@@GunsOfTheWorld love your videos I just want to make sure you knew but gewehr 43's came from the factory with a too large gas port to help with reliability and for civilian shooting to avoid damage to the gun you need to get the gas port resized to avoid damaging the gun. with the way thr gun is recoiling so hard i wanted to make sure you knew so you can keep it from getting damaged
@@thechonkersking2647 Thank you! I appreciate the info man. I have the reproduction gas system installed with a smaller gas port to help with that issue 👍🏻
@@jad2290 guns and ammo magazine, multiple videos on RU-vid and A LOT of WW2 documentaries and books, I'm way too damn poor to afford one unfortunately...
A note to anyone wanting to get a G43, modern ammo is way more gassed then what the germans fielded during the war and the G43's gas system was designed to compensate for fouling and icy conditions. Please do yourself a favor and buy a gas kit, it'll severely reduce the recoil, save you and your coveted rifle from potential over gassing/breakages.
@@taylorlloyd7804 not the smart type aye, overgassed means the gastube cycling the bolt is being put under too much gas pressure(from hotter powder in the bullet being fired than something thats 70yrs+) at the bolts piston. Its bad for the shooter gun and gas assembly
@ShelbyGT500- Cripiest sound design too a lot of the guns in WaW were super low bitrate and highly compressed which resulted in "plastic-y" noises but the Gewehr always sounded really good compared to the rest.
@@smartfella7914 not to mention the cyber security for the PC is basically nonexistent. The console versions have gotten better, but the PC version is legitimately dangerous to use.
The reliability was not so great during the war, as the receivers had a tendency to crack and or explode. The gas system was unrestricted and directed too much pressure into cycling the rounds. Definitely get a modern gas system before shooting a 43 nowadays too protect your receiver.
I just bought a g43 about a month ago it’s such a beautiful rifle and was one of my most wanted ww2 rifles it’s marked 1944 and came with 3 original mags I paid 3200 so not to bad I feel
Like I posted earlier, change the recoil springs every 500-600 rds and it'll keep running without any over-pressure issues. Unless it's been modified to lower the gas pressure, there are two ways to do it that I'm aware of, putting in new springs is a must. If I just bought one and wasn't real familar with it. The first thing I would do is put new springs in it. They are easy and cheap to get from Wollf Gun Springs. I've been shooting G43's for 20 years and Just passing on what I've learned. Good luck with it! all they do is go up in price, even mismatched shooters.
@@karlheinzvonkroemann2217 it’s got a brand new never fired before recoil spring. Do you know a good ammunition to shoot out of it bc I don’t want anything super powerful and risk damaging the gun at all it’s my favorite gun I own
@@carkingz9934I’d stay the hell away from Turkish or Paki ammo. Both are notorious for being sub par and in some cases, dangerous. If you’re willing to spend the coin, PRVI makes excellent ammo. The same stuff in the video.
@@gratefulguy4130 what kind of ammo do you use? I know it’s a odd question but I just don’t wanna do anything to damage it haha I understand the spring is good and stuff until 500-600 rounds and such just wanna know what ammo u would prefer to be ran out of yours
I have a DUV 44 G43. It looks exactly like yours does. Over the years I found out that putting in new springs ever y 5-600 rounds will save the gun from beating itself up I got them from Woll Gunsprings. This rifle gets a lot of bad stuff said about it but with new springs it's very reliable. Great new production ammo with the correct military weight of 198gr. you there. The Romanian stuff from the 1970's is 150 gr but it's pretty clean reliable and cheaper than that Privi for plinking.
The recoil is so strong! Firearms are poetry too: just hear the sound of the mechanism of fire, pure poetry for my ears. The shot is so solid, it makes me feel satisfied!
@@gripz9387 What? The guy is at a gun range in the year 2024. He's not a German solider fighting in ww2. Wtf are you talking about with this cringe "combat reloads" shit?
Yes you are correct. All of these rifles are over gassed and a new adjustable gas system called the shooters kit, must be installed to fire the rifle safely. 👍🏻
@@hazzmati Your Life, your rules, sure. But when a life is at stake, having a weapon is 100 times better than having none. But, it's your life, you'd know better what it's worth.
Honestly that reputation came from GI's that brought them back who didn't know enough to replace worn out recoil springs. That's the number one problem with these rifles.
They are over gassed, but it’s from a combination of things Like mentioned, springs wore out fast partially from late war shortcomings and partially by the design. The springs are fairly small for what they’re supposed to counteract in the action. They are functional, but these rifles were definitely not expected to last 80 years. Their designers were more worried about the next five years. My ‘44 is pretty rough around the edges, quite literally really. A lot of polishing and smoothing is missing on non functional surfaces, tool marks are visible and the finish isn’t great, even when considering its age. Secondly, German wartime ammo was pretty hot for its day, but it does not compare to modern powders and pressures. M1’s suffer the same problem. Really cool rifle though Hits bucks like a truck, and doesn’t mar the meat too much either
I like how in most games where this gun is featured you can just empty a clip in seconds with amazing accuracy while in reality your arms would just get torn to pieces

I appreciate how gently you lay her down. Idc if it’s an antique or not, I hate to see RU-vidrs throwing their firearms on tables and beating them up unnecessarily. Also goddamn she got some kick and I bet that’s louder than hell
Its a shame the metal on them is so prone to failure thanks to wartime manufacturing constraints. Such a beautiful thing, my Hakim simply cannot compare to such a work of craftsmanship
