If i can give you one advise. Please open the hole you closed in the bottom of your fuel tank and make a drain of it. It may happen that condensate (water) wil form in your tank. With this drain at the bottom of your tank, you can drain the condensate. This will prevent water being sucked into the engine, which will cause further issues.

I agree he just made the problem worse with no drain

JB weld always falls apart in fuel. I highly recommend just using a piece of rubber fuel line and a hose clamp for your pickup extension

You may already know this but if one replaces engine mounts on a boat engine you have to perform a very detailed alignment process on the propeller shaft where it couples to the transmission so there won’t be stress on the prop shaft where it passes through the cutlass bearing and shaft log caused by a very very slight misalignment of the shaft! The adjustments are done on the new engine mounts and use a feeler gauge on the coupler!

Hello my German friend, You always surprise me with the craftsmanship of your work. You really know how to refit old items including a complete boat. The most amazing for me is that you do it all alone. I therefore have a lot of respect for your skills. Wish you lots of success with the rest of the refit and send you love from the Netherlands

Enjoyed this session. You might want to consider making arrangements for extra filtering of the fuel. Diesel love and need clean fuel. Installing a small fuel pump and extra filters that can be used when it is not in operation might be considered. This would be a process of "polishing the fuel". Love your work.

Very good work as always! A couple of things regarding the AC stuff, the outlets really need to go into back boxes, and the MCBs really need an enclosure as well. The idea is that any copper is either in a box, or covered by two layers of insulation. The boxes also provide strain relief in case something tugs on a cable. Wiska makes really good junction boxes in case you need to splice or junction a wire.

If you are putting appliances on the counter, you need to find a way to secure them. Otherwise, first storm and they are sliding off. You could break the appliances or worse yet, they could fall on someone. I've been on more than a boat for a few storms so that lesson sticks with me.

I plug my cell into my battery bank overnight so its fully charged in the morning. During the day I leave my battery bank plugged in to recharge it. I have assembled a ceramic tile box. Glued together with hydraulic cement .(cures in 5 minutes) so the lithium battery bank is in a fire proof container if it fails. I also have a ceramic tile box for my laptop to charge in.

That spliced fuel drop line is going to break at the worst time. If you are running low on fuel and it snaps off then the height of the pickup may be above the fuel height starving your motor of fuel and adding air in to the fuel lines. And it's not if it will happen, but when it's going to happen. Please rethink your concept on this and make it better than just ok. This in my world (race cars) this would not be close to acceptable because that JB Weld will fail. I would hate to see you trying to dock or be making a critical move out on the river and have the engine quit because of a JB Weld failure in your fuel tank. Love your content and filming skills!

@markdallman900
@markdallman900 2 года назад
Oops let me finish. .......below the suction pipe so you can remove any water from the tank. Maybe a threaded plug on top of the tank that you could remove, and insert a tube to suction any water that may be in the tank. When I was an engineer on tugboats the fuel tanks had bottom drains to remove water from the fuel tank. There is a paste called “kolor kut “ that is brown but when it touches water it turns red. Put some on a stick and insert it through the top access to the bottom of tank. Pull it out and if it’s still brown then no water. If you find water stick a small tube down and suck it out.

If you want to repair a diesel tank this is a how to video. I’m not crazy about the JB weld, or why you even needed to extend the pickup (isn’t it at the bottom with the tank pitched back?) but the prep work was perfect. The coating on that tank should last longer than you do.

gj on that tank and finally getting rid of the glued fuel pick up line....i hope the in-tank coating adheres propperly and won't flake on you. Edit: before I forget, i strongly recommend that you get your engine diesel injectors opening pressure & leak checked...correct opening pressures as well as uniform spray patterns and no dripping are very vital to an old diesel engine

Instead of splicing single strand (solid) wire to the multi strand wire you could either apply solder to the end of the multi strand (making it solid) or crimp on a wire ferrule/pin terminal. If the DC wires and AC wires are each encased in individual secondary sheathing and the internal color codes inside the sheathing are correct, I see no issue running them side by side.

@jackpatteeuw9244
@jackpatteeuw9244 2 года назад
@@johnglover9935 @50 Hz and 220V I don't think it is much of a problem. I am sure any of the DC loads can handle a small amount of induced AC.
@johnglover9935
@johnglover9935 2 года назад
@@jackpatteeuw9244 The problem seems to be if the DC gets induced into the AC then the AC will not oscillate around the zero volts. There is a British Standard quoting the theory but I cannot remember the number. A lot of it has recently come to the forefront with the advent of solar systems.
