A couple of his demo's do make me cringe a little, but this one I really like ( I have these p'ups in a couple of mine)... ...and Slick has more personality and character than all the 'Keyboard Warriors' on here put together! ;-)
I think this guitar is a Samick Lawsuit Era Gibson Les Paul Custom copy. Look at the headstock. Says, "The Samick". BTW, Korean made Samicks are killer. (Samick made Epi for awhile.) With pickup and electronics upgrades will rival many USA made guitars at a fraction of the cost.

you may want to lay the shaboiken in the window sill and sha-lamm the window down with generous force to increase the girth and modulation of said des-boiker....there's a chance you may have to go with window replacement tho....
I don't hate on Slick, but this is the only test video of his I can stomach. Usually his tone and style are terrible for demoing the sounds of pickups, so his videos are less than useful. This one was decent though. Cheers.
hes using a 81 custom remake, as a guitar tech just buy the epiphone copy if you plan on changing pickups or anything on it because gibsons only hold value if you keep them origional and epiphones run for a grand for top line gibson top line like thats easily 10 g's
the funny thing about gfs is that they are really a teriffic bargain and you "morons" that pay 3x as much for inferior pickups is hysterical! Sure every pickup is not for everybody. However they have a pickup for everybody and they are all quality from the 10 sets I have.
All of the GFS Earl Slick videos start with him doing that horrible mud sounding thing on a tele. His head bobbing around with the shot of his woman boot tapping the floor like he's feeling it... but I think it's about the worst tone I've ever heard. It makes me not able to watch most of the videos with the product he's advertising. Aside from that- the lipstick single coils sound nice, but these HB versions sound like dog poop.
you're right. why can't GFS get someone else! it doesn't matter if they're unknown but this guy blows am still pissed that he botched the GSF surf 90 video with his overblown gain!
My thoughts exactly on the intro, I laughed especially hard at the woman boot part. He's reminds me of Henry Winkler if Henry Winkler was a guitar playing lesbian. These pickups sound good just not in this video. He plays with so much dirt it's raunchy. His slide playing sounds like a baby whale trapped in a dumpster. That's his thing but you don't really get a good understanding of how the pickups sound.

That there are who guys think this sounds good or that Earl is a great player/personality should be taken as a warning to the rest of us....these people are OUT THERE and maybe hoping to get gigs someday, playing in PUBLIC! May heaven help us and our children. Today's music sucks enough as it is, we don't need Earl's disciples wondering around loose, looking to be heard. AAAARRRGGGGHHHH................
Hey kid stick to melodic grindcore or whatever you are in to. Leave the cool musicians to the adults. Slick is not a a virtuoso but i have seen him a few times and hes pretty damn good. Not to mention the ton of studio work hes done with guys like John Lennon and David Bowie have you heard of them? you are either amazed by guys like Yngvie or a super cool hipster either way just go sit at the kid's table youll be ok son.
Funny, I'm sure I'm older than you, old enough to have played some Slick songs at 70's bar gigs ("Heaven couldn't Find" for one, can't remember others). Always hated Yngvie, don't care for Vai although his little circus act is impressive sometimes. But that was then and so is Slick. On these demos he plays like he's been making a living at a factory for the last 30 years (as have I) and only picked up a guitar again to do these demos for beer money. Evidently you're one of the very people I'm alluding to in my OP.

GFS stuff blows IMO but give me some cash i'll noodle around on the internet. All you little fuck boys must not be familiar with Slick's studio work, and countless gigs with pretty big acts (Bowie, New York Dolls, oh and some guy named John Lennon). Not to mention his work with Lee Rocker hes a great rock n roll guitarist. Just stick non melodic grind deathcore or whatever the fuck you kids like. Or Steve Vai wanking off. Earl is more for adults i think a lot of you havent even got your fingers wet yet. Now dont go cutting yourselves i know thats what you kids do these days.
Right he sucks how many classic records have you played on? I mean old shitty Earl has only got "Station to Station", "Double Fantasy" and countless session gigs. Please show us how its done.
1000's of recordings, movie sound tracks and a few TV shows, but only three platinum records, about twelve gold. Then, as a studio musician, it isn't my playing that makes the sales go up. It's the artist's sex appeal, strange appearance, the promotional effort, the management, the blow, the parties, etc. More importantly, my playing has nothing to do with the fact that Earl sucks. The fact he played with David Bowie does not indicate he's good either. Bad intonation and shitty technique are facts. Who a person played with or for is meaningless trivia.
