It is good to see Mark working with Pocketwizard with the new Plus III device.

Well...the Plus III isn't actually new! That product is actually been around for about 7 years and still works like a charm! We just found this video in our archives and realized it had never been posted on RU-vid. Glad you enjoyed it!

Im using a Plus 3 on camera but notice people on RU-vid using a more dedicated sender, whereby they can dial up or down flash output... what is the current product and/or does the AC3 Zone controller do this job still? Thanks
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids 3 года назад
Sorry we missed this message! The AC3 can be used with a Nikon FlexTT5, Canon FlexTT5 or FlexTT6, or the MiniTT1 for either Canon or Nikon. Power Control is available with ControlTL receivers and compatible flashes, like the FlexTT5 and Canon and Nikon Speedlights.

I purchased 2 of these recently as well as the appropriate cables. I am wanting to have a remote camera fire when the camera I am holding fires. The problems I am having is as soon as I turn everything on, one of the cameras just instantly starts firing and didn't stop. When it finally stopped, and I half way pressed the shutter button of the other camera, the one started firing. My question is how to I go about getting it to operate as intended, where it only fires when the first camera fires? If it matters, I have a Canon 7D Mark ii and a Canon EOS RP.

Sorry we missed this message! That does not sound normal. One suggestion is to change the radio on the transmitting camera to Tx Only. Otherwise, it might be best to message into our technical support queue at info@pocketwizard.com.

2 years ago so not sure you’ll see this: So the pocket Wiz III Is it turning on the flash in each zone, is it controlling the flash or does the flash have a pocket Wizard III built in? If built in What equip manufacturer flash units use pocket Wiz? Thanks Scott
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids Год назад
We did miss this, sorry! You would need a Plus III for each remote flash. There are some older flash packs that have built in PocketWizards, like Dynalite, Profoto, and Photogenic.

Will the Pocket Wizard Plus III work with a Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT ?
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids Год назад
Yes, if you have a hot shoe adapter and use the flash in manual. You would need a Plus III for the camera and one for the flash.

I don't know if somebody reads this. I would like to use my two speedlights in 'ping pong', /sequential firing mode. 1 shot +left flas, next shot + right flas, etc. Is this possible with the plus 3? I am using a OM-1. Thanks

You can use Plus III radios as receivers but you need a different transmitter for this. I think you wrote into our support queue, which is the best way to get help. We'll send a message shortly. If that's not you, please email us at info@pocketwizard.com. Thank you!

Does the battery drain if left on?
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids Год назад
Yes, there is no auto shutoff. Regular alkaline batteries will last for about 30-50 hours. You can also use the PW-AC-USB AC adapter if you want continuous power.....

is HSR same as HSS?
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids 3 года назад
That's a great question, it is definitely not the same. HSS (High Speed Sync) will let you sync a flash up to 1/8000 but requires TTL communication. HSR (High Speed Receive) will allow the radio to trigger the remotes at a much faster rate than normal. Normally, the radios can trigger up to 12 FPS but HSR would allow you trigger up to 14.5 FPS. It also helps FPS triggering compatibility for any flash.

Is not working for me as camera trigger... I can't make it shoot my camera. What I'm doing wrong??
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids 3 года назад
Do you have 2 PocketWizards? You'll need one as a transmitter and one as a receiver. The receiving PocketWizard needs to be connected to the camera by the correct remote camera cable. If you are still having trouble, please message us at info@pocketwizard.com and we will be happy to help.

@@pocketwizardvids yes i have 4 pocked Wizards. Maybe is the cable because I have one that is not the 10 points. I have the cables that came with the pack and maybe I need a 10 point pin cable for Nikon d810?? Jave to be the cable because they work good on flashes.

What is the use of this cable for???
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids 3 года назад
@@mrcenturion5800 The PC cable is for connecting a speedlight with a PC port or to connect your transmitting PocketWizard to your camera. The other cables are for different strobes. The remote camera cable is specific to your camera. With the D810, you will need the N10-ACC cable. It is available in either 1' or 3' length.

Hey you forgot to mention how Pocket Wizard charges $10.00/per PW device for upgrades.
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids Год назад
The E Release is an optional upgrade. All Plus IIIe radios sold new since September 2019 have the firmware installed. If you have older radios, you can upgrade those to the new firmware protocol if you want to. There is a small one time charge for this per radio, it's a complete protocol change. All regular updates, both Legacy and E Release, are still free. Or you can downgrade the new Plus IIIe radios to use the Legacy firmware if you are using older radios that can't be upgraded. The downgrade is free and you can re-upgrade later at no charge.

Why couldn’t they have built in flash power level control. Instead I have to buy an AC3 and a mini and piggyback them to control power output? Ridiculous.
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids 3 года назад
The Plus III is a single pin trigger so it can't communicate via TTL, which is what you need for power control. For the ControlTL radios, the advantage to having your power control in a separate unit like the AC3 is that it allows you to use an on camera as a master controller instead if you'd prefer that setup. It gives you the option of having an on camera fill flash OR just using remotes.

If they’re sticking a Plus III on their hot shoe to control turning lights on and off, don’t you think they might like to turn the power of those lights up or down?
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids 3 года назад
@@kevinwaits4369 so sorry we missed this. Again, the Plus III is not designed to do this, it's for simple, manual, rock solid, reliable triggering. If you are looking for power control, that's where you would want to use our ControlTL system with TTL. The Plus III is also an excellent unit for remotely triggering cameras.

I have 6 of these pocketwizards. What has happened to the company? There are no new products keeping up with the newer camera systems and various new lights. Godox has become the hottest lighting company. Why not interface with some of these products? Sony too has become the fastest and best selling cameras but PW only seems to care about the other two companies.
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids 4 года назад
Hi Mark, Our products work with just about every camera or flash on the market! A PocketWizard you bought 15 years ago can still be triggered by a brand new one and can trigger just about ALL camera products. It's not that we only care about only two companies - we care about our customers and want to be sure they can always get the shot. The Plus III is a rock solid radio and with the new E Release protocol, we've actually introduced new technology to make your "old" radios work completely differently. And we've still managed to keep it backwards compatible if you have older radios. Plus III radios are designed to last and just work. Even with Sony cameras.

@@pocketwizardvids I've got an old Bowens mono spot flash that I use accasionally. I've just switched to Sony system, which Pocket Wizard triggers should I get?
@pocketwizardvids
@pocketwizardvids 3 года назад
@@stephenpolwart2094 The Plus IIIe radios are a great option for triggering up to X-sync. Depending on which camera body you have and which exact flash model, you may want to experiment with HyperSync. Feel free to message us at info@pocketwizard.com with details and we can help you with more options!
