The EA cheese, baby! Keep Pelikka and trade off other assets and cap players, keep Thomas until he retires.

I hope you are planning on an Utah Franchise Mode going forward! So far my favourites have been The Seattle Seamen in NHL20 and the Oilers earlier this year. Both are classics IMO

Yeah, that extension dollars remaining number drops real quick when you have players asking for $7M+. It doesn't factor in that the Cap usually goes up $1.5M-$2M a season. If you're willing to give up a declining Thomas, maybe look for a younger but similar player. Maybe do a player search and hope you can find one that is still RFA eligible. Because, morale and stats might not keep that OVR up for many seasons more. And, he is making $8.65M. Getting that off the books, even if it's for like one to two mill difference in Cap can make signing Pellikka easier. However, he (Thomas) is the only original Blue left.... And at this point has probably got a franchise record or two, maybe. So, if you want him to retire a Blue, that's your choice to make. But, the question you should probably be asking yourself is: Do I want to keep Thomas or Pellikka more? Since Pellikka has essentially replaced Thomas as the Face of the Franchise/star player.
