Honestly I dont get why GEWA always makes the bag thingy for your books/scores so tiny. I own a GEWA case and I gotta say A4 fits in there easily, but everything thats bigger than that- and thats most orchestra scores, scores from the US and hard cover scores - dont fit in there. Its honestly kind of insulting. You pay SO MUCH MONEY for their cases. I dont get why they dont change it..
I ended up purchasing the BAM Peak Performance case- it is cheaper and has better features, including a large storage pocket for larger books and is located on the other side of where the case rests against the back. As for the water resistance I will see if I can reduce or eliminate the ingress of water and let you know what I came up with. I’ll use my cheap $70 eBay violin as the test dummy and NOT my new Klaus Heffler La Primavera 😇😆
@@maestrokimon Yes, your review of the BAM Peak Performance case was instrumental (pun intended!) in helping me to decide. I needed something with more storage but with comfort in mind as well. I travel a lot between my home in NW Montana to my ship in Tacoma, WA and the only exposure to the weather would be the trip from the security gate to the ship’s gangway. I have seen two “rain coats” available for violin cases however they are both about 3cm too short. The Peak Performance case is longer than the typical oblong case so in order to avoid the frequent rainy days in the Pacific Northwest I may have to use a heavy-duty plastic bag if I can’t find a better solution.
I do a lot of cycling with my violin on my back going to lessons and rehearsals. I always have a problem that the violin case pushes my head forward. A good hipbelt, like the ones used on a proper hiking rucksack, would help making the case sit more steady on my hips, keep the weight from my shoulders and stop the case from pushing my head forward. One solution I found is a barrel carrier from Eureka, but it is not easy to put my violin case in the barrel carrier. I am very interested in violin cases with better designed carrying systems. If you find any, please make a review!
Your reviews are the best! I was about to buy this case but not happy with the hinge and noticed the upgrade to Air has the same hinges, so will probably buy a bam case.
I can’t help wondering if the leak didn’t have something to do with the popped rivet since it was on the same end of the case. Perhaps do the water test before the crash test? I am considering buying this case since I have a 3/4 violin, but a full size bow. This review is very timely for me, and I like that you are honest in your reviews and really test the cases.
That could be possible but I think that the water entered via the upper part of the case. In general it is a good case, but be carefull with the rain. By the way, do you come from The Netherlands? If so, please send me an e-mail.
Nice case. Little more than I would ever need but adequate for most. Most cases don't have much additional space for sheet music or books. Positioning to carry looks decent. Will listen to your caution about violin storage. Best wishes.
Hi, I was just wondering if you have any advice… I have the gewa pure case which I got about a month or two ago. Given that it is basically new and quite expensive for a violin case, I was expecting it to be very high quality however the Velcro on the adjustable neck has very quickly become unstuck and now when I put my violin away I have to cover it with sheets and towels because even though I stick down the Velcro as hard as I can, the neck part still becomes unstuck and my violin ends up thrown against the side of the case. Since it is now too late to send back, I was wondering if you had any ideas of how I can make the Velcro better… I know this is a strange question but I take my violin all the way across a big city almost every other day and I really don’t want it to get broken since it is a very expensive violin (by my standards). Isn't there another solution to hold the bow? The toggle easily damages the bow hairs. I see this on most cases, and some have a flimsy clip, but this is also something thsat could easily be improved on. A toggle is such a primitive solution, consisting of a screw and a piece of plastic or wood. Look at the bow at 9.00 in the video. Honestly, I am not impressed.
