readings had clear themes and connections with the pulled cards which was pretty cool!
Did anyone else pick up on the last card in shaynes reading being a SHAPESHIFTER!! A literal being of change?!?! Like after following this path he will become a being of transformation
@@brittanymartinez8276I literally thought the same thing!!! He specifically wanted to be a Druid to shapeshift cause he loves animals and he saw the new Transformers movie and thought of Fernie. My boi must be craving change right now
Yeah exactly and tarot cards can be super personal to the reader/the individual themselves aswell, so there's not really a "wrong" way to read them, as long as they help you reflect/get insight. Love every new podcast episode ❤
Also bigly skeptical. But I couldn't help but notice in Shayne's pulls how the cards seemed to be a pull about the podcast itself. Shayne is moving in to take charge of this renewed show, different from the Smoshcast of old. He's one of two (with Amanda) wolves learning the organic and produced nature of the podcast and where it will lead. And I hope his final card reflects how impowered he can feel about it; free to lead, inspire, and create.
I know this is a pretty thoughtful observation but I just had to laugh because I pictured Shayne and Amanda as the 'two wolves inside of you' meme and I can't stop chuckling at it 😂
Lol, this would actually help fill out the Chosen's backstory a lot more!! But they seem to have stopped doing a lot of Chosen stuff. I think they're just tired of it now.
@@youyeedyourlasthaw They had entire videos dedicated to characters like the Chosen, Sarah Christ, the LaMace Family, etc. Now they're more of "guest stars" in other pit/concept videos such as the Funerals. It's not a bad thing, it's just a shift in style of videos to do more "game shows" and fewer dedicated sketches. The good thing about the non-sketch videos is that they're still funny, and also involve a larger number of cast+crew members, which is always fun to watch.
I'm not hard of hearing, but I gotta give a HUGE thumbs up for posting with captions available immediately. I use captions to make sure I'm hearing what I thought I was while I'm doing loud stuff like dishes, and I'm sure it's helpful for people who need them, so I wanted to say thanks!
@@BenAstridge but some videos on other channels come out without captions, and don't have then for several hours or days afterwards, which means that automated option can be turned on or off in favour of manmade captions, so I appreciate that they don't make people wait for captions that's all :)
@@BenAstridgeMany videos have auto generated captions but some channels take the time to upload manually created ones -- luckily this video has the latter (which is great because they're always more accurate)
I think this is my favourite episode so far. It’s amazing to see Amanda bringing a passion of hers to the table and having people be completely open to discovering it and going on a journey with her. Jackie is a great guest, and I loved how everyone’s reading had a clear thread. Super cool. Love this podcast!
this episode really cemented why i love smosh. it’s such a gift that these people can balance sincerity and silliness so effortlessly. not everyone has that ability, but this cast consistently has an openness that i really admire.
It’s so interesting to watch Jackie’s pull after the announcement that she’s leaving. So bummed but so fkn happy for her. The universe is holding her hand
Everything is connected and the more you realize the more signs and synchronicities will be shown to you 🤍 to the point where every breath is in sync with the universe. I love smosh getting here! ✨
I missed SmoshCast for so long! Have been listening to old episodes over and over, but you know. I needed new episodes. They get me going, when having to do daily tasks. I have adhd (adult diagnosed) and have a hard time focus on house tasks. But this is my jam! I dont have to sit down and look at it, to follow along and no other podcast has really stuck with me before SmoshCast. Thank you so much (from this mom living alone with two kids, with a lot of house tasks), for bringing it back! 🎉
I love this! I really resonated with when Shayne said, "when I'm afraid of something, then I know I have to do it." I'm about to do RU-vid full time. I'm so excited because I've been craving this change in my life, but I keep wavering because I'm scared about what could go wrong. That said, I've literally been telling myself that exact same thing. If I'm fearful, I know that I have to do it. Thanks Amanda for doing these readings!
Omg this was so fun to watch! I also didn’t know this about Amanda so it’s cool to learn more about her. The tarot deck was beautiful and the writing was great too. Jackie was the perfect guest for this; her reactions and energy were much appreciated! Also the Priestess absolutely looks like Jackie! Cool that everyone’s readings felt very cohesive. Also with Shayne’s cards progressively going more into the water, I couldn’t help but think about the stories of him having almost drowned haha 😅
As a tarot reader, I'm delighted by this episode! Thank you for discussing the topic with respect and open minds. Also, Amanda, it's totally fine if you buy your own deck(s). The only reason you might want to limit yourself to using decks gifted to you is to avoid the temptation to become a deck collector/hoarder/dragon!
I bought my own deck about 3 months ago. I had a friend who actually told me she heard you're not supposed to buy your own and I told her that I really wanted one, kind of hoping that maybe she might get me one for my birthday or tell my husband that I wanted one, but nothing happened. So fast forward to a year an a half later I told my husband that I really wanted a tarot deck but I'd been told that you're not supposed buy your own and he didn't buy me one. So I spent about 3 years one before I finally broke down and bought my own.
I ordered the same deck that a friend used to read for me and the package came open and empty! Not sure what that meant lol but I decided not to reorder that one.
I randomly bought a pack of tarot cards online and it came with a box and a little booklet with all the meanings of the cards. While I was greatly interested at the time, it quickly was met with disappointment when I realized I had no one else to read with or connect with since most people in my class find it silly or straight up dumb. That and the fact that I barely had any time, my interest quickly faded. This video literally made me pull out my cards after months of not using them and the readings were scarily accurate (for the past and present anyway)
Just saying that having you guys' voices in the background helps me calm down during my panic attacks. Thank you for all you do, y'all are one of my best comfort groups and the Smoshcast being back is just wonderful.
Takes me back to the video of Shayne and Courtney getting a rune reading. I'm a huge skeptic, but I can see the advantages to doing something like this, if only for self reflection
I loved this trio for this exercise. Amanda's magic, Jackie's hype, and Shayne's humor were all complimentary, and even though they came in with different perspective on the activity, it was done in a voluntary and participating way. My takeaway from this is that tarot reading is a way to introspect through inspiring words and images, and internalizing it in whichever way feels the most right. It's as real and impactful as you want it to be. Very fun episode! ✨✨✨
I want to see Amanda do tarot for other cast members who are comfortable with it. She has such loving energy and Jackie has to be there too because she makes it even more fun!❤❤❤
Such a great episode to have Jackie on!!💕 Thank you for sharing this size of you with the podcast Amanda & thank you to Jackie & Shayne for being so open & funny!!
I’m so happy they’re talking about tarot and not in a negative light! I’m 18 and I’ve been pulling tarot for around 2 years but most of the people my age that I have told view tarot as silly and stupid even if I tell them it is important to me and I hope they can respect that.
Jackie's crows and hedgehog fit in so well. Crows usually represent transformation and change, especially emotional change and help to adapt as needed. As for the hedgehog it's associated with self protection/self work as to finding your true purpose and overcoming the challenges that come with that.
I was waiting for this comment. I keep looking to find out more about Jackie from the readings, and im glad you're here. Thank. Like we didn't even look into the crows, i was slighted with jackies meanings for her cards
I feel like Shayne has a busy and analytical type of mind that also loves to joke A LOT and Amanda is like the simplest, shining bright, and sometimes abstract mind, which they're like on the two different sides of a coin. Which is interesting because when Amanda takes the lead, Shayne becomes just all full joker, but when Shayne took the lead, Amanda can't keep up how deep Shayne's mind can dive into a topic, because her mind loves to stay, taking cares of things, and lets it abstract. Shayne is like a root of a plant with so many "branches" and can go really really deep, sharp, but also firing ideas here and there. Two beautiful minds, definitely. And that's the meaning of three cards I just pulled for these guys lol
I LOOOOOOVE this episode!! As a reader myself, let me just say, Amanda that you are seriously just the coolest! Regarding buying our own decks - I say do whatever, man. I have over 30 tarot decks (not including oracle and other divination tools) and only two were gifts. It ended up that I gave those two away because a) I didn't connect with them and b) one of the decks was given to me by a shady POS. The decks you purchase are more often than not the ones that you actually do connect with. Money exchange is a form of energy exchange.
I love how all of Shayne's pulled cards related to create characters he did. First card: talks about weary travelers where no one returns (dumpster wizard) Second card: wolves raging a battle with the moon in the background (Chosen) Third card: a messenger of everything ever done (I was there man).
Tarot is just another form of therapeutic practice. It’s like Amanda said, it points out to you things in a different perspective you’ve never considered or thought of. It’s based off science and folklore and the fantastical. It’s just so fun to do ❤️
For everyone who is skeptical about tarot, I encourage you to try it. Something that is often said in tarot is “claim what resonates and leave what doesn’t,” which is one of the things I think make it a great tool for self reflection. Rather than thinking tarot will predict your future, it’s better to approach it as reflecting on your future and identifying your wants, purpose, and growth, you want for yourself. It can also be a really great way to reflect and work through things that happened in the past that you don’t have closure on.
It’s amazing how all of Shane’s cards pulled have water in common, he’s been connected with water since he was a child. Like he literally drowned, that is CRAZY!
I do believe that Tarot is just a fun thing that helps people with introspection. HOWEVER, I once pulled for myself the week before I got top surgery. _All five cards_ pointed towards a major positive change that would be happening soon - I specifically remember pulling the upright Tower* as the “present” card. It was honestly kinda freaky. * The upright Tower does not always represent tragedy or destruction. Depending on the surrounding cards, it can also represent surpassing difficulty and rebirth.
If people didn't understand the difference between Skeptic and Cynic. Skeptics are positive, open-minded, challenge the negative factors, and can change their minds; cynics are negative, close-minded, obsessed with negatives, and "stuck. It's a lot easier to be a cynic; it takes work and critical thinking to be a good skeptic (thus the phrase, "healthy skepticism.")
@@oabh1808 Was this rant directed at me? If it was, I'm not convinced of any super natural claim, since there isn't any evidence to support them. Same goes for Tarot readings.
i know it probably wasn't much of a hassle to record but tarot card readings was a super interesting listen to while working. plz do more with more people who might be interested in getting a reading around the office. You guys did an amazing job with the descriptions!
