The first move down is not what you think.? That is why Pete Cowen is more successful than any other tour coach because of this move which contradicts the golf instruction world. He also uses GForce Swing Trainers for the "Transition Move" demonstrated in this video👇Read More👇
In this video check out ‪@andycartergolf‬ Pete Cowen's senior teaching pro demonstrating the Transition Move that Pete uses with all of his players.
In Transition lower the hands, arms, club, hips, pelvis “FIRST” then you can rotate the lower body much easier and efficiently. The lowering pushes Pressure Down through your legs activating them so you can "PUSH INTO THE GROUND AND TWIST YOUR HIPS EASIER & EFFICIENTLY"
Pete Cowen & Hideki Matsuyama Lesson (quick Vid revealing the move)
• Pressure Down & Arm Pr...
If you get stuck on the inside or the opposite and swing too far out to in, you need to listen to ‪@andycartergolf‬ in this video, who is Pete Cowen's senior teaching pro.
"Use the upper body to lower the club and then lower body for the power and rotation, Lower the arms FIRST then add the rotation..!
Pulling the club / lowering the arms down first is Key to getting into the correct delivery position on plane (parallel with toes & target line) and its the key to hitting the GForce Swing Trainer correctly.
If you are too far out to in or in to out, then the GFORCE will quickly highlight those issues with either poor strike or shots way out to the right. Practice this transition move and drill in this video. Not only will it help you with swing path but also Tempo, Rhythm and Timing the important elements that are required glue the swing mechanics together with effortless fluidity.
The new NXT-GEN are now the same weight as your regular club so transition from swing training to regular club is now much easier and quicker, because the weight and balance is the same your Timing will be the same, anything heavier will cause issues with your Timing when switching from swing trainer to regular club. It requires a different force to swing a heavy club v's regular weight club so it would be like learning 2 completely different swings.
If you haven't already watched part 1 and 2 of the Transition video series you need to check it out. It all relates to Pete's teachings. Also read the descriptions in the "show more" drop down for extra Bonus Links.
Part 1 • First Move Down + 3 Bo...
Part 2 • Final [CRITICAL] Part ...
There has been to much focus on body rotation which has been ruining golf swing for many years now. DON'T FORET ABOUT YOUR HANDS, ARMS & CLUB..! THIS WILL CHANGE YOUR BALL STRIKING FOREVER..!
This is the correct way to transition because I can "FEEL IT" just like when I used to strike the ball this well with this same move many years ago, before I started getting too focused on body rotation, separation and trying to get my hips open, just like you are trying to do right now with zero success and no consistency.
If you are trying to focus on getting open with your body DONT FORGET the Club, Hands and Arms have got a long way to travel down to sync up with your body. The more you try and and get open the more it forces your body too far out in front of your club, hands and arms.. so they cant work through the ball together which is why you sometimes feel flippy and compensate.
If you want to feel the correct moves and time them to perfection, I would strongly suggest picking up a GForce Swing Trainer, you get instant feedback from the shaft if your timing is out and the ball flight + they are now the same weight as your regular golf club for quicker and easier calibration from swing training to regular club & USGA approved, our best version yet :-)
Pick one up from my store here, you also get regular training videos, email support and ask for help if you need it :-)

The most important thing I got out of the Cowen video was not pulling the arms down but the lowering and pulling back the left hip out of the way, which helped pull down the arms in position. It's one of Rory's signature moves.

So very true. I just started working with a great coach a couple of weeks ago. One of his big points is “the closer the club head comes to your left hip, the worse off you are…. Keep it away on the downswing, and through impact (rotating back/around)”.
@adamprint644
@adamprint644 Год назад
Agreed. I was taught by him in the early to mid nineties. Body movement (the spiral staircase) is vital. He only ever got me to pull down if I was getting very late and leaving the club behind me. Otherwise we always worked on the transition, by moving the weight from a loaded right side, shifting the left knee him towards the left side.

The reason Penick called it the “magic move” is that the puzzle is how do you pull the hands down counter clockwise when at the same time the club force in the backswing is pulling them clockwise up and forward? The solution to that puzzle I use is side-bend. Side-bend is a action which can be done consciously - so timing can be controlled at-will - of how the club force is pulling on the hands in the backswing. So at any time in the backswing, full or partial, you want to reverse the direction of the club head all you really need to do is side bend with the same trail hand action as when throwing a ball down at the ground near the front foot. Side bending the spine to backwards ) shifts upper body mass in a way that causes a reflexive lateral movement of hips forward which is exactly what is needed to release the pulled back lead knee, which frees the hips to fire and drag shoulders and club back down. Dropping the hands load the shaft by bending it, but the bend can only be maintained by keeping the hands accelerating and pulling against the inertia of the club head mass which decreases over time in the downswing. How to do that? Progressively increase the the amount of side bend during the downswing. The side bend action will continue to move the hands down and forward on a shallower more elliptical path than swing without it (e.g. the swing of 95% of recreational golfers). If you analyze club head paths with and without side bend it is easy to see how the side bend results in a more down the line club path which keeps the face square to that path longer as the ball compresses and releases.
@ericschroeder8932
@ericschroeder8932 2 года назад
If that works for you, more power to you. All I know is any part of the golf swing that relies on "timing", or the timing can be controlled at will, is inconsistent. Pete Cowen's overarching thesis is "pressure, natural forces, and maintaining the mass of the club so it's useful." Loading and unloading, pressure into the ground, and rotation. Very powerful, consistent ball-striking. The other thing is golf is a rotational sport, so lateral movement, on its own, isn't optimal. Out of curiosity, are there any touring pros you can reference that are a good example of your technique? Thanks.
@mikebarnard2689
@mikebarnard2689 Год назад
Or to summarise.... keep spine angle through impact. That equals side bend.... less words 😀.
@TeddyCavachon
@TeddyCavachon Год назад
@@mikebarnard2689 no, side bend, is different than spine tilt or angle. It is the curvature of the spine seen at impact in all good ball strikers on the pro tour.

Excellent way for a middle aged man to begin throwing his back out. Tilting the right hip and winding like a rubber band is only for exquisitely conditioned athletes. Pete's chipping and pitching teaching works for older golfers because it's stress free... but this swing here is going to get you an express trip to the orthopedic surgeon.

I think it’s such a fine line between using your shoulders and the club coming across and slicing it, and lowering the arms then rotating.
@gforcegolf
@gforcegolf 2 года назад
Just make sure your shoulders turn steep in relation to the ground back and through, if they flatten going back which is an issue for most golfers, they have to steepen coming down throwing the club out to in. Imagine your shoulders are like helicopter blades and you want them rotating at 45 degrees back and through. That keeps your swing on plane with the lowering of the hips, hands, arms and club 👍 Use the "Head on Wall" drill in these 2 videos Transition Part 1 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7mAjIR058gY.html Transition Part 2 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gxSaIrBm8Z4.html

If you are trying to focus on getting open with your body first DONT FORGET the Club, Hands and Arms have got a long way to travel down to sync up with your body. The more you try and and get open (left hip) the more it forces your body too far out in front of your club, hands and arms so you come over the top (amateur) or get stuck (pro) Falling arms (Gravity) does not generate the hand speed we see on GEARS 3D, you have to accelerate the club down to delivery, to sync up with the (coiled) body so body and club then come through together. watch this video below and follow the rest in order to the most recent one, its 1 of several transition videos, make sure you read the description in each video as I have put extra information, drills and links in there explaining this, thanks Transition Part 1 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7mAjIR058gY.html

I really do like this move of lowering the hands and then turning through the ball. Another way of thinking about it is tucking the right elbow to clear with the right hip, generating forward shaft lean through the ball.
@gforcegolf
@gforcegolf 2 года назад
yes I like the right elbow into the right side, that was a feeling I will never forget when playing my best golf. Helps the swing radius narrow on the downswing which is key for easier hip rotation, like an ice skater tucking their arms in they spin faster (Physics) when their arms are out wide they spin slower which unfortunately too many amateur golfers are doing the wide downswing :-(

Great video Stuart. I have the Gforce 7 iron and have watched and tried all the drills but as an 11 hc I just don’t manage to get the pull down part of this, which is probably why I am still an 11 hc. Love the gear, love the videos but am at a point where because I don’t have the time of a pro and didn’t start golf as a child, I am resigned to just being average. Will keep Omni with the club as it does help me with tempo and timing and I don’t so I so gotta be happy where I am! Thanks for all your work 🙌🏽
@gforcegolf
@gforcegolf 2 года назад
thanks Mark, the pull down is tricky because you have to change direction into the downswing very slowly before you pull and accelerate, there is a strong impulse to HIT which is the problem. Think of it like a swing in the park, it has too change direction (swing down) before you push it, if you push it too soon the chains lose tension, same happens with the GFORCE if you transition too soon and miss the timing of it the shaft loses tension so you cant square the face. I have a bunch of new videos coming soon with the swing trainers and applying these concepts covered in the last few videos, we will get you to single figures very soon :-) thanks

thank you :-) most golfers use it for Rhythm & Tempo, but its real key use is for Transition, Swing Path and Delivery. Most golfers will hit it to the right, but that is because the delivery position is out, if you lower your body and then accelerate the hands, arms club down first in transition you will get into the delivery slot and be able to square the face. Keep switching between clubs when training, start like this... 10 shots swing trainer - 10 shots regular club work down the reps 9, 8 , 7 etc, you then want to be at a point where you do low reps regularly switching clubs to transfer the feels and ball flight to your regular club. myself and the best players have been doing this forever, everyone has just been brainwashed by opinions, gravity and body rotation alone cannot produce the hand speed the I see on GEARS 3D, look closely at players arms when they swing, Fleetwood is a great example of fast arms, its the same as any other racket sport e.g tennis, body responds to arms and golf club / tennis racket, not the other way around that you are lead to believe In transition the lowering of the body and speed of the arms pushes pressure down into your legs and ground, you hips turn as a result of this and angular momentum plays a massive role, you push /sit /squat down to twist your hips, thanks

Re down swing /transition move this looks to be more or less the same as Harvey Penick's famous slow motion drill except he advocated bringing the right elbow to the right hip to get the club dropping down on plane . My main reason for commenting though is I am confused by this stopper drill idea as one the one hand you promote the G force trainers to promote a smooth transition and rhythmic golf swing and for sure they do this very well (I have both the driver and 7iron and think they are the best training aids I ever bought) but now with the stopper drill you seem to advocate a sawn off follow through that to me seems to undermine the swing rhythm . To me this is important as I am a 67 year old golfer with a bad back who , thanks to practice with your products, can hit the ball down the middle 9 times out of 10 but lack distance. A recent driver fitting session with launch monitor showed a swing speed of only 70mph and of course whilst I realise a 100mph swing speed is well beyond my physical abilities it would be nice to get a few more MPH and yards off the tee :).

nice to hear you are getting on well with the swing trainers :-) I like the right elbow into the right hip idea too. As for the Stoppers drill, the arms have to slow down at some point to release the clubhead and transfer the energy into the club, trouble is most golfers keep accelerating resulting in the clubhead losing speed. Great video-I do have a question though: Are we supposed to “hold” the wrist angle on the downswing? Or try to emulate that position through our body movement more so than fight the downhinging of the club with brute force from the wrists? I find it difficult to hit longer clubs when I try to hold the wrist lag through the shot, thanks!
@gforcegolf
@gforcegolf 2 года назад
thanks Ko, you should not be trying to hold your wrist angle, if you are releasing early that is because of issues in your transition or not having your weight on your left foot in transition. Holding your wrist angle will only lead to deceleration, flipping and poor release which is why you cant hit longer clubs. There is a point where the wrists unhinge naturally. Here is the best demonstration of that concept, thanks Short Version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VVQRPA297ds.html Long Version ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pUSk6WewQrE.html

@@gforcegolf thanks for replying! I wanted to see what you think about a couple more things… I am still having significant issues with my woods using this technique, I feel like I run out of real estate on the down swing and just have no choice but to either pull up or hit it fat/super low hooks. My irons are doing much better though! Is the reverse pivot still applicable with woods? It works very well with irons I must say! And I feel that I am using my right arm a little more in the downswing, which I assume is a preference thing for everyone? It feels more like a “push” the handle rather than a pull. Do you think it is important to try and keep your right forearm facing upwards in downswing to help you stay on plane? It’s just something I heard I’m not sure though. Love the vids! I would like to see a video about long irons/woods or chipping/pitching if possible!

@@KOxSOMEONE just experiment with the woods. BTW there is never any pushing in the swing, we pull (Centripetal Force) think of the GForce Shaft like a piece of string, or a ball on a string you cant push a string you can only pull it to speed the ball up. You need to understand the natural forces in the golf swing and how to harness and use them to your advantage. Check out this experiment here to confirm this... Most current tuition insists that the downswing starts with the lower body/hips rather than the upper body, in particular getting the pressure onto the lead side before swinging down. This seems to be the exact opposite. Hard to know what to do.
@nickdavis772
@nickdavis772 2 года назад
Getting the pressure onto the lead side should bring the arms down i.e no active pulling down of the arms- back still much towards the target.. then the turn etc bit as described. So it does in effect start with the lower body ..but not a hip spin out move!!
@wanderingbrummie
@wanderingbrummie 2 года назад
@@nickdavis772 that makes sense, but the impression I got from this video is that the arms and right shoulder should be consciously pushed down during transition, not pulled down as a consequence of moving pressure forwards the target?

@@wanderingbrummie see what you mean. There is perhaps a feel of pressure rather than a pull as the arms drop in the transition which maintains initial width. Suppose really need to watch Pete Cowan's actually demonstrating this rather than an interpretation of what he is advocating

It would have been much better if you actually hit more balls showing the move. It was very informative but very repetitive, explaining the same move for 7-8 minutes without showing a shot was just a bit difficult to watch. First real full shot at 10 mins in,. The best part for me was when you showed that the death move was moving the hips forward while moving down. That clicked with me, as I get stuck sometimes and it's because of that. Overall it's a great drill. Thanks!

the head on wall drill will tell you if you are raising up and what your limit is for the backswing. Keep your head on the wall and turn your shoulders more vertical in relation to the ground, feel your right hip moving back, up and out the way in the backswing and lean into the target at the same time, that will massively help you get a bit more turn on the backswing if you struggle with that eddie. Here is the head on wall drill, thanks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gxSaIrBm8Z4.html

Not really the best way to swing, in fact it is weak. The lower body especially the left leg/knee/foot needs to push into the ground before your arms start to come down. By the time you hit the ball you should be pushing off and up from your left leg.

Correct Barry, I cover what you talk about in this video, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gmeZ9r4Li-g.html What Pete Cowen's senior teaching pro Andy Carter is highlighting though, is the lowering of the hips and arms before the body unwinds, this pushes pressure down through the legs into the ground so you can twist and push off the ground more efficiently, that is the correct way to transition. Most golfers turn before lowering so they get stuck (good players) or swing over the top (amateurs) Pete Cowan believes the arms should lower first and then the body uncoils. This creates a downward pressure in the hips and arms to lower the club into delivery position to sync up with the body, and then uncoil the body, Here is a good video of Pete Cowen teaching this move, thanks ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JsJhQEJBE5Y.html
