An interesting fact about this item is that if you encounter Bowser on his board while wearing the Bowser suit, he won't give you any punishment. Instead, he gifts you 50 coins.

Interesting note, on Koopa’s board, when wearing a Bowser suit when going to a Ukiki, you won’t slip on the banana, will get some rare dialogue and be allowed to choose your direction

I played the living hell out of this game back in the day and I think, in all that time, I only ever got the Bowser suit once. And then I rolled, like, a two with no one in front of me.

Thanks for showing that off! I've owned this game for 12 years, and I've never seen the Bowser Suit be used. For several years, I didn't know it even existed in MP4 until on TRG when the AI got it towards the end of one of the boards.

I remember this happened to me in grade 3 playing as Daisy. Playing with my cousin, her and I were completely stunned . Now being an adult and seeing how rare it is made the childhood memory I had of being so innocent and just having fun with no cares come back full force. Damn, I could cry LOL

Oooh, interesting idea for a series! Could you show off the rarely seen Bowser events (everybody wins at a Bowser minigame, meeting Bowser with no coins or stars, or no coins and at least 1 star, etc) from Mario Party 1? There was a video showcasing them all a long time ago, but I think it got removed from RU-vid. If possible, could you also show a game being decided by dice roll, due to two or more players having the exact same amount of coins and stars at the end of a board?

Sounds like it isn't explicitly based on WHEN you hit it. It seems like the dice is the only thing going through the RNG sequence. This means that depending on when you hit the block, the RNG sequence will be different, which in turn, causes the random event chosen to be different. When you reload the save state, it also resets the RNG sequence to its state at that time, so it will produce the same series of random numbers every time.

Another rare event in Mario Party 4: the Big Boo in Boo's Haunted Bash. Just triggering him at all is hard enough, but what would he say if you triggered him and none of the other players had anything to steal? Or, a single Gaddlight won't protect you against him, but if all three players had Gaddlights (maybe even three Gaddlights each?) would anything special happen?

This is the first video to show what actually happens if you use a Bowser Suit in Mario Party 4. The A.I. doesn't seem programmed to use it even on the hardest difficulties.

Awesome video! Love how you get so technical about this and why I never got this rare item (I usually hit the dice early) I can't wait for new episodes! I never saw Koopa Kid giving that much coins before in MP2 so I'd totally be interested in this! The only other thing I can think off at the moment is an evolution of four-way ties in Mario Party, that could be interesting I think.

let this be a lesson: if you are a certain number of spaces away from a bowser space, wait until that number appears on the dice block 17 times to get the bowser suit

i have played mario party for years csince 2004, i completely beat the game twice and was not so long ago that i discover that the game have a bowser suit, thats how difficult it is to get it

I have owned this game since I was 7. I did not know this was in the game.

This is a super cool series and I can't wait for more! It's always so interesting to learn something new about a game that I've played dozens of times already. I've never actually seen someone use the Bowser suit in any of my playthroughs.

I don't know why they made this item so ungodly rare, but didn't buff it much. With how rare it is, it should be way stronger than it currently is. Like a triple dice block +30 coin steal. So that when you get it it's actually a big deal.

I remember fortuitously receiving the Bowser Suit from someone else when I was playing on Boo's Haunted Bash from a little more than a decade ago. DK got it first, which meant I needed a swap card to take it for myself and see what it does out of curiosity (I was playing as Mario, by the way). Having bought the swap card, there was a 1 in 3 chance of landing on DK, which also translated into 1 in 3 chance of receiving the Bowser Suit from him, including any other items in his possession. Believe it or not, I wound up landing on him, beating the odds. And yes, the Bowser does everything you described in the video. I came close to thinking that there was no rhyme or reason for Nintendo to put out the "war cry" sound effect if this only happens on a minimal to a non-existent basis throughout the game.

I love this series, I get to see things that I never even knew existed in mario party (I am familiar with DK saving the player from bowser in Mario Party 5, though)

Used to play MP4 so much as a kid when it first came out and I have literally never seen how this looks like until today.

I grew up with Mario party 4 and have played the game a ton. A few years ago I saw the bowser suit for the first time. I think my brother got it. I was so shocked and my mind was blown. I thought I had seen everything the game had to offer but nope.

I had Mario Party 4 since 2008, and...I have seen the Bowser Suit only three times. I believe each character has a unique voice clip while wearing the Suit in Mario Party 4. I like it when Peach says "Here comes Bowser!". Nice video.

I actually managed to get the Bowser Suit once during my Story Mode playthrough in Bowser's Gnarly Party! I was curious to see how it worked compared to the way it was in Mario Parties 2 & 3 so I kept resetting the game until I could get somebody with it. I laughed pretty hard when I saw that you literally bellyflop on your opponents XD

Sounds like MP4 uses a similar "rng" to what Mario 64 has, where there is a large table of numbers that despite being wildly varied are always in the same order rather than actually random

Something you missed regarding the bowser suit is what happens when you pass Bowser while wearing it on Bowser's Gnarly Party.

Hey you know what I have been curious about... What actually happens when you get the Bowser Suit and run into Bowser on his actual board (Bowser's Gnarly Party) while using the item. o.o I know what events happen when you run into him while in a normal state, while using a Mini Mushroom, and while using a Mega Mushroom, but I never got the chance to see what he does if you run into him while wearing the Bowser Suit. If you could do a video about what happens, that would be great! I have been trying to do this for years but unlike you, I don't have the ability to save state and that only makes it harder for me since the item is so rare. ^^;

It's funny because in MP3 you can actually time the Bowser Roulette making the Bowser Suit actually somewhat easy to get By the way, are you ever bringing this series back? If you need an oddity, what happens if a person lands on a space with 2 or more players during the final 5 turns? (In MP games that initiate a duel during the Final 5 Turns if two people land on the same space)

Mario party 4 was the very first game i played on a gamecube (my first console) i still have the game, i've completed it to 100% and i still play it sometimes to this day. After maybe 20 years, I've only gotten the bowser suit like maybe 3 times on my entire life

The bowser suit is also in Mario party 8 with the bowser candy and only on bowser’s warped orbit and it steals 2 stars

I only got the Bowser suit once with Daisy. Oddly enough, it was on one of the boards in the extra room which made me always think it was exclusive to those boards, which is why i never seen it since i dont play those boards often.

My best buddy and I used to play this game every time we would spend the night at the other's house and I swear we never got this. I vaguely remember as a child, either myself of one of my older siblings got the Bowser suit. I remember them saying it was easier to get in 2 and 3

Very first time playing Mario Party 4 today thanks to Netplay. Landed on Bowser and IMMEDIATELY got a Bowser Suit. Almost got it stolen, but got to use it on someone after the theft failed. We all freaked out because of how rare it was. It works to pick Daisy.

Does using the Bowser suit while passing Bowser on Bowser's Gnarly Party cause any new dialogue or does it default you to playing either Panels of Doom and/or Bowser Wrestling (if not just taking coins away from you outright)?

The timing thing is how almost all RNG works. Noting in computing is truly random so People often use the system time or similar to seed the algorithm that delivers pseudo random numbers.

Seeing all these videos i think i must be the luckiest man in the world. I got the bowser suit no less than 5 times and saw the A.I get the item but never use it for some reason. It would even discard it if it had 3 items including the suit and got another item. Either that or i played the game a hell of a lot.

I just saw this for the fourth time ever last Saturday and for the third time in a row, Daisy got it. I didn't get the chance to use a Swap Card this time round (and on the one occasion I managed it, I rolled a 2 when I needed at least a 3). This was the first Bowser space on the second board I was playing on a fresh file. So if it's not entirely random, is there a set of conditions that need to be fulfilled or something? I suppose if it was truly random, I would have had the suit far more often. I used to play a lot of 50 turn games with my family. It would have popped up then surely!

I legitimately did not know this was actually an item. I remember seeing it in the rulebook, but I'd never seen anyone get it, and Mario Party 4 was my first GC game along with Sunshine

The thing about random outcomes being dependent on timing is not at all surprising. That's a very common way for pseudorandom number generators to work in video games, but it only really becomes obvious if you're messing with savestates. People sometimes take advantage of this to find shiny Pokémon. Try savestate-scumming some random events in other games, and you'll probably see similar results.

What are the chances of getting a non-changeable number in mario party 2/3 using the mushroom or golden mushroom(sometimes u'll get the first or the second dice block with predeterminated numbers)

Most, if not all early nintendo games generated their RNG from startup, hence using savestates will mean nothing changes if you do the exact same thing. Hence why you use step counts to manipulate RNG in pokemon, for example. While, if you saved and turned off, you'd get a different outcome because of it.

I think Mario Party 4 is indeed random, just in a different way. It sounds to me like it generates seeds at certain intervals (possibly at the start of a turn) and bases all of its random decisions on the current seed. The first thing that I'd try is to load a state made just before a transition between turns, and see if results remain consistent.

If you put a sparky sticker on a space, the bowser suit will be canceled, just like any mushrooms used and the player will get back in his normal form.

I remember when I played this game I always got a Koopa Kid event instead of a Bowser one. Bowser ones happened rarely.

Well, that suit wasn’t rare once. I think last year, my parents and I were playing a game of Mario Party 4, and my dad, without fail or resets, got the suit like 3 times in a row! I’m not joking!

They are many things like this in MP like in the first one, of you land in a Bowser Space and then play Bowser Cash n Bash and then you dont lose coins, at the end of the event Bowser will stole 20 coins anyways... and that its hilarous.

Not bad, but I wonder if you know how RNG works with save states, or even without. Granted, I don't know the exact algorithm that's used to spawn the specific numbers and in what order, but every time you load a state, it's reverting you back to the same state of RNG too. hitting the first 2 on the same frame each time won't make a difference because the RNG will generate the exact same number the same way it did before. Different games judge certain random events differently. In Mario parties 2 and on, the die roll is determined dynamically by your timing of the A press, but in the first, the RNG decides it before the entire turn even begins. you could wait a second or a minute in PM1, but that 4 will still be a 4. Not trying to put you down. Just wanted to impart some coding/programming knowlege to a fellow gamer. Good on you for showing this. MP4 is probably my fave of the MPs, but even I have only ever seen the Bowser suit in it once. A clear indication of how long ago is that I don't recall it being so shiny. haha! Props to you man!
